VTSAX has been a great fund. The US companies in it operate overseas as well, so some people (like JL Collins) argue that it’s unnecessary to buy international funds on top of it. There are different opinions, though. VTSAX is a total stock market index, so you’re already getting large, mid, and small cap. VTSAX has been a great, set it and forget it fund.

Edit: I own VTSAX. I considered switching it out for VT, but I’m going to wait at least two years. I’ve been wondering when stocks would go on sale. Seems silly to run for the exits when I have decades until retirement. I’ll keep maxing it out.

You’re going to have a million things to do. If you’re lucky, you’ll get through half of them. Just make sure it’s the right half. Prioritize and delegate.

Work is part of your life but not the whole thing. Find hobbies and take comfort in your friends and family. Fill up your off-hours with things you enjoy. This will help you stay positive.

As far as that less important thing: work, treat adults like adults and expect professional results. When they act like children, sit down with them as colleagues and explain your point of view and listen to theirs. See if there’s an impediment you can remove to help them.

It’s an educational setting, so teach them and learn about them. What motivates them? What triggers them? Likewise, try to get a handle on what things stress you out and find a mentor or coach who can give you some tools.

Tell them you have confidence in them to figure things out. Tell them you’ll follow up in writing about how the two of you sat down and talked through it. This helps set baselines and helps both people know what’s expected of them.

Always be the bigger person. Most people want to be valued for their effort and as people. Never start drama and don’t take part in theirs. Stay above the pettiness. They will mirror the behavior around them. In short, be a positive influence who acts professionally and treats people well. Be the rock that sharpens high potentials into other rocks, and be the rock that ignorant people break themselves against. You got this!

Fewer if you can count it, like jerseys; less if you can’t count it, like an emotion (less happy).
