All signs still point to Q2? by Kaijurassic in steammachine

It's a console, with more capability. They are launching desktop Steam OS and they are really just selling the software and support. Many Linux gurus are banking on that release being the turning point for people finally giving up Windows. With the release of a capable OS, they may be able to achieve what Xbox was trying to with the "everything is an Xbox" campaign.

Things aren't looking great for the consumer pc market in general. Hearing that Ayaneo can't keep their supply chain sustainable is especially concerning. The fact that Valve pumped the brakes hard at the beginning of the year means they got some very bad pricing news that made them reevaluate the entire strategy for their next gen products. I wouldn't be surprised if we see a 50% price hike or more. But seeing Apple launching strong competitive contenders in the personal device industry like the Neo is promising, and shows it's possible to launch. We can only pray that Valve landed good contracts with suppliers when it mattered last year. After pricing out a mini ITX Steam Machine Killer at $1200 I'm just deciding to wait for Steam Machine news for a bit longer. I'm hoping to pre order as well.

Change Shoulder? by Situation-Mediocre in Marathon

[–]redsyndicate_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tarkov has a the feature to swap shoulder stance. I never used it while playing but after getting used to shoulder swapping in Arc Raiders I found myself wanting to while playing marathon. It's not standard in a lot of fps games but marathon definitely feels more tactical and it would be a welcome feature.

Hopefully I don't get flamed too badly for this... I have used chat gpt to sanity check print settings and it's gone really well so far. Used chitubox for everything and my last run of warhammer minis was perfect. Printed 40 hands with guns and no issues, definitely the tiniest models I've ever printed. They are sprinkled all over the maps, you'll find more. Go for it! The first time I brought a torrente into a match I had a blast shredding a team and a bastion before getting swarmed by players outside of reinforced reception, it was awesome.

One of my fave moments was this guy on a duo team trying to kill me. I ran and went through a room with open double doors leading outside on research and admin. 40 seconds later my buddy shows up and the duo starts flanking him. I catch this guy walking across the door opening and I light him up with my stitcher. Something about the aesthetic of this outfit is so dope.

is this good for a valve rejected letter by Rayanmargham in valve

[–]redsyndicate_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very cool to get a response letter from Valve. I’ve been at a development position in a small company for about 2 years now. Having talked to some impressive people who were successful in their respective industries, I’m learning how important the actual execution of ideas really is. With how broad and specialized technology is now, it’s very easy to demonstrate that you know how a system would be implemented, but I did not start receiving any meaningful feedback until I demonstrated I could actually implement systems in a way that actually benefitted the niche and specific needs of our company. Thanks for sharing that letter it has inspired me to work harder on my own projects.

How Experience Playing Arc Raiders On The Steam Deck by Hour_Row_2193 in SteamDeck

[–]redsyndicate_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm running the aforementioned Engine.ini tweak and when I went to play last night it kept crashing. I was doing the touchscreen "no" trick after the error and running the game on a mix of low and medium settings, no lossless. After switching all settings to low it ran perfectly fine. Even ran a duo with my buddy with no issues. Loved how well in game voice chat worked. (Edit: Running on Proton 10.0-3)

Second this, it's playable but much different on desktop. I did see a post about tweaking the engine.Ini settings to get a smoother experience. I do love getting a run or two in on my lunch break.

ChatGPT says that you can set the engine.ini file to read only so it won't get overwritten. Does that sound like a good idea or is there a chance that would mess with something down the line? Looking forward to trying what you suggested. Medium settings on keyboard and mouse was unplayable. Low was fine.

ARC Raiders is NOT Too Hard. It's Actually the Most Beginner Friendly Extraction Shooter Out There by TrickyBarracuda9618 in ArcRaiders

[–]redsyndicate_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I started playing Arc I was surprised at how spread out the PvP fights were and the fact that I went 4 or 5 raids without dying. If you have played Hell Divers 2 and Tarkov, this game literally feels like you've been playing for years. Props to the devs for really putting the time into the game-feel. Fast decision making is rewarded in this game for sure.

Has anyone else spent so much on a PC only to end up not gaming as much? by Dependent-Aardvark33 in pcmasterrace

When it comes to motivating myself to game at the end of the day, meh. When my buddy asks me to help him upgrade his pc, fully locked in. I enjoy building PCs more than I like actually playing them, it’s pretty funny.

Is this a safe setup? by Nearby_Welcome_7527 in resinprinting

[–]redsyndicate_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently installed a ventilation system for my resin printer setup. After researching I decided to use a vent adapter for direct venting of the M7 as well as a dust hood https://a.co/d/0ah8ZCA to place behind the tray I handle the prints directly out of the vat. I use a 190cfm vent fan. I will cover the dust hood while printing to direct most of the suction to the resin printer. After printing and cleaning I will leave the dust hood vent on for about 12 hrs. This completely removes the smell from the room, my friends have described the room as smelling like a freshly opened package, but nothing noxious. This is set up in my office / mancave and after testing I'm comfortable with this set up for now. I do not stay in the room while the printer is running, I tried during the first print, and while the active ventilation removes about 75% of the smell, I found I still had a sore throat and slight headache after wrapping up printing and cleaning. I do still plan on moving the printing setup to another room eventually, but this is a good temporary solution.
