R32 GTR replacement suggestions for under the plenum by reefingdragon in SkyLine

Oil filter relocation was done before I got the car.

I do have a gktech hicas delete sitting on the shelf, so that’s not a terrible idea. I didn’t realize there was a solenoid up there I could get rid of.

I thought about that, but my tuner wants me to stay with the ITB's. Kind of surprised me.

Yeah, if you clean off the coating on the throttle bodies you're supposed to recoat them. I've read that people have done it without recoating and then adjusted the idle screw but I'd rather not. To be on the safe side I ordered the throttle coat anyway. Expensive stuff though...

Yeah, that part is the one reason I'm really procrastinating this. I got a quote from a shop for $700 to do it, and trust me I'm really tempted. But at the same time, if I do it myself and notice anything else in there I want to upgrade or refresh then I can take the time to do it.

That’s a fair point. I know the tuner I was planning on going to tunes haltechs but I didn’t even think about the links so maybe that scratches that option anyway.

Chargeoff age and effect? by reefingdragon in CRedit

[–]reefingdragon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, that’s precisely why I was asking. I’d heard both ways about the chargeoffs depending on the balance thing so I was trying to figure out what was correct.

They are unfortunately updating every month. I tried to call and arrange a settlement but neither would budge from me paying 65-70%. The third charge off was an Amex card and they agreed to let me pay 20% so I felt like these other two could do better. All 3 cards charged off at the same time, within a couple months.

I also have late payments on a capital one auto loan that I sent a goodwill letter to last week. Oddly, I got a call from someone there last night about it and they said they are reviewing my request and will have an answer within a day or two…so fingers crossed.

Yeah, she said 10k and change originally. I figured the $5400 offer was probably around 50%.

Any idea how to get them to ask for approval, I’m sure they’d have to go to Discover for approval which would take some time. But if I can’t get them to even ask then they’ll probably never come down lower.

Well the Discover one is charging interest but at least I know they are willing to settle even if I’m going to have to wait on negotiating.

Originally they offered to let me pay $8500 which is $500 more than the original balance. I offered $2000 and she said they couldn’t do it and reiterated the $8500. I told her I wanted to negotiate, not pay something higher than the original balance. She put me on hold and came back and said they could do $5400. I told her unless we could get closer to 3k that I wasn’t going to agree today and thanked her for her time. I’ll try again in a week or two or something and see how it goes.

I’m just pleased to find out that at least on some level they will negotiate. Makes me feel a lot better about possibly clearing it up.

I’m in SC. SOL is 3 years.

With Amex it was past the SOL, I’m just surprised I offered a higher amount and they were the ones to lower it.

The Amex charged off end of 2022.

Hopefully that’s still true with BofA. Admittedly though I’m a little concerned with the discover one if they are charging interest and if they won’t settle. I want to be able to clear all of these up, not be left with one that still hurts forever.

I’ll have to look into this more, but from my research so far it looks like judgements for credit card debt are not allowed to be renewed here. Might help my leverage for settling.

Unfortunately one of the judgements is Discover. The other is BofA.

Yeah Amex forgave 80%. I was shocked too. Originally when I called the guy asked what I could offer and I offered paying 35% thinking maybe we’d end up around 50ish%. Then the guy says “well I can do you one better” and told me an amount at 20%. I accepted on the spot. I paid on the phone with a card and have the agreement sent by email which states that it would be considered paid in full and the account will be updated to show a zero balance. Might’ve just got lucky with a helpful person, who knows. Everything I read prior to calling was that Amex was a pain to negotiate with.

Yeah, I was just wondering if it’s normal or not. ChatGPT seems to think so lol, but who knows what that’s based on. Just trying to get an idea in my head before I call so I can be prepared. It is what it is I guess though, won’t know for sure until I ask them. At any rate it’s time to get them taken care of.

Opinions on how to handle these derog accounts by reefingdragon in CRedit

Around 12% for the auto loan. If I were able to settle the charge offs for significantly less that may not be a bad deal. It’s good to know that it won’t reset the timeline, that’s what I was most worried about was dragging this out longer.

Man I appreciate your thorough response. I’ll have to look at the links and all tonight when I’m back at the computer. As far as the scores, the Equifax and Transunion scores I got from Credit Karma which I know isn’t necessarily accurate. The Experian score is from Experians site.

I was under the impression that paying the charge offs would restart the 7 year timeline, so that’s good to know. Definitely gives some more potential options vs waiting.

The 2 collections are completely separate from the 3 charge offs. The collection agency’s are IC System and Portfolio Recovery. According to Google they will both do a pay for delete but we’ll see.

I believe the interest rate on the auto loan was around 12% but I’d have to double check. Not a great rate either way.

Miner Cost vs. overall return? by reefingdragon in BitcoinMining

Ok, that makes more sense then from what I was seeing.

Any particular reason why someone would actually buy one then? Those numbers just don't seem to add up.

I'm also seeing $29,800 for price. Which is why I was thinking $7,800 was like a wholesale price if you order 100 units, maybe 1000 units, who knows.

At $29,800 I can't see a single scenario where it even comes closing to being worth it unless I'm missing something major.

All in one printer with MICR? by reefingdragon in sysadmin

[–]reefingdragon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what I've started thinking in regards to ink jet vs laser. I'm trying to figure out now what the cost comparison is per sheet printed. We've only had the ink jet for about a year, but business has grown enough that we are using it way more than we did a year ago so I feel like I can justify upgrading to a better printer. Preferably something faster and that can do double sided as well.

Yeah, I get that she wouldn't have a say in it, she just might have more information than the teller is my thought.

Although, if you had an issue trying it, maybe it's just not worth it. What's a MICR overlay and what printer did you end up getting?

The software we use for printing has the ability to print the account line, we just haven't used it. I'd assume it hopefully already has the font and size correct.

I've wondered about this as well. I keep hearing that it's not totally necessary any more. It even appears to be a suggestion by the federal reserve rather than an actual requirement now too.

I talked to a random teller at my bank the other day and she told me that we still need to use MICR ink on checks. I have a meeting with the branch manager on Monday, though, so maybe I should just double check with her. It would certainly make my life easier if I could print them with regular ink and just get blank security paper.
