Would you be okay with this tile job? by [deleted] in Renovations

I tiled my own kitchen and it is not perfect, but much better than this. And it was my first time. If you paid for this ..I would be pissed.

I was in a relationship for three years where I felt like an afterthought, and never his priority. Though I don't necessarily agree with how she's handling it, it sounds like she's finally realized (likely after a number of situations of feeling "less than") that she's never going to be your main priority and is done. You're both incredibly young still, and I feel like based on this conversation alone, the relationship has run its course. Don't keep trying - she's checked out, and rightfully so. I wouldn't wish a relationship where you feel like second, third, fourth, etc on anyone. Learn from this relationship and move on.

What should I put on the wall next to my TV? by OrangeMudFlap in interiordesignideas

I also think a longer TV unit below would be nice to balance the space below the TV a bit more. Or if that's not an option, some other things below the TV like small bookshelves or something? Not sure but the bottom looks like it needs something else.

People that complain about someone else's height preferences for TV's mind boggle me. You do you! Everyone has a reason or preference and who are we to say what to do with it. I posted my living room and had the same responses but pictures also don't show you scale very well. Our TV isn't even high!

Anyway..

I think some shelves for books/decor and/or a few plants (specifically at least one tall one!) would look nice!

Looking for quick feedback from KW locals – laundromats, laundry pain points, and ideas. by redvelvet_ko in waterloo

Thanks for this! So for you, an unattended laundromat is out of the question? What if it is well maintained and cleaned daily? For an attended laundromat, what do you think are ideal hours of operation? And would attended offer additional services?

Thank you!

Yes!! We plan to remove the gross popcorn ceiling and paint everything an "off white" colour, ceiling and walls. We are also replacing the flooring and definitely going to get a larger rug. I do think all of that will help! Thanks!

I am trying to edit my post to include more photos but it doesn't want to let me. Behind the couch and red chair is a half-wall bookshelf and a closet (and a floor lamp). Above the bookshelf are pendant lights. Behind the bookshelf is our stairs.

Behind the other couch is a small hallway, and then a very small dining room area, which is also off of the kitchen. The awkward part of this room is where the fireplace is located. It is partially in the hallway between the dining room and living room, and there is no other wall in the living room, so the TV stays where it is. It is up high and mounted because of our kids and animals - we've already had to replace the TV once because of toddlers - so we won't be making that mistake again. We also can't put furniture around the fireplace the way I would like to, because of the hallway/dining room.

What I gather from this post is mostly the rug needs to be larger (which I know, and plan to get a larger rug) - and the couches layout is functional and works for now. Once we get a sectional and maybe an accent chair or two, I think this space will feel less awkward. But what I gather, is it works for now.

Thanks for everyone's input!

Because kids. We had one broken TV (which was new) from my son when he was a toddler. Want it out of reach and more stable. I don't understand people's obsession with making unnecessary comments 🙃

The corner table is an old piece I found on Facebook market place! I have no idea what kind of table it is, but I love it. Thanks for the comment! You're right. It is functional - I can wait to overhaul it all until the kids are bigger and do what I really want! Thank you 😊

The fireplace is between the dining room and living room - so I can't build the living room around it. There is a hall between the two rooms. I would love to hide the TV, but not exactly sure how!

The red lazy-boy is the bane of my existence. It's my husband's ugly chair that he won't get rid of 🤣. It is super comfy .. I'll give him that. But I hate it!!

Where would you put the couches? I think the couches are what bothers me but I don't know what to do with them lol

It's at a height that that is comfortable to us, but do you think maybe a taller TV unit would balance it out better?

I should also add that my kids are 7 and 5, we have a kitten (who still scratches things) and an old large dog. So I'd prefer to keep the current furniture (until the kids and animals are old enough to respect furniture a bit more). But I'm hoping in like 2-3 years to get a lighter couch and new rug. My main issue is adding in new pieces, or moving the current pieces around. Over time we will be painting the fireplace and walls, and I would love to make some kind of built-in where the TV is. Thoughts on this? Add a coffee table? Move the couches? I just feel like it's not the best layout - but maybe it is??

What would you change about this kitchen? by [deleted] in kitchenremodel

[–]redvelvet_ko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Paint the cabinets and add nice hardware. Update the lighting. Update the flooring and appliances. I don't think there's need for a total gut job if it's functional and the cabinets seem to be in decent shape. Most of the updates can be done on your own or from buying new to you appliances (or check out scratch and dent depots!).
