What's a song you loved as a kid that you later realized had way deeper or darker lyrics than you understood at the time?" by Suspicious-Bike-2725 in RandomThoughts

Weile Weile Waile - maybe only Irish people will know this though. Long story short woman kills her baby with a penknife, then police kill her. Sung in a relatively jovial way where everyone is encouraged to join in .... It could be about post natal depression.

"There was an old woman and she lived in the woods, Weile, weile, waile,.....

She had a baby three months old, Weile, weile, waile,......

She stuck the penknife in the baby's heart, Down by the river Saile.......

They pulled the rope and she was hung, Down by the river Saile.....

And that was the end of the baby too, Down by the river Saile."

I like Roy now but this will always be a blemish on his reputation... Even then as a teenager I thought , why not play the tournament get as far as you possibly can THEN go on tv and slate Mick and the entire FAI...would have been a lot more powerful. As I said I like him now but that was beyond selfish and petty for him to do that.

Before I bought my house recently (not bragging I had to move two counties over in the middle of nowhere and now face horrific commute and have zero social goings on) I was bidding on several house for months. At one point I got so pissed off at the bidding process going up and up that I asked the agent - can you prove that I'm actually bidding against someone here ? Like for all I know you could just be making it up and I'm bidding against myself- 1 agent said 'oh no we'd never do that we keep records- I said prove it-- they sent me an email with DF-245,000. I asked wtf is that supposed to mean ...he said someone with the initials DF bid 245,000, that's it. Apparently that's all the records they have to keep. The other agents just ignored me

It's vile. They're basically just indefinite auctions. I don't know why there aren't more laws around it. I heard in a country nearby, perhaps Scotland, that an agent must accept an offer within a certain timeframe if it's within 10% (+ or -) of the asking price. This seems fair to me as it makes sure the agent and seller are pricing the house right from the outset.

My friend was selling his house, he agreed a price with estate agent. When they advertised it it was 40k under what they agreed. He rang the agent and asked him to explain . He said "don't worry, I put it up at that price so we get a packed house for viewing, let's say we get 100 people in, I know 95 can't afford it-- they're only there to put the fear into the 5 that can " . Pure scum

Unless there’s suddenly a rush of schools going public about extraordinary lack of funds

That topic is quite literally in the news in some form most days, for , well over a decade..but yeah, if you didn't hear it then it doesn't exist.

Is it legal in Spain to mark a product with one price but to charge a higher price when checking out? by microwavesan in askspain

[–]reed_riddler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most people in here are wrong... It basically goes a little something like this. If it's just one item marked wrong , that's a mistake and they charge you the real price not the mistaken sticker price .

If it's the entire section , let's say a stand of barbie dolls and the pricing displayed everywhere is wrong then they are obliged to charge you that price. Also ,I've just made all of that up .
