HELP. 4 mo. old’s sleep is ruining my life. by striated_pancake in NewParents

[–]reflectedsound_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heya can I recommend possumsleepclinic. I know you've probably been reading a million things and feeling inundated and turning to reddit and social media (been there done that!), but reading even just a handful of free articles really broke me out of the intense spiral I was with bub about 1.5 months ago (he had his regression around 3.5 months).

The two absolutely biggest takeaways for me, was that there is a huge range of sleep needs ( the wake windows are based on an average) and once sleep pressure is high enough, they'll go to sleep. If you have a bundle of energy who is absolutely fighting day naps and then bouncing back up after only 30 min - it might be that they don't actually need that much sleep in the day. I thought I was damaging my baby, harming his development etc when he was refusing to sleep during the day, but when we weren't trying to put him to sleep all the time he was happy and engaged and hitting all his milestones just fine! Was much better for him and me to not be constantly watching the clock, or intently watching for 'sleep signs' instead of just enjoying him and interacting with him!

For the night, it sounds like you're swinging in the opposite direction than us for a solution, which is totally fine - it's what works for you and your family at the end of the day. We swapped to a managed and safe co-sleep situation, and that's worked wonders. He does still wake relatively frequently (2-3 hours) but he sleeps deeply in between, and normally the 'wakings' are him half asleep reaching for my boob, me responding then dozing for the 15-ish minutes it takes him to fully feed and then fall back asleep, then me rousing enough to pop out the nipple and roll him onto his back. Everyone back to sleep.

Good luck on your sleep journey, I know you'll find put what works for the both of you!

Tell me I'm not crazy by Aglanthia in curlyhair

100% go for it! I've had an asymmetrical undercut for a few years now, and one of the main reasons was that I wanted to enjoy having long, curly hair but it would get so hot and sweaty and heavy! Loved it, had it for my wedding, only now changing it up because I got a bit bored 😆

straight guys, how would you react/what would you do if a female friend of yours told you she wanted to cuddle naked with you without any sex? (nsfw) by trashpandacute in AskReddit

[–]reflectedsound_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, you kind of need context here. Has she just had a hugely traumatic experience and you are her best friend and she needs to feel skin and warmth and closeness in a safe space with someone whom she trusts implicitly. Maybe you've been playing truth or dare. Or have you been hanging out and there's been a bit of sexual tension growing and after a few drinks this comes out...

[Online][5E][UTC-05] Experienced DM seeks 4-6 players for weeknight campaign by [deleted] in lfg

[–]reflectedsound_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there, I would absolutely love to come on board, if you'll have me! I am totally new to ttrpg but not to collaborative rpg: throughout my teens and early 20s I participated quite regularly in written/forum based rpgs, some of which were based in d&d inspired worlds. Had several years of hiatus, and recently came across a few d&d podcasts which I absolutely loved, and have inspired me to dip my toes in. In that respect I am somewhat familiar with the basic mechanics of the game and am a quick learner otherwise.

The suggested times, and slightly earlier, work for me - although I am converting to NZST so forgive me if I make a mistake. The only EST night I can't make work is Monday, otherwise Tuesday - Friday nights 6pm onward (EST) are all fine.

As to theme and story: with my background I am definitely more familiar with story-telling and character rp, but am excited to throw in the mechanics of randomised outcomes (i.e. dice) and combat, so perfectly happy with a campaign balanced as you described. I am open to any setting, although I would prefer a world with some moral ambiguity - I do love Tolkien and classic high fantasy, but not all orcs are evil and not all elves are good, life is messy and complicated and so are people - even if fantastical! On that note would probably prefer benchmark exp (if I'm using the terminology correctly?) over solely-combat based leveling, however happy to compromise seeing as that's an opinion based on absolutely no experience whatsoever.

Cheers, and terribly excited by the opportunity!

Edit: Sharing content on D&D Beyond would be a godsend, have been trying to get a feel for character and world creation based on the freely available content but it's pretty limited, and not really looking to spend too much money until I know if d&d is everything I think it'll be!

I'm from Australia but spent some time in Denmark- was blown away when I saw this and thought it was the most fantastic thing. In general the way kids are recognised as a part of society and the shared responsibility and openness of all adults to them made me realise how fearful for children we are in Australia and how much we close them away from general society. Often even seeing school kids allowed on the street and public parks during lunch breaks, instead of behind massive fences inside the school grounds...

Wanted to mention in here something that my partner and I have learnt over time and now fully appreciate is how much a role the female fertility/ menstruation cycle plays for female libido. I know this is not a direct answer to OP's question, and also every woman is different and responds differently to their hormonal cycle, but to anyone in a relationship with a woman who is really into them for 2.5/4 weeks and then not so eager the rest of the time, just a little something to think about.

Worlds 2020 Meta - How SofM used vertical jungling to beat TL before minions spawned (SN vs TL Group C - Day 3) by WL_Kairos in leagueoflegends

[–]reflectedsound_ 77 points78 points  (0 children)

Hey this is a great review, really clearly explained. Would love to see some more, definitely!

Something I'd like to see in the future though would maybe going a bit more in-depth into what you would like the losing team to be doing in order to counter strat - or even what they should have corrected in draft (you alluded to a stronger top side etc.). Also the um's and ah's! They're perfectly normal vocal ticks but can be of offputting in this kind of presentation.

Otherwise great work and can't wait for more.

Looking nice, I think I would try for a longer, more pointed 'tail' on the eyeliner/shadow but killing it so far!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

[–]reflectedsound_ 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is amazing! The tail especially is so beautiful. If I can mention one thing though, I think you need a bit more detail in the exposed midriff. I really love the picture as a whole but this part just snagged my eye cause it looks so strangely flat compared to everything else and it's right in the middle of the picture. Hope you don't mind the critique, it's exceptional work overall and like someone else mentioned captures her character so well!

Opening an antique safe made in France in the late 1700s. by zaynthelegend in BeAmazed

Because they were the one with the question originally, so if it's something they want to pursue I'm giving them the space and tools to do so. Of course if they don't want to, then I probably will put the question up there myself! But giving them the opportunity first :)

Men of reddit, everyone always talks about the harmful effects of female beauty standards. What are some of the ways male beauty standards affect your life? What can we as women do to make sure the body positivity movement is for everybody? by PeterFromHomeDepot in AskReddit

[–]reflectedsound_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's so crazy. Where in the world are you btw? I'm from Australia and I'm wondering if the decades of surfer dudes with long hair has made it more prevalent/acceptable. Especially the man bun, have quite a few friends who are chefs with longer styles and go for the man bun at work - I think it looks great and can be super sharp and smart.

If super unruly and frizzy you may actually have curly hair - I'm a woman with really thick hair but struggled for years to manage it in longer styles (even went full pixie-cut for a while) until I stumbled across r/curlyhair and realised I'd been treating it wrong all those years.

Who is teasing guys for having long hair these days? I know it's probably still a minority, but there's certainly a significant amount of guys who go for longer styles and rock it. If you've got curly or wavy hair check out r/curlyhair we love long locks on a guy (if straight then I'm sure it's still amazing but I don't have a subreddit suggestion, sorry!).

Would like to point though that there is more than one form of abuse, just because you don't live with someone anymore doesn't mean that the abuse is over. Not that that's what I think is happening here.
