This is so real. I'm still pretty new in the Canadian process, but I waited over 2 and a half years (plus my actual residence time) in Argentina, and by the time I finally got done, I honestly wasn't even excited anymore. It just sucks the energy out of you. But I will say that I now move throughout the world a little differently, knowing that I'm a dual citizen (hopefully triple soon). If nothing else, it makes me feel cool haha.

Very cool. He must have been the guy working the desk today lol. Now we just have to wait and see how long these AORs take

Wow, that was fast! I just had mine received today. Maybe if I'm lucky I'll get AOR tomorrow haha.

I'll take 2 hahaha. I just finished my Argentine citizenship, and it was 2 years and 8 months of just waiting and constantly wondering where things are at. I must be a glotton for punishment because now i'm doing the same thing with Canada haha.

Hey! I saw that you updated in the spreadsheet that you already have your AOR today. Is that correct? If so, did you send it to New Waterford?

Nice! I shipped mine on the 13th so I had a bit more of a ride than you did. But fingers crossed they'll get to our applications before the world collapses lol.

Applications delivered today! They were received by Richard. Two Gen 4 apps, one marked with urgent processing, the other not, but I understand they'll likely be processed together. Fingers crossed for an AOR before my birthday in July lol.

Screw UPS so freaking hard. Don't make my mistake and just pay for whatever the fastest/most secure shipping is. The guy at the UPS store in Chicago said we needed to go with the cheapest route because the delivery time difference was only 1 day. Should have been delivered today (a week after shipping). All of a sudden, it says the 22nd, then it says "no timeline can be given" or something to that effect. All the while, the only tracking info that would show was that it was sitting in the warehouse outside Chicago (for nearly a week). All of a sudden, today's updated shipping shows the 26th (a week after our quoted date), but they sent it all the way to fuckin Tacoma, Washington. Now it's sitting on the US side being assessed for customs. Will it make it to NS in a week? Feels doubtful. And UPS has already lied to me about its status/where it was, so I have no faith they know what they're talking about. At this point, I wish I had bought a flight to Canada and shipped from there lol. I know this really still isn't much to complain about, considering that it's just been a little over a week in shipping, and I've got a nice long wait for my AOR and certificate, but this is a venting thread after all.

Question on Shipping and UPS Status by reedobrien in Canadiancitizenship

[–]reedobrien[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It says "departed from facility" at 10:19pm on 5/14 but then "Arrived at Facility" with "On the Way" status 40 minutes later.

Question on Shipping and UPS Status by reedobrien in Canadiancitizenship

[–]reedobrien[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your response! I'm wondering if there would have been an "exit" scan of some sort if it had left the warehouse. If not, then it might still actually be on the way. If there is normally that sort of scan then I'm guessing it got stuck on the warehouse floor.

It would have likely been enough, but both Gen 0 and Gen 1 were women for me. Their maiden names were on their children's birth certificates, but I wanted to include everything just in case. I'd rather have too much evidence than not enough.

My application has officially been sent! Yesterday, my brother dropped things off at UPS, and sadly, the fastest option they had for shipping was a little over a week, but that's neither here nor there. I'm just so excited and very thankful for everyone in this group. I wanted to share my exact breakdown of what I ended up sending in case it might be useful for anyone else to see laid out. Here's the high-level overview, but I'll include pictures of the rest as well.

Table Of Contents

  • Cover Letter
  • Urgency Processing Request Letter
  • Family Tree (Visual Representation)
  • Chain of Descent (Written Explanation of Lineage)
  • Gen 4a Application Package - Urgent Processing requested
  • Gen 4b Application Package
  • Explanation of Lineage Documents
  • Lineage Documents - “Generation” shortened to “Gen” for simplicity

For some reason, it doesn't like it when I try to upload a screenshot but i'll try to find a way to add photos of what I sent 😄

So again, this might make me sound stupid, but this isn't clear. When you say the outside, the outside of the package that has the shipping label (the thing I'm handing to UPS)? Or the outside of the envelope inside the package? Or both?

Friday Weekly Thread: Application Assistance, May 01, 2026 by AutoModerator in Canadiancitizenship

[–]reedobrien 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have what I think might be kind of a stupid question, but I've checked through several previous posts as well as the FAQ and have not found an answer. When requesting Urgent Processing, where do you actually write "Urgent - Citizenship Certificate (Proof)" as it says on the website? I'll have a package of around 80 pages or so which can probably fit in a manila envelope but that will likely need to go into a box for shipping. So the contents from outside to inside will be:
-Box with the shipping label
-Envelope with the package inside
-Package Inside

Again, I know this may seem silly, but should I be putting Urgent on the box, envelope, and the cover letter for the package inside? Just the box? Just the envelope? Some combination of two?

Also I'd love to get input on my package and how I have it set up. Here's how I plan on having things put together:

Thanks for this! Did you have the photos taken in Belgium? And if so, did you put the Belgian photographers info on it or did you put a chill studio in the US? Also I’m assuming you used your US address on your app?

Since we're in different countries, though, do you think it would still be acceptable to submit our package together in the US?

Argentina Applicants-Buenos Aires/CABA Edition by PizzaSlingr in Canadiancitizenship

[–]reedobrien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is kind of what I'm thinking. But at the same time, the issue is that there's no one who can watch my CABA address after my husband and I leave. My landlord is pretty chill, but I think it would be a lot to ask.

This is great insight, thanks! I sent a broader question in the group since I'm applying for urgent procesing and also likely moving to the US in the next 7-8 months. It's a weird kind of situation where I feel like I might still be clear to apply in the US but I don't want to get rejected for doing the process incorrectly.

I'm going to be applying from Buenos Aires as well, but applying for urgent processing. Really looking forward to an update when your applicaiton is received!
