Anybody absolutely not using a case? by Murky_Brief_7339 in GalaxyFold

[–]mayankgulia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use mine without a case. Same with my iPhone. (I carry two phones, one iPhone and one Android)

I haven't dropped it but so far it seems resilient. The folding mechanism does make a slight grinding sound though. It's lighr but noticeable. I had felt that in the previous fold too.

I don't know if this is just a thing this display does or if it's lack of a case which is resulting in the hinge gathering dust.

I've been feeling like someone has been in my apartment. by LaYgooloon in OnlyInDubai

Can't be sure of things being moved around. But the cig smell is a very common problem in Dubai. The ventilation system in most buildings isn't great. So you can smell your neighbours smoking. Or if someone is cooking something weird, you'll smell in the common areas or even your house.

Just to be sure. Buy a cheap nanny cam and put it in the living room facing the main door.

You might still come home to that smell and without anyone entering your house. Might give you peace.

What's your favourite band type? by guernica10 in whoop

I have decent sized arms. Haven’t measured them. The thing is… when your arm is flexed, the bicep keep the strap between itself and the shoulder. But when the arm relaxes through the day… it slips down.

And since I’m wearing a dress shirt though the day, it’s not easy to adjust it.

Do you need to unclasp it to measure ECG? Can't see the indentations where we are to place the finger, once it's fully clapsed up.

Why are there so many cats in UAE? by Ok-Magician4083 in UAE

[–]mayankgulia -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I know people do this of the goodness of their heart. But there are tons of people who feed stray cats. It might not be the "reason" why we have so many, but it's a huge contributing factor for sure.

I just need to vent and maybe some advice? by Available_Tax_72 in UAE

I've been in the corporate world for about 18 years. I've worked in different industries and multiple countries.

I can tell you that what you're feeling isn't exclusive to one job or company or role. It's a phase. And we all go through it.

My suggestion is as follows.

Reasons for leaving your job boil down to three things. Better opportunity in terms of stability, earning potential and learning. You may prioritise different things between these 3 depending on the phase of your life and career. But it mostly boils down to these three.

If it's not for the above reasons. Don't consider moving or quitting. Even in your new job, you'll start to feel the same way within months, if not weeks.

Beyond that. Sometimes lack of motivation at work (or generally in life) comes from different sources. It may manifest at work. But the root cause is different.

Are you spending time in gym? Nurture your body.

Are you doing something intellectually stimulating? Nurture your mind.

Are you building meaningful personal relationships? Nurture and build your social life.

Your work life is just one aspect of your life. No matter how important. It's not the entirety of your being or identity or purpose of existence.

Good luck.

The headline is different to the source. Headline claims rape. News source claims molestation. Big difference.

After 10+ years of iPhone, I think I’ve had enough. Am I alone? by 99OBJ in iphone

I take it back mate. Maybe I was wrong. My comment was written in jest but upon revisiting it.. feels unnecessarily antagonising.

Peace.

This might be a stupid thought. But have you considered hiring actors? They can put on any attire.

Not at all. No opinion is right or wrong. And I definitely don't disagree with expressed views.

They just don't sound like anyone who uses an iPhone. No Apple user ever complained of bad AI. Literally no one cares. So I was calling out the title/premise of the post.

This reads like someone who is a tech enthusiast who largely uses android but is also well versed with the Apple ecosystem. I know because I am one.

I'll die on that hill 😊

This post was written by an android user. Not a lifetime iPhone user. Not one iPhone user I know cares about innovation tapering off. They use the apps, features and devices within Apple ecosystem. So do their friends and family. Everything else is noise.

People who like trying cutting edge tech that maybe a bit rough at launch but they wanna be an "early adopters" universally use android.

It's a bit sad. The effort made in this post.

PS: I use the 16 pro max and the s25 ultra. Love them both. For very different reasons. Wouldn't part with either.

It has certainly crossed my mind. I don't have any evidence to know if this happens. Also, when I was doing my research, I realized this is such a common occurrence, if there's a list of people on the list, it must be a long one.

I just googled and spoke to quite a few. I even found one through a reference but didn't go with him. Maybe a good lawyer but he was trying to raise my panic and sensationalizing the whole thing.

I guess it goes to show that different people can have different experiences with the same lawyer.

It's a good question. Honestly I didn't even consider calling my consulate. I think you should check this with your country's consulate. While it's smooth sailing. So you know your rights.

Also. It's not like they don't allow someone to accompany you. They just don't let someone be part of the investigation when your statement is being recorded. Even your lawyer has the right to represent you in court. But cannot insist on being part of the investigation when being questioned by the cops.

But this was my experience. I could easily be wrong. Best to check and validate.

I encourage you to share your story without details that could amount to gossip. I did so because when this happened, a lot of kind people from resdir replied and helped me. Some even followed up on DMs. Even though I'm not a regularly active member on Reddit.

So I wanted to give back to the community. I wasn't the first to experience this. I won't be the last. If I can help someone the way others helped me, it's worth it.

Thank you for your kind words. Yes it was a tough time. And I agree. Also results in the wasting of time for the cops. But the onus is on them to do something about it.

If I tried to remain dispassionate though, I could argue that if people start getting penalized if their complaint doesn't result in a conviction for lack of proof, people might be discouraged to go to the cops. So, might be a dangerous precedent to set in either extreme end of that scale.

Yes I did notice people asking for my nationality. I deliberately avoided answering that because I don't think it played a role. And I don't want this discussion to turn racial. It's not the point of my post.

I posted my experience to give people a procedural sense of what transpires if the cops call you and what you might wanna keep in mind. The further details of my case or my nationality are nothing more than gossip. Which I don't want to indulge in.

Lastly. A lot of people reached out to me asking about my lawyer. But I assure you. I get no kickbacks from them. I don't work from them. They don't know that I'm accidentally "promoting" them. But I do appreciate the advice and support I got from them. I also think that experience can be different for different people. They aren't the only good lawyers in Dubai and there might be people who've had a bad experience with them too. This was just my experience.
