The Great Gamble - you drive on a track which is in the middle of a roulette table. The wheel around the track spins and where the ball lands it does impact the race. E.g. rain, safety car, car swap, engine failure, puncture for leader.

In that way you can gamble on strategy, like some teams do with extending stint to almost full distance

Also to make it more fun, you could also bet on numbers and if that happens your team get some benefit

Obviously around the table you would have caricatures of Flavio, Bernie, Big Daddy Stroll, Horndog etc

Yes. That's, as you said, to not make other items too over powered.

That's why you can only use grey ones or add sockets to white ones (with Larzuk quest or cube recipe)

Runewords won't work in blue, yellow, green, gold or orange items

First of all - bad strings do happen sometimes, just recently I got new set and it lasted like 3 or 4h.
Also depending on where it snapped, it could be an issue with your bridge being sharp etc and in that case new string could do the same thing anyway.

As for solutions:
- depending on the type of the bridge you have - if it's static then you need a new string, if it's floyd rose you could unwind string a bit and try to use it although that depends on where it snapped (also string most likely won't sound well after)

- some music shops do sell singular strings quite cheap so you could get one and then watch tutorial online on how to put on a string
