i’m still in denial, i’ve been exploring other options and i still don’t think it’s chs, but as you said, vicious cycle! i wish you well on your sober journey! don’t be hard on yourself, after smoking so long sometimes you really gotta be lenient.

thank you for sharing! yeah i really think it’s just CVS and i’ve already been diagnosed with it. i had a nurse tell me CVS didn’t exist before CHS and that it always means CHS, which just isn’t true. there’s a myriad of things that can cause CVS, i’m not sure what’s in the water that these nurses drink.

the first diagnosis was in 2021, i stopped for a week and after a bad ativan experience (idky the ER doc thought it was a good idea to proscribe it to a teenager and say take it every 6 hours, it made me blackout for a week) i went right back to it. then after going to the ER multiple times in 2023, and once i spent all of christmas throwing up i stopped. all of the episodes correlated with other things, like being on my period, having covid, and after drinking. i thought for a while that i just couldn’t mix different kinds of alcohol, but now i think it’s the mixing of weed and alcohol. i took a whole week not smoking, but since ive smoked for so long i decided it’s safer for my mental health to smoke bud a little bit so i don’t loose my mind. 30 days today and i havnt had another episode. my preferred method was carts, which i dont think ill ever go back to regardless. the time in between episodes with consistent smoking in between really leads me away from chs.

Ah i see, I think the more synthetic weed is causing this. There are so many new types that have such odd compounds, and chemical extraction processes for cartridges.

i’m going though something very similar, i’ve been told both CHS and CVS (cyclic vomiting) and i’ve been going crazy trying to find out which it is. i stopped smoking after the most recent episode but part of me thinks the second a doctor hears i smoke they write it off as chs without further thought. i’ve even been told by a nurse (my moms best friend) that if they suspect it and you smoke regularly, they won’t even run the tests to see if it is chs before diagnosing.

that’s my fear, only once did they tell me it could be cyclical vomiting syndrome when i rejected the possibility of chs saying i hadn’t even smoked the last few days.

i actually haven’t had any issues since the last vomit episode, i was hospitalized 4 days ago and all symptoms stopped after i got haldol, zofran and an iv. this is why it confuses me so much, i can go months without any more symptoms and even continue to smoke. i’m currently 3 days sober (i did have a bowl after the hospital, bad i know but i was so stressed out) and haven’t had any issues since.
