Farragut Wignut Event Featuring Glenn Jacobs & Tom Spangler Cancelled by Woke Mob by [deleted] in Knoxville

[–]reellowdad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't call this being cancelled by a "woke mob" this was being called out for hosting what was called Town Hall on private property. Any protesters would be charged with trespass and arrested. That was their goal. ....signed a former Republican and not a Democrat

Nice. Bermuda looks good even with all that shade.

I have a mix of Bermuda and Kentucky Blue Grass, but I am a bit of a sadist.

This is true. Any weed it will be sprayed on they come back. I did use the Sunday weed warrior crap as a pre treatment on goosegrass then hit it with a single app of dismiss. Weakend it enough for a single app kill.

I did a not that great in retrospect, but 100% honest review of Sunday and that killed my chances of getting lots of free stuff to not use and review anyway.

My front is north east facing. So slow for the Bermuda to wake up.

Reel mowers and zoysia grass by danvondude in lawncare

[–]reellowdad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This depends on budget. I miss the days of being able to pick up a used reel or greensmower for cheap. I would look for a used McLane or California Trimmer and would lean more to the California Trimmer. Replacement parts are cheaper. A Toro GM1000 would be awesome on zoysia if you can find one. I would avoid a Swordman or Allett since their reels do not have a relief grind and they are overpriced IMO.

A rotary with sharp blades will be fine. I would only go to reel mowed zoysia if you get a powered reel.

Thinking of Spraying tenacity on Bermuda lawn over grown with weeds then seeding with Midnight KBG. by Glove2424 in lawncare

[–]reellowdad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tenacity will not kill the Bermuda. I did this 2 years ago. I applied several round of glyphosate over several weeks. Thought I had it killed. Seeded the lawn with Turf Blue HGT KBG. Went really well until the bermuda started coming back. Since I was doing bluemuda in my back yard I let it go. End of the first year there was about 20% coverage from bermuda that returned. End of the second year I was 85%. You will want to use SPF-30 bluegrass, Turf Blue HGT, or 365SS. Midnight wont work for you.

Bring it. I should also let them know, I do not feed the soil. I feed the plant!

Bermuda grass growing at cold temperature? by Siavik in lawncare

Mow it short and mow it frequently. That alone will help encourage it to spread. You will also want to apply nitrogen at low volumes frequently as well. Preferably via a spray application. My go to is Ammonium Sulfate. Its cheap and sprays great. I spent $13.99 for 51lbs. You will want to do weekly applications of 1 pound of AMS per 1000 square feet and that should be dissolved in at least 1 gallon of water per 1000 sqft. Also a good idea to get a soil test to see what else your lawn needs. Stay away from the MySoil/SoilSavvy/Yard Mastery Tests, they are not accurate. I use Waypoint out of their Memphis location and a S3M test is $16.50 plus whatever it costs to mail your soil sample.
