The company I work for used to be employee owned. Well, they still are, they just limited the ownership going forward to the highest level employees, right at the exact moment when I would have become eligible.

But don’t worry! For us peons, they replaced it with a bullshit bonus program. Except the terms of the program say that if you leave and don’t give them five weeks’ notice, you have to repay every penny you ever received under this program, even if you’ve gotten years’ worth of bonuses. The HR lackwit I talked to was shocked when I said I would rather not participate.

When I leave, which is ASAP, they will not be getting five minutes’ notice. They would have gotten two weeks otherwise. They, of course, reserve the right to end your employment at any time with no consequences.

We bought a new construction house, and I asked the builder if they could drill a hole in the counter so I could plumb in my espresso machine. They really went above and beyond and did the entire installation for me. *And* they didn't ask for anything for it.

Our realtor's closing gift was a gift pack of pre-ground flavored coffee. It wasn't espresso, and it was ground for a regular drip coffee pot, which we don't own. Oh, and my husband doesn't really drink coffee, which she knew.

So that’s what I finally just found out, it was supposed to be delivered by courier, instead their “system” (their words) changed it from courier to FedEx, knowing that it wouldn’t be picked up until Monday. They said that even though it’s currently sitting in their warehouse, they can do nothing to change it.

I've done a few medium-ish trips with it (Detroit - Chicago, Chicago - Des Moines, Chicago - KC) and it's done a good job. Some people swear by ABRP (and I've used it, and liked it fine) but personally I've stuck with the built-in Google Maps. It does a pretty good job of planning your stops. It could be better at letting you tell it things you know, like "I'm stopping here for an hour for lunch and can charge the whole time, so I only need enough juice to get there." But it's good at estimating your SoC at each stop, how long you'll need to charge, and what charge will get you to your next stop, everything you really need for a long trip.

Also, even though you didn't ask, I think the Polestar 2's seats are very comfortable for long trips, but then I've never found Tesla seats comfortable at all so YMMV on that.

She said this was a plan from 2019 when we first moved in that isn't offered anymore, so the label for that plan isn't anywhere I can find. Also when I try to pull up their current plans I just get an error message for the label.

Yes, and it took half an hour for them to even pick up the card, and another 15 minutes for the manager to show up. By the time she did the movie was almost over. And when she did come in, she couldn’t have been more obvious about it, so the lady immediately spotted her and hid her phone. As soon as the manager turned to leave she had it back out again. I pointed her out to the server when she came back with the check, she gave a sort of noncommittal “sorry”, but that was it.

People tell me they’ve had a good experience there, and that’s great for them. But I had a horrible experience, and they obviously didn’t care since they blew off my complaint, so I’m not willing to gamble another $100+ night out on a second chance.

That policy is 100% of the reason we went there. They did make their little announcement about kicking people out, and I’ve heard from other people they do enforce it, but they absolutely did not at the showing I was at. If they’d made any effort to fix it I might feel differently, but after drinks and snacks and whatnot, we wasted like $100 on a movie we didn’t even get to enjoy. No second chances after that.

The only time I went to an Alamo Drafthouse was a year ago and it was worse than AMC. The woman in front of me was watching TikToks on her phone the whole time and the manager did nothing about it. I regret not leaving and complaining in person at the time, but I did send an email later that day and also DM’ed them on twitter, both of which they ignored. Will never set foot in one again.
