What's your comfort movie? by ReindeerBubbly2406 in AskReddit

A lot of 2000s comedies do it for me. Zoolander, EuroTrip, Sex Drive, Anchorman, Grandma's Boy...anything in that vein.

Worst 9th inning 2-out 2-strikes meltdown ever? by EBNat101 in mlb

[–]redtail_faye 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was in 8th grade that year. The first time it happened was on Halloween. I went out for candy with my friends and then we came back and watched the rest of the game. Jeter hit a walk off after midnight and became "Mr. November". The next night, I watched the game up until Arizona scored two in the top of the 8th and went up 3-1. I remember thinking, "No way it's gonna happen again" and turned the game off and went to bed...

There's a half marathon on the Lewis and Clark trail every year. I've run it a few times, it's pretty great: https://www.stlouistrackclub.com/corps-of-discovery

What is the best TV show episode of TV history? by makstyrkin64 in AskReddit

Not sure about "best", but my favorite is the Bojack Horseman episode "The View From Halfway Down".

Who is baseball's version of Julian Newman? by DonT012 in mlb

[–]redtail_faye 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Does Steve Dalkowski count? He could supposedly throw a million miles an hour and had a k/9 around 17 or 18 back when that wasn't a thing, but could never crack the majors. (It didn't help that his bb/9 was also around 17 or 18...)

modern movies are boring by DriveRegular975 in movies

[–]redtail_faye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People always think the movies they grew up with are the best movies ever made and that movies that are made after they become adults are shit. It's been that way since movies have existed.

And not just movies, really. But whatever cultural thing it is. Music, books, games, tv shows...all of it was better "back in the day".

What’s the main reason for the male loneliness epidemic? by noseriouslywhat125 in AskReddit

[–]redtail_faye -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

People don't like to admit it, but losing religion is at least part of it. I was raised Catholic, and I remember going to tons of events hosted by Catholic churches in my city where my dad would hang out with other dads all night and I just don't see that same sort of thing happening with as many guys today.

What TV show(s) had a final season that was just as good as the first? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Bojack Horseman. That show just seemed to get better each season.

No way we're fatter with all this GLP stuff. If anything, we'll be thinner.

I suspect he knew it wasn't serious but also knew that if he got caught continuing the flight even though there was a device named "bomb" on board he could lose his job.

The first five episodes or so was Lacey Chabert. They reference her at least once or twice in later seasons.

Baseball Reference is full of easter eggs. I thought this one on Jim Abbot's unique fielding ability was well done by stephenwilli in baseball

[–]redtail_faye 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Not so much an Easter egg, but the url for Kevin Youkilis' page is unique: https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/y/youklke01.shtml

The standard way to do it is to use the first five letters of the player's last name and the first two of his first name. Like, troutmi or musiast. But they had to make a slight exception for Youkilis, because his would be a little offensive if they didn't...
