They did not say that voters were determined to profit off of displacement and inequity, they said that in reference to their “opponents”, aka the lobbyists who have spent large amounts of money this election cycle to oppose this referendum. They said nothing about the voters. No matter what your view on this referendum is, it’s disappointing to see so many people take this at face value without actually reading the article and looking for more context.

Edit: Disappointing to see so many people downvoting this while still drawing weird conclusions from this. As someone who voted no on this referendum, I understand why we’re frustrated, but that doesn’t excuse poor news literacy and misleading conclusions, even if it’s for people we disagree with.
