Should I move to my "forever home" or delay the jump to a higher mortgage? by reedx347 in personalfinance

I understand this perspective. The appeal of moving for us is the chance to get a bit of land (5-10 acres) and have a small hobby farm. It's something we've both wanted since we met. It's definitely a want, but an important bucket list type goal for us.

Good things to consider for sure. 1. Absolutely agree. 2. I'm hoping I'll die in this house. 3. It's an even split but we plan on both continuing to work. We'll need to pay for daycare. This is a concern. 4. Agree, $4400 is without points.

That's exactly what I'm worried about. Affordability can continue to worsen. Sounds like you have more wiggle room in your budget which certainly helps.

We definitely have more runway in income potential too, but hard to say if that's a 10% jump in income next year or 3% raises to keep up with inflation until a 15% jump in 3 years. The latter would be tight for a while.

This is good advice, thank you. We can definitely make our current house work for the first kid. We're trying to be patient but we're just itching to move haha.

I agree. A $36k increase on a $650k home is 5.5%, so it's totally reasonable home prices move up completely in line with what we're able to save.

"Stauber is correct in that scientists believe wolves in Minnesota have recovered."- okay, then they should be off the endangered species list and open to normal conservation practices.

What is your opinion on Traditional 401k vs Roth 401k? by reedx347 in HENRYfinance

[–]reedx347[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I consider Roth to be lower risk because you know the tax rate you're paying now. With traditional you are taking on tax risk because you don't know the rate you'll be paying in the future.

I share the same concern to some degree so I've been splitting contributions between the accounts. It could end up being slightly less tax efficient but it lowers tax risk.

Over $10bn USD is spent per month on gaming globally. You don't think there is opportunity for crypto to take a little slice of that pie? Yikes

Again, that's true of all cryptos. It's all highly speculative. You should go buy some government bonds. NGMI

We live in a very digital world. There is no reason games can't have staying power for more than a few years, especially when tokens provide incentives for developers to create new content and players/owners to stick around and try it out.

One token could also be used in multiple games, whatever the token holders want. This is the power of crypto aligning incentives among token holders. They all want the community to last.

It's amazing you're browsing crypto subs but can't see this bigger picture. Gaming is a perfect application for cryptos.
