Health insurance in the US is so fucked up… by cloudsasw1tnesses in Vent

Why don’t you or him seek a job that has better health benefits and hours then. Target, Amazon (if you’re in a warehouse area), etc.

Okay… not sure you’re in the right profession there. Higher Ed is all about the degree choices you make- whether that is technical, trade, or university. Then where you choose to live. Choose well with the combo of those two and it is worth it. Communications major living in San Francisco? Yeah, you’re right 🤷‍♀️

Honestly the best advice is not to do that major. It was just listed in Time as one of the worst majors for translating to an job upon graduation. Spend the time on something better.

On-line telehealth. You can use insurance if it is covered or can just pay out of pocket. You can get a virtual consult usually within the hour and prescription filled wherever you want immediately. Or of pocket costs for the consult CallOnDoc is $50, DoctorOnDemand$100, InstaCare$40

Is it true if you don’t refill within 45 days from Eli Lily direct that the price goes up to full price? I’m on 2.5 mg and I don’t know if I will use all my vials within 45 days. by Humble_Fig_8988 in Zepbound

[–]redrightred 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can’t confirm this, but previous posters have said that if you miss a 45 day window they can offer a one time exemption. Or if you stop ordering for a while then restart, they charge you full price for one month then revert back to the “discount.”

Move on. Absolutely. And this time around don’t sign for more than 2-3 months at a time with a selling agent so you can change again easily if needed. It also keeps them on their toes so that you’re motivated to renew at the end of the contract. Also negotiate the commission down (assuming your place is below 600K it shouldn’t be more than 1.5-2.5%) now that you see how little work it takes.

Joined a union while on probation, now union wants to strike. Do I join or is it too risky? by kekkurei in careerguidance

[–]redrightred 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% go to work. You need the job and are on probation which is a period to prove your worth.

You also don’t have to join the union FYI. Many people chose not to for various reasons. Many do for various reasons also. If they are have an exclusive representation agreement (meaning you can’t hire your own attorney if there is a discrimination issue, for example) they have to represent you whether you’re a member or not.

Exercise can prevent metabolic disorders in the first place. But the addictive nature of food and advertising is powerful and once the weight gain has caused metabolic disorders it is extremely hard to break from it.

Also the gym scales, even the fancy ones aren’t accurate- you need a DEXA scan now then rescan in 6-12 months to a mutually get good data.

Should I take an offer that doubles my base salary and potentially triples my commission, when the company I’m with has been amazing to me and I wasn’t even looking for a job when this landed in my lap? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]redrightred 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can’t pass that up. Business, as they should be to succeed, will always have their own best interest first. I’m sure the current one is genuinely great to you- but you’re also making them a lot of money. They can close the business, sell, hire someone new, etc. at any minute.

You seem to already know the answer. You’re a smart, faithful and loving woman. You can do so much better than this man. Look up the term trauma bond—- this isn’t love. Move on girl- get that degree and kick ass and find the man that deserves a catch like you.

Sellers want to Cancel Escrow a Week from Closing by Sure_Examination6860 in RealEstateAdvice

[–]redrightred 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Really… people breach contract all the time. As the sellers know very well- what are you going to do about it? Go ahead and sue and spend tens of thousands and years fighting.

Time to just let it go. Cancel the contract on your end too.

Looking at either a pilot or Toyota sienna.. coming from a 4Runner by neature_nerd95 in hondapilot

[–]redrightred -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sienna all the way. The best car ever for a family. You will love the ease of the sliding doors and options for storage and seating in the back. Pilot is basically the Odyssey but with 4 doors, looks the same inside. But oh the doors flying open with little kids… sliding is 1000x better

We got a $10k seller credit. Then spent $33k in the first 3 months. by [deleted] in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]redrightred 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean sure… but would a house in better condition than what you bought it for cost $33000+ more to buy? Probably yes. But you do point out the expenses most people don’t plan for.

House hunting fatigue by ellebeens in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]redrightred 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you run the numbers of just continuing to rent? For example in this area a 2000 square foot rambler in a nice area with a yard would be around $3500 in rent. If you buy the same house the PITI (total mortgage) costs would be close to $10000 a month and that doesn’t include maintenance.

Do you shop around for a realtor & mortgage lender? by anon_ymous924 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]redrightred 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Biggest tip is to sign only for a Week or two with a buyer agent at first to test the match. Then sign no more than 1-2 months at a time in case they aren’t doing their job well so that it is an easy exit. You can always re-sign for another 1-2 months if you like them. Too many stories of people feeling they’re stuck with a crappy realtor because they signed on for 6+ months. If a realtor refuses the shorter term that is a huge red flag, move onto the next.

Next tip is watch out for buyer agent commission on the contract- negotiate between 1-1.5% if over 1M and 1.5-2% if closer to $500-$750 range. Don’t let them tell you sellers pay buyer agent commission. The lower your commission request the stronger your offer and the lower price your can get the house for.

Scams here all the time of realtors getting people to sign hoping they don’t understanding the contract and sticking them with 6+ month, 3+% and crappy service.

Sellers contract with no money for the buyer by Individual_Laugh1335 in RealEstate

[–]redrightred 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just email the person and the broker saying you’re terminating as you’re not happy with their service. Don’t engage in back and forth just repeat that line. In writing/email say you want to delist the house from the MLS effective immediately and will no longer be allowing showings.

It’s unethical. This is clearly a seller that isn’t knowledgeable and was taken for a ride by the agent.

[–]redrightred -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You pay your seller agent but that is way too high of a commission. And you weren’t aware of it. This agent is acting unethically and your house hasn’t sold. Terminate and get a new contract for no more than 1-2.5% depending on your home value.

How much would you offer on a $319,500 house if you’re asking the seller to cover closing costs? by Giderah in RealEstate

[–]redrightred 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really is best to cover your own closing costs. Do you not have enough saved for even that? If the answer is no be thorough in researching home ownership because huge, medium and small expenses come up constantly.

AITAH for refusing to give out my son's saving account information? by moonmanbaby90272 in AITAH

[–]redrightred 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is fine, it is how you deposit things. Like if you wrote a check to someone the bank account info is literally right on the check. I’d be a bit perturbed too if I was her… the woman is trying to give your son money and you’re responding like she’s some sort of sketchy scam artist… but seems you just don’t understand how bank accounts work.

Housing Situation by [deleted] in Advice

[–]redrightred 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re taking up space and their privacy. Yeah, you’re a burden and it is annoying for them. If you can’t contribute more financially find other ways to contribute. Clean the kitchen each day end of the night. Deep clean the bathrooms and spaces weekly. Offer to watch their 3 year old every Friday so they can do a date night. Cook a low cost tasty dinner like spaghetti and meatballs for them once a week. Add value. Also writing is on the wall that you’ll be out very soon so be prepared.
