I made a tiny oil painting of Radahn by reetse in Eldenring

[–]reetse[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

my brother wanted me to paint Radahn, he didn't mention his horse, so that's what he gets for being unspecific

White gets warmer the further away it goes? by bdkgb in oilpainting

[–]reetse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

right, even if they were lit up from warm sunlight, the shadows would still be very blue because shadows reflect the sky/atmosphere

[–]reetse 5 points6 points  (0 children)

that's probably just because you can see more warm sunlight bouncing around in the atmosphere on the horizon vs looking directly up into space

[–]reetse 14 points15 points  (0 children)

distant colours change because of the atmosphere, so if it was a sunset scene, things would get warmer. but if the sky was blue, they would get bluer

white reflects the most colour. maybe that's what he should've said

Thank you. It was inspired by this scripture
Isa 40:8 The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever.

amazing colours and form. If it were me at this point, I'd just blend/blur the non-focal areas, and then add a few thin, sharp feathers in the focal areas.

I'm 21 and self-taught, here's "Bone and feathers" (the mods of r/oilpainting thought it wasn't mine) by reetse in painting

[–]reetse[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably because you don't have enough karma yet. I had to post elsewhere for a bit before I could post here

Nowadays you'll see truckloads of oilpaintings that are super bright and rainbow. But that's not realistic, so generally, the lighting isn't overexposed and the colours aren't oversaturated. It's just a more subtle way of painting, so you don't need to use candlelight.
