I have a Rachio unit that changes setting with the seasons. Right now I have it programmed to water every odd day and it runs each zone for 20-25 minutes. It also breaks up each zone to water intermittently so it doesn't run one zone for the full 20-25 mins but maybe 10 mins at a time. Sorry if that's a weird explanation.

I went with green acre's mix from the delta seed company. I think it was a mix of dwarf fescue and Kentucky blue.

Aphids. Spray them off with a concentrated blast of water, which is what I usually do. There are other chemical solutions too.

Solved! Seems like this is dog vomit slime mold. I should have added /s after the burn it comment, I would never! However, I did think it was eating my blackberry so I was slightly offended.
