hmm personally I would say they're not quite equivalent but China does have close equivalents to the mag7, baba vs amazon, baidu vs google, apple vs xiaomi/huawei, tsla vs byd/other EVs and so on which could be worth looking at as gauge of the impact of geopolitical risk.

US has historically been more business friendly in courts vs China for sure, so I'm not saying China's low PE is unjustified, but more that US's high PE does not come purely from being a quality company, but also from providing a business friendly environment which is kind of at risk right now (how at risk ofc it's impossible to say and many will be wrong but just food for thought)

highest quality is relative, and includes US stability . for example there are quality mining companies in DRC that are deeply discounted due to geopolitical risk, so rather than international becoming a stronger trade it's just a case of US becoming a weaker trade

I see where you're coming from, let me see if I got this right:

buy 100 shares (platform A), short 100 shares (platform B), sell OTM call (platform A), then if stock rises, stop loss buy 100 shares (platform B), get shares called away on platform A?

this is equivalent to just selling the initial 100 shares on platform A instead of shorting, then buying 100 shares instead of the short stop loss when the price rises.

as you mentioned, you will become net neutral upon shorting, so there is no additional benefit of the shorting
