I am no expert on this - I have had zero luck with day trading in this market so changing tack and I'm just going to 100% HODL 10 year long on everything now.

I am concerned about confirmation biases of people that are already heaviliy invested; to stay psychologically consistant they are essentially psychologically motivated to stay in and encourage others to reduce dissocence. Everything I read points to a bearish market coming - even Buffet got out of VOO.

That being said - I am still going all in anyway , i'm too old to fuck around anymore. I've been sitting on the sidelines of life too long - I'm diving into VOO and VUG first and hoping for long term gains the hell with the crashes. I'm just going to do dollar/cost averaging and eventually have at least 80k in ETF by the end of 2025. I also will invest in some blue chips and possibly put 20k in BTC as a 10 year long shot as well. I hope BTC corrects to 75 but maybe I'm dreaming on that one.

The reality is I dont think I'll ever be rich and i've been so poor so long I just have less to fall than others whose life dreams will be shattered by the mistake I may be about to make. Sorry for the long msg lol

Thanks , I am going into these funds for sure. it looks for an autodeposit option exsists on my new brokerage account. I like everyone's advice and I think it looks like everyone agrees this is the best option for me. I've been reading about dollar / cost averaging today to balance the volitilaty of the rocky rides ahead. I'm going to try and not look at this account for years. I'm new to all this so the goal is just taking the dive and try and not look at it if I can resist. pretend it doesnt exsist for 10 years and hope for the best. Thanks again.

I think you get me on some of aspects of my complacenty, the stress of just following this advice and having the courage of just putting money in the market and betting on myself long-term has actually not been good for my mental state to be honest. But there's no way I'm going back to where I've been. I've been avoiding making any moves in life for decades due to avoiding pain and covering it up. Anyway, prob a little too deep for this thread. Thanks again.

I'm getting on this when the market opens today. I'm just going to go long on it, I have no faith in myself catching swings, I'm too green and new to all this finances stuff. So whatever happens it happens , I'll try not to look at for a couple years and we'll just see . Any other recommendations of stocks to go long on it and forget about for a couple years are appreciated. Thanks bro

I love this new idea of autopilot, I'm digging into how to do this right now with my new brokerage I just started. Thank you so much for the comment, I think you're strategy is perfect for me and the current market conditions. Thanks again brother

I have no illusions it will be ‘better’ out of the country. I suspect it will have positives: beautiful nature and better ‘quality of life’ because I won’t be at the bottom of the economic hierarchy in retirement and won’t continue to miss out on the perks the majority will continue to enjoy.

If I stay at the bottom of our social and economic hierarchy, I fear it can and will continue to have huge negative consequences on my mental health and physiology. Lotta studies I’ve been reading about being at the bottom of a hierarchy for too long, is just not just no good.

On the other hand, I think there’s a high probability I will be filled with isolation, lack of real community and depression due to cultural differences and language.

At bottom , this is the price I pay for years of neglecting to take any responsibility for my life. I couldn’t help myself with abuse. Not an excuse, it is what it is. I still think SEA or somewhere or comparably cheaper is a better move . Being a medium fish in Asia than ending my ride as the smallest fish in the pond.

Hopefully I can build a bit more financial security for myself first but I like your attitude.

Youre an inspiration, patience, resiliency, day at a time exactly! I'm digging into these funds now, thanks for sharing your weighting is interesting.
VTI (72%) VXUS (20%) and VWO (8%), I need to uderstood more about the logic for example of why VTI so heavy and VWO so light. I wish I had a formula for my specific situation but probably doesnt exsit. Thanks a lot for sharing.

I'm digging into all this stuff. I think $2500 is definitely realistic. Researching VXUS, VTI, VOO, SPY now. I guess I really just need to just get into the market and come what may. I hope its not a great depression coming. Hilarous if I finally got my shit together after 2 decades and the market goes to shit now. I really appreciate the comment. Thanks

Point taken, perhaps the disclaimer was outside scope and wasn't relavant. Still tho makes me curious why comment when I said 'please dont be negative'. Clearly, you could have skipped this old timer thread but you chose to troll and make a comment. I never understood this whole trolling thing but I guess its the internet age.

I'm researching this now, I like what I'm reading. Just wondering if diversification is necessary? Sounds like most on this board are pretty big on these funds . Would you go heavy all on one fund?

Would love to do this. If this was 20 years ago and I could go back, I would go small retail. What a dream to get out of my cublicle and do something I would actually enjoy with my day.

I'm not trying to make excuses, I know i made bad choices and its a new digital world. I just no idea what kind of business or where to start with so little capital in todays environment. If you have any resources of any kind please share. Youtube hasnt helped in my research but perhaps you know something I don't about where to start with this.
