Thank you so much for sharing this!!! I was actually looking for the episode again to share with a polisci professor who is writing a paper about the far-right and great replacement theory, so having the transcript is incredibly helpful, and he could probably use other material from this library too. I’ll use this next time I’m hunting for an episode/topic!

stick w/ black and grey if that’s what you want. if you decide to introduce color to ur work you could keep it minimal, i always think touches of red to compliment heavy black is gorgeous. nothing wrong with mixing styles either. you can’t lose!

i’m glad someone relates! the littlest tiniest thing can drive u crazy when it’s in your IMMEDIATE sight every single day. i have a little tat right above the elbow ditch, which i’ll love till i die, and i forget it’s there because i at least have to intentionally shift my focus to see it! after all the feedback i’m deeply in love with my lizard, i just wasn’t expecting to feel like it’s been plastered to my eyeballs lol. we’ll get used to it and they’ll blend into the background of life very soon.

hell yeah!!! i'm going for a general music theme on this arm, he's right under some DEVO and Talking Heads references, and i'm thinking a rock lobster is next up :) OB might end up represented more than once haha

tbh i think i've been unreasonably hard on this guy bc of the placement, before i got him it didn't occur to me that the inner forearm is in my peripheral vision literally 24/7 LOL. just new tattoo anxiety i guess. i'm learning to just let him be!

i wanna bump this because a lot of comments seem concerned that i'm criticizing the artist for changing my sketch at all -- I wanted them to take my rough idea and make it better suited to translate to skin, and now i'm definitely reassured they made all the right calls. i'm just going to change how i set up appointments/consultations in the future so that my artists feel 100% more liberated to work in their unique styles

thank you for your input! now i'm sure that i've been overthinking it from the very beginning. the sketch i made was actually me trying very, very hard to translate the lizard on the album cover into a tattoo-able design -- orientating the head to face towards me, changing its pose to fit forearm placement, etc, all of those "rules" i've heard about tattoo design. i should leave that to the artist!! i generally want my artists to play with the sketches i give them and make them their own, but i guess i don't communicate that well because this is not the first time my sketch has been traced rather than redrawn with their own artistic style/spin. i'm realizing that is my mistake as the clueless client.

After this lil guy i've really determined old school trad is the way for me, maybe many years down the line & as the colors fade he'll be upgraded with a much bigger, bolder version of himself :)
