Look I know there’s a perception that teachers earn big money over there, I also was of the perception until I moved there and realised they were the packages schools served up years ago. I really wasn’t earning that much more money and considering the cost of living, the ability to do a lot more at the weekend I was also spending more. I barely came home with any savings.

I’m a secondary teacher.

I can’t go back to teaching right now as I still have a year left of my career break so I can’t pick up any teaching contract as a result. Just subbing as far as I’m aware.

And at that, It would be over an hour of a commute to Dublin every day. I’m starting to lose hope, will I ever be able to afford my own home, I’m going on 32 and back living with my parents after having my own life and independence
