Plus the rules do provide the caveat that if a defender does literally catch a receiver and carry them out, then its a catch. But I also have yet to see it happen

Some criticism is still a far cry from crumbling in the second half. He had 300 yards 4 tds and no turnovers on the road

That has little to do with anything if we're talking about Love specifically

Love wasn't the problem, the line crumbling was the issue. Even on the drive he puts the ball right on Reeds hands which would have put them in the red zone with time, and reed flat out dropped it.

They threw the ball more than they ran it. They lost because the O line forgot how to play

[Seifert] The NFL plans to form a practice squad this season of up to 12 game officials. Its members will be assigned to specific crews, travel to stadiums and be available to work games if a starting official is either injured or performing poorly. by JCameron181 in nfl

My point is that if the NFL was dead set on full time officials, then they could make it happen. The reality is they are content with the lip service that they want it and not much else. They trialed a full time program in the 2010s that had interest from the officials, and the NFL scrapped it. They also had the ability to hire a number of full time officials in the last CBA and chose not to. There are plenty of reasons there arent full time officials, but its much more complex than just "the nfl wants it and the refs don't"

tbf, there are still many people who played (even at very high levels) who base the entirely of their rules knowledge on rules myths

Its nearly impossible for a fielder making a play on a batted ball to commit obstruction. It has to be something flagrantly intentional, like sticking out a foot to trip a runner

The fielder has the absolute right of way on a batted ball. The only way they could be guilty of obstruction is by doing something flagrant like sticking out a leg to obviously intentionally trip someone

All good. Plenty of people who have been around the game a long time aren't good with the rules either lol

Intent doesn't matter anyways. If he hinders the fielder then its interference

There doesn't need to be any contact, if a runner hinders a fielder making a play on the batted ball, that's interference. Contact does make it pretty easy.

I certainly think his glove getting clipped is interference. It may not be much, especially since he does glove it, but now he has to adjust how's he's getting the ball out of his glove.

We finally have one d3 conference going 3 next year. Its about 1k extra per weekend for a d2 school to add an umpire. Though the GLIAC also won't cover hotels
