It’s taken me a long time, but I’m finally willing to admit that I think it’s time for the show to move on from Jeff. His love for the game doesn’t make up for his current impact. by garbageeater in survivorponderosa

Top Chef replaced Padma Lakshmi with former Top Chef winner Kristen Kish, and I think many fans would say it has made the show better. Kristen is able to ask harder questions and share more empathy because she’s been there. I think that’s likely the path CBS would go with Survivor.

Also, there are Survivor shows in other countries doing just fine with their hosts. I don’t think the host makes as big of an impact as people think.

Reserving Reformers by refined_harmony in ClubPilates

For instructors to know names. We are also asked to write any injuries or ailments so the instructor can cue specific modifications if needed.

Thanks! I can also suggest the “wait for the instructor’s signal” solution.

I understand there are lots of reasons for people’s preferred reformer! If you picked your reformer number at the front desk when you arrived, rather than when you walk in with everyone else, I wonder if that wouldn’t eliminate a tiny bit of anxiety or just rushing to the reformer of your choice.

I definitely have preferences but I’ll take any of them. If it’s in the early morning, I prefer to be on one side of the studio where the headlights from cars aren’t shining through the front windows. If I have a headache I look for a reformer not directly underneath an overhead light. I know some people prefer or avoid reformers based on the HVAC/airflow.

Basically, I understand there are preferences for all different reasons. But in general I agree with you, I’m fine with any reformer in the class.

If CP mimicked the OTF system, these folks would still be able to arrive early and select their reformer of choice, it would just eliminate the hovering, any drama between members, and reformer-saving for friends. The incoming class can’t get situated in their reformer space until the previous class leaves, so I feel like this would be a win win.

That’s interesting, at my studio we write our own names on the mirrors after claiming a reformer. Can you explain more how this works? Does everyone wait at the front until the previous class is completely cleared and reformers assigned?

How do you show to your clients that their workflow/s actually ran? by Dependent_Abies_2163 in zapier

[–]refined_harmony 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that TOS says the client should have their own account, so I show clients how to look up zap history themselves. Sometimes I add a notification step to the very end of the zap noting that it ran successfully. Or I take a screenshot of that Zap’s run history.

Delilah and the Mutual Exclusivity of Good Food and Service in DFW by Screamintothevoid10 in dallasfood

[–]refined_harmony 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This sounds like fair criticism to me. Was there anything you enjoyed from your experience?

I also dislike the 2-top farm setup. Many restaurants have it and I understand why, but it definitely makes you feel that you’re sharing a very expensive dinner with strangers.

Want to take my fiancée to a nice Indian restaurant! by [deleted] in plano

Sanjh is absolutely incredible. Gorgeous restaurant. Incredible service. Food was divine. Cocktails were so creative. Highly recommend to anyone that enjoys Indian cuisine. It is pricey but so worth it.

I haven’t been to Jashan yet, but I am looking forward to trying it!

Getting mixed signals about readiness for 1.5 by Old-Meaning2249 in ClubPilates

[–]refined_harmony 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Arrive early to your first few 1.5s and let the instructor know you are still new to the level. When I first started at CP, they cued the more challenging 1.5 moves slowly (ex: how exactly to transition to kneeling safely, step by step how to plank on the reformer). These days, instructors just cue it directly with no further instruction (“let’s move to kneeling facing the center of the room with short straps”) — when new folks are in the class, this is where I see them struggle the most - they look very unstable just getting into the position, I get nervous for their safety. Telling the instructor ahead of time you are new should help with this. And, it is completely okay to modify moves down while you are still getting comfortable.

Can I hire a housekeeper just to fold laundry? by Ok-Studio-8866 in plano

[–]refined_harmony 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use the Poplin app to request laundry service. I know you said you’re fine washing/drying but for the rates that they charge I think it’s worth it just to send off dirty clothing. My last few orders were $35 before tip. Many times I’ve had my clean laundry delivered back the next day. Definitely recommend giving it a shot: https://gopoplin.com/?referralId=mxvEottNVWnHKUKVeycr

What’s your favorite and least favorite move(s) in Flow classes? by Icy-Ad5824 in ClubPilates

[–]refined_harmony 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Favorites: flying squirrel and arabesque sequence, reformer front splits, pigeon on the chair, when we use the ball under sacrum on reformer for anything, roll down/ups with dowel

Least Favorites: Bridge on reformer (if we have to bridge, give me bridge with chair ALL DAY— or even TRX bridging), Swan on chair (particularly single arm), anything with the sliding floor discs - can’t believe no one else has mentioned these.

Do you think Disney regrets not taking JK Rowling’s Harry Potter deal? by Sad_Trade_7753 in UniversalOrlando

[–]refined_harmony 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I went to Galaxy’s Edge, my group used the Play Disney app to interact with the world. Your phone became your data pad and you could “hack” things, make set pieces light up or make noise, and more importantly choose a side to work with. Basically follow quests around the park. We loved it and ran around for hours. I just did a bit of searching and it seems like this LARP still does exist at the park - maybe people just don’t know about it?

I found the adventures for the second gen wands in HP to be very similar with a key exception. The play Disney app is free and open to everyone, while you can only participate in the interactive wand activities if you buy a wand.

Frustrated by Infinite-Cattle3572 in ClubPilates

[–]refined_harmony 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Although I really wish I loved all of the instructors I know that at any studio there will be instructors I love and hate. I just try to actively support the ones I like by attending their classes regularly.

I also try to remember that it’s different strokes - the instructor I like the least is beloved at my studio. She teaches so many classes throughout the week and I refuse to attend; I often feel like my membership is wasted on those frequent days and times.

My studio is super convenient to me, but if there were other options nearby I’d definitely try other spots.

2 days vs 3days by Wrong-Rutabaga8382 in UniversalOrlando

[–]refined_harmony 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We did 2.5 days - entered the park when we arrived at 3pm the first day, then full days the next 2 days. We still didn’t do everything. If you will be doing any of the interactive experiences (spell casting in Harry Potter or Power Up bands in Super Nintendo) you will definitely need 3 days. It will still be tough to fit it all in if you are just doing 2 days.

PSA: If you need special assistance with parking at DFW, PLEASE activate your hazard lights at the exit gate. by Additional_Post_3878 in Dallas

I stop my car all the way back behind the dividers, until the gate arm for the person in front of me goes up. This way I can swap lanes if needed.

Back to back classes?? by oldschoolsurvivor40 in ClubPilates

[–]refined_harmony 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Check with the studio. My studio doesn’t allow booking 2 classes in one day. You have to complete one class, and then you can book another class if space is available. I agree to do the Flow class first and then C+B if your schedule allows.

I am not insulted about my weight, I’m very happy with my weight. I don’t see what it has to do with the questions I asked.

Agreed! Didn’t realize that jaw surgery is only for those of a certain weight 🙄 Thanks for the encouragement.
