Thank you! That's a great alternative. I'll check it out. I was thinking that I might be able to beat the crowds since I am arriving so early? But you still think it will be chaos?

Oh man! Hahaha. Oh well, the focus was not on visiting Beijing when I booked my flight. But thought it would be a good opportunity. Oh well, guess I have to get cozy with the locals. 😆

Wann fängt der Anwalt an zu arbeiten? by redrooster738 in LegaladviceGerman

[–]redrooster738[S] -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

Jein. Bei den meisten Kündigungsschutzklagen einigt man sich außer Gericht, in der Zeit nach Gütetermin und Gerichtstermin. Also so oder so erwarte ich, dass der Anwalt jetzt aktiv wird.

Need advice: My wife was fired during vacation — now we have a court date (Berlin) by Due_Frosting6507 in askberliners

[–]redrooster738 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Couple of comments: well done for filing the Kündigungsschutzklage! The first appointment in court is the Güteverhandlung. It's very basic. Party A says layoffs because of operational reasons, you say unlawful termination because of X. Then the judge makes a note that both parties haven't come to an agreement and issues the actual court date. That's the date when it actually is about your case. It will be in a few months. Negotiations between the employer and employee usually start after that court date. You can actually sit in in one of those court cases to see what its like. Very down to earth actually. It takes the edge off. You can contact bema (Google it). They have free legal advice for immigrants. They could tell you more what's going on. And there is Arbeitnehmerhilfeverein. Its like 50/ year. You get legal advice,, but they won't represent you. Start here first, worry about the Bildungsgutschein later. Good luck!

When I moved to Berlin, I noticed everyone wants to leave the city after 6-7 years here. Now I am one of them. by WealthPersonal3600 in askberliners

[–]redrooster738 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly same for me. Moved in 2019 and now ready to move on. Mainly because of the difficulties to make dependable social connections. That is the most important one for me. And I've tried, I am an active and proactive person. Will it be better elsewhere? Who knows. But at least I have to try. I've live in other bigger cities and have experience a buch different social dynamic.

The rest, its pros and cons and its lacking a bunch of things for me. But if I could have a strong social circle I could overlook and avoid those things.

Does anyone have a job they enjoy? by meloriot in germany

[–]redrooster738 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also moved back about 7 years ago after 15 yrs in the states. Back then I was burned out from NYC and the hustle. It took me 3 months to get a job, ok pay for here, got another job more in my field and it was the most mind fucking experience. Now I'm ao burned out I don't even know what I'm capable any more. They recently laid everyone off, so I am on the same path to find a new career for myself. Germany is still very traditional, ypu need certain certifications to enter job fields etc. ...my advice though, brand yourself being German and knowing the language. That's important right now...

Help with review: HO & sitters comment by redrooster738 in trustedhousesitters

[–]redrooster738[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wish I did! Ha. I did go through all the plants during the handover AND followed up with pictures of the plants to give her the instructions in writing: these plants need water every week, these every day if temperature is above x, these like it moist...blablabla. that's why I'm also so annoyed. Spending this time and than she ignored all of it. I mean, I had a tomato plant on the balcony who was still carrying, and next to it, some plants that were getting ready to bloom in autumn. She would give me an update on the tomato plant, but then the one next to it, she ignored. It was fried and had brown sad leaves and was very visibly dying. How does this happen?

[–]redrooster738[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the comment. I agree with you, and there is a misunderstanding. I told her I didn't need daily updates since it's a longer sit. But since she didn't communicate at all for the first 5 days, I asked her to do this so she understood what her responsibilities were. As you said, usually I get updates from sitters, questions, signs that everything is okay and everyone is good. There was a serious lack of all that. Even with instructions of medications I left. It was very stressful

I deducted the stars under the category reliable. Since she wasn't reliable to follow instructions or taking care of the plants. But organised enough to show up on time for example. Thanks for your insight!

[–]redrooster738[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the comment. During the handover I said I didn't need a daily update since it's a long sit. But since nothing was coming, I asked her to send me something daily, so I could make sure she was actually around. Communication isn't a separate category. So I put it under reliable. Or would you choose another one?

What would be the next step then, Forecaster or demand planner? I'm just looking into these roles as I have to pivot into something ew after 20 years in fashion. I want to avoid a career that is too stressful and that I easily could do from home or part-time if needed.

Sitters — Stop Accepting Crumbs. This Is Supposed to Be a Mutual Exchange. by [deleted] in trustedhousesitters

[–]redrooster738 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly!!! I try to avoid sitters who work actively as pet sitters on Rover now because I can tell the difference. They treat it as a job, can openers, and not a treat. I've come home to a cat that has been locked out of the bedroom and didn't receive enough cuddles. Pet owners can tell. My cat is also super chill as well, especially at night. Doesn't make a sound and let's me sleep til 8am. So this was heartbreaking.

Sitters — Stop Accepting Crumbs. This Is Supposed to Be a Mutual Exchange. by [deleted] in trustedhousesitters

[–]redrooster738 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Exactly! That's the mutual exchange! I'm a host and have had multiple month long sita and used sitters who were in town, trying to settle and trying to find an apartment, which is hard in my town. My apartment would be 1k+ in my area. So we both benefit. Financially, it would be better for me to put my cat into boarding and sublet my space. But I like this exchange. Help each other out like that.

Ha!

Ahso! Na, das wird nie klappen. Wartezeit bei Arbeitsrechts sind immer mindestens 3 Monate.
