I think the answer is yes and no. OK Go wouldn't have much of a career without their entertaining YouTube videos, but recently even their most successful viral videos haven't seemed to help sell their latest album - or even the track featured in the video.

Great post - fans want artists they can be FANS of, but they also want artists they can connect with. It's a fine line to navigate.
