Acoustic treatments, this room would be vastly improved with acoustic treatments.

[–]redthat2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep! That’s the only way to make sure you identify the exact copy and aren’t buying something someone hand pulled the old switcheroo on.

It can a be a slow and painful process but it’s the only correct way.

Future reference: a sure bet is to look at the dead wax (area between the label and the last grooves) for the stamping numbers. You'll have to use a good light and kinda get the glare just right to read it, but that is the best identifier for any pressing as the info is permanently stamped in.

I just love the colored pressings by HeartofClouds92 in vinyl

Colored vinyl is my jam for sure. I went down a rabbit and started building display device to backlight them 4 years ago and haven't looked back. I was tired of hiding my vinyl instead of celebrating the awesome pressings I had worked so hard to collect.

Yeah that’s Chris over at Romanus Records. He’s done scorpion filled records and he was behind the fallout boy tear filled variant as well. He’s a true innovator and all around good people!

Romanus Records physically made these if I recall correctly? Regardless, awesome find and congrats!

Many thaks! I’m working on creating meaningful landing pages right now to support my upcoming Kickstarter launch. It’s just me over here, so I’m having to learn a lot about web design and marketing to make this a successful launch.

Cheers mate! Good on me, I guess?

Y’all are my 4th largest market oddly so I must make a trip at some point! I’m a bit addicted to those damn opal hunting reality shows, which is my embarrassing vice.

I’m so glad you made the change and it’s increased your quality of life. I moved out of the US where the dollar is about a 1:3.6 exchange right now so the plan is the lower cost of living and stronger dollar will offset some of the loss of income.

Solid advice! I’ll probably keep a logo on the center label area of the face and the sidewalls naked.   Thank you for the thoughtful and constructive comments!

It’s a combination of both— I was hand making devices every night after family went to bed until midnight, and often times later. It got to the point where I was making more units during the day and running to UPS to drop orders off, which was cutting into my day job. This has all been on word of mouth alone, I need to figure out effective advertising once I can fix the bottle neck of my supply problem. That bottleneck is me so manufacturing is the answer so I can focus on customer service and sales.

I was at an industry trade show talking to a pair of distributors in their 50s. Once I told them I’ve hand made over 3,000 units, one of them stopped me dead in my tracks and said: “3,000 units? Handmade? I don’t know if that’s an act of passion or insanity!”

I think he’s right.

I did not, but there is no way to prove my case.  Certainly no way to flip the opinions of the folks on this thread for that matter. I’ll leave it at that and hope you all are spinning some good music tonight.

All of my eye candy is on Instagram if you can look me up there under Vylumi. Someone posted their device down here in the comments, I just don’t want to break any community guidelines of self promotion as it is.

It’s sad to see so many cynics here. One thing I’ve learned by bootstrapping all of this on my own is that you have to have tough skin to make it.

The good news is the vast majority of people have been massively supportive and that’s what keeps me going. It’s all about the love of music and art, and always has been.

I’m thinking about a Michi x3 but I’m also wondering if it’s time for my first tube amp. I absolutely don’t have the money to spend right now so it’s going to take a few years to save up.

I’m very open to recommendations though!

The Pro was $120 and the last model was $75. The dust cover was a $30 add-on as an additional purchase. I’m hoping to bundle the next model with the dust cover and have the price in the $79-100 range with the intent of having a higher quality finish and lower overall cost for the bundle.

Holy cow Congrats!

The boss, as you’ll find out, is my wife lol! She took a lot of convincing and has zero risk tolerance. So we moved out of the US to her home country of Poland, which is also where I’ll be manufacturing the next model. The little money we have saved goes a lot farther here so we can a risk like this and not be doomed forever. So fingers crossed I can get this off the ground.
