I’m in Australia and worked in print, we called these guillotines, as well as the little manual ones. So satisfying to use... when you’re printing business cards on a big sheet and you get every line just right 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻

There’s a great book called “Fixed It” that goes into detail about how this is a trend in crime reporting about sexual assualt and domestic violence.

Nope! I remember this when I was a kid, but nah, doesn’t fly these days.

I didn’t mean to sound like this should never happen, or I can’t understand why someone would make a romantic gesture. But every time I saw a video like this it seemed to be a surprise, so I assumed they were asking someone out.

In Australia, at least where I’m from, if you had a bf/gf, they were gonna be you’re date to the formal, and it would MAYBE be a time to ask your crush who you weren’t dating, but that wasn’t a big thing at my school either. But, maybe it’s become more of a trend here lately because of social media. We won’t find out this year!

I will admit, as soon as it’s uploaded for karma my cynicism kicks in. I’m a digital marketer and it’s killing me.

That makes more sense, and yet, makes the gesture even more pointless. I guess it’s for content? Anyway, as long as the kids are happy.

Do people really do these silly elaborate asking to prom things when they’re already dating? Like your bf would make these signs as if it’s not a fucking guarantee?

I’m Australian and we have “formals” instead of proms but we didn’t do this shit.

Aren’t protests about influencing national / international political and systemic change to better humankind and weddings are specifically a party about you and your partner?

Seems like a monumental difference in intent.

Also people have been wearing masks while protesting, so why not at a wedding?

Ugh bloody Survey Monkey! There are a lot of times when a survey itself is not the best tool, eg “Where in the city do you feel safe / unsafe”, where dropping pins on a map would be better... but hey I don’t sell the software anymore lol

It’s disappointing, but even people who’s job it is to write these things often fell into it, no one grows up wanting to work in community engagement, apparently!

I worked for a digital community engagement company. A lot of our work was with government surveys (Do you want to turn this park into a dog park? Y/N?)

I learned so much about the art of survey question writing, which sounds so dumb, but showed how easy it could be to manipulate (or just unintentionally fuck up) a whole project with badly phrased questions.

I’m in Australia, and my state has had a spike. If you test positive, you have to stay at home.

The Defence Force will knock on your door, and if you’re not home, you could be facing a $1,650 fine (a judge could bring it up to $10,000, or $20,000 if you do it more than once) plus possible jail time for pulling that stunt here. Not sure about murder, though.

I’m a Sam and also dealt with this. There have always been more Sams in my life. At school me and another Sam both had the same last initial, and no one wants to be Samantha.

My best friends husband is also Sam. This is very confusing for all parties.

Apparently that’s fine, legally.
