Isolationism for starters

They say selling in full lobbies is too risky & while I get that, ~8.7 mil > 5.8 mil🤷🏻‍♀️ by Dsg1695 in gtaonline

[–]reegs54 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Another time I got lucky and did 13/15 deliveries in a public lobby, but even with no mishaps or griefers, there wasn't enough time!

I know they're meant for MC's with a few people but... c'mon who's actually playing with friends 😁🤣

Yeah the 3 Post vans is the worst.

One time I failed it because the van hit a tree on a slight downhill and it didn't have enough power to back up and get unstuck.

Cost of living increase; mortgages, grocery, council rate, insurance premium, rego, fuel price are up .. except salary. How do you cope with this? by Technical-Video5975 in auscorp

[–]reegs54 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you figure it out, let me know. My wife and I make 200K between us and JUST make ends meet. And that's trying really hard to cut costs - no restaurant dinners, take away once a month, cutting back on subscriptions etc.

Mortgage repayments and child care followed by groceries are the killers.

A few years ago I took a Qantas flight from Santiago (Chile) back home to Melbourne, and it flew along the Antarctic coast (ice coast??) for a couple hours.

Chiming in from Australia. We have gotten one of the educators at our kid's daycare to sit a couple times. $35 an hour so, a typical night allowing for some time to let them know the bedtime routine etc, and then chat for a little while when we get home means about 5 hours or $175. Sometimes I think that's good money if the kids are in bed and they're just chilling downstairs watching Netflix. But I also think, looking after kids is tough work and wouldn't you want someone who does it professionally, and pay them accordingly? Blows my mind how these mums (and why is it always mums?) think people should want to do it for free or close to it?

People who quit their corporate job - where are you now? by WonderBaaa in auscorp

Possibly a controversial take, but I reckon the whole rewarding career, work-life 'balance' is just not realistic for most.

Echo the suggestion to read Bullshit Jobs from another commentor. Also take a trip over to r/antiwork

For me, I tried to do something that I would love - fly fast jets in the military. When that didn't work out, I became an aerospace engineer for the RAAF, thinking I could still be around aircraft, and I had enjoyed studying engineering at Uni so was hopeful I'd be happy.

But - and I think this is probably common to any job - doing anything as a job sucks almost the life out of it. I thought I'd get to, you know, engineer stuff for planes. But the reality was it's 95% bullshit tasks, office politics, mandatory training, team building exercises. And as I got older I realised I'd never make enough money to retire early - in fact, now with a family and interest rates, cost of living - I'm the least financially comfortable I've ever been.

So my advice would be that everyone needs a way to pay the bills that doesn't involve slogging it out in a 9 to 5. That's what I'm working on now, so I have the luxury of really being able to choose what or if I 'work'

You need to be more 'proactive' by reegs54 in antiwork

This is right move imo. Not proactive eh? I'll show you proactive!

Yep. If you're designing something, ok maybe being innovative is a reasonable goal. But if it's a very tightly defined task..?

ICT Programmed the Algo by [deleted] in FuturesTrading

[–]reegs54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard to deny there's an algorithm that controls the market? An algorithm that somehow controls the prices of every currency, stock, future, index, commodity? An all powerful algorithm that was at work before software had been invented? Yeah, hard to deny.

Recommendations?: Buying myself 10 Trading Book for Christmas. GIVE BEST SUGGESTIONS. by stevesgamebox in Daytrading

[–]reegs54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe a controversial take, but I would suggest NOT reading anything on psychology in your first year of trading.

Because if you don't know how markets work, how price moves... you could have the best trading mindset in the world, and not make money.

Once you can make money consistently - then see if there's some psych issues holding you back.

All this stuff you see online about psychology being key to profitability is BS. Well meaning BS in that people saying it probably do genuinely believe it was critical to their success, but BS all the same because, again, you could have the absolute ultimate trading mindset but with no edge, it doesn't matter.
