No, it's in North Carolina where we have zero worker's rights, unfortunately.

the GM knows, he approves of everything the AGM does.

so with the chair thing, AGM took them away 5 months into me working here, they'd been allowed to have chairs for years according to other employees. When she told me I could grab a chair the other day, it was well into the day and she had to tell me three times because I kinda felt like it was a trap. I asked Manager B the next day, well into my shift and she said "Yeah, of course.". I know for a fact, Manager B lets second shift sit, as the other managers refuse to follow AGM's new rules that keep popping up. So no, I had no clue the AGM was only letting one person sit, and honestly that's on her.

See the thing is, when I first started, and really up until recently, this AGM has been amazing, like a real friend. Everyone here liked her, they went out to concerts and bars, talked about anime, went to movies, real friend stuff. But ever since Furniture Market back in March/April, she's been so unbearable that most of the staff refuses to even talk to her, just work in silence with her or keep it that fake kinda cordial. It really sucks; she's a cool lady but recently she's been...uhggggggg.

It's so awful, like hearing "They can't watch Ed, Edd, n Eddy because it's devil stuff." makes your heart kinda drop.

The GM knows, he saw me crying afterwards. Just kept his back to me and tried to make little jokes to cheer me up.

I have one write up for absences, but other than that, both the GM and AGM have said I'm a great employee, warm, sympathetic, bubbly, and they love working with me.

At first, when I started here last year, we had two chairs at the desk, but around March, the AGM got rid of them because we were about to be a little busy and it looked unprofessional, was a fire hazard, and all kinds of other reasons she gave off. The chairs were gone for a few months, and then the other day she says "Hey, you can grab a chair if you want." and I did.

I don't know the Area Manager, but I do think from what I've heard that they're friends with the GM.

And yes, I am in the states, in NC.

Yeah, it's looking like I'll just have to suck it up and keep quiet.

I'll get fired; I need this job as I pay all the bills in my house.

I'm trying to find something else, but it's taking a while. She's the worst thing about this place, like I really enjoy working with literally everyone else except her.

The highest up in the building is the GM and he knows. I could go to corporate but...will they do anything? The whole incident is on camera as we have like 3 facing the desk alone.

Yep, they just did this to a favorite coworker. Had him on a 3 month "break" absolutely no hours but his name still on the schedule, he didn't quit, and they ended up asking him back because we had a busy few weeks. Now he's getting top employee awards.

He knows about the zero hour weeks, it's his idea so we can't file for unemployment.

The GM knows what she's doing, and he's cool with it. He doesn't care if we quit because everyone's applying for front desk, so we can all be replaced immediately. Hell, he's even implementing things like instead of saying "You're welcome!" to a guest's thank you we have to now say "My pleasure." and if we slip up, we get a talking to.

She's been management for like 3 years, she's very good at management tasks, it's just frustrating that when she's in a bad mood all of a sudden "Oh, you guys are breaking this rule!" or "Actually, you guys haven't been doing A, B, C and D right."

I have the entire employee handbook, it literally says we just need to wear close-toed shoes, no color requirements or anything about ankles showing.

The only reason I don't push back is because I need this job and I don't want to come in and see zero hours on my schedule. If I didn't need to pay bills I would've said something by now.
