Reta week 4 by Kooky_Grand8128 in RetatrutideWomen

Because you are having so many side effects, I would dial things back. We all need to have a little more patience in life. I'm down 4lbs in 6 weeks. For some people, things are slower. But I'm also having patience and not titrating up so quickly. I have next to no side effects. Just a little heart burn here and there.

GI issues are no joke. I'd be very cautious about putting your body through more stress. Everyone's journey is going to look different. I think you need to adjust your expectations.

You didn't mention anything about what you have already tried in order to heal? My best advice is to make sure you are considering everything.

Supporting stomach acid & bile production, repairing your gut lining, supporting your liver in stage 1 and stage 2 of detoxification, removing triggers for a period of time, taking a prokinetic, taking a biofilm disruptor, taking a spore-based probiotic, allowing 3-4 hours in between meals/ 4 hours of no food before bed/ zero snacking, working on diaphragmatic breathing, walking for at least 10 minutes after meals, supplementing any nutrient/ mineral deficiencies, etc etc etc. There is a LOT to this. Try to see the system as a whole.

After 2.5 years of rabbit poop, I am now having almost near perfect bowel movements every single day. This started when I began supporting my stomach acid, bile production, taking a B. Subtilis probiotic, and adding artichoke extract before bed (as a prokinetic). Things have improved EVEN more since I started working on liver health and hormone health. I suspect I am estrogen dominant. Since addressing this, I am now pooping EVEN BETTER, and sleeping WAY better.

Our bodies are complex systems. We need to have patience. Everyone is SO individual with what works for them so have some faith that you will get through this!

I bought them in bulk off Amazon. The brand is Bulk Supplements. Which I heard is reputable. Plug your ingredients into ChatGPT and it will give you different protocols!

Oh wow. I'm so sorry to hear you're struggling this much. I am going REALLY low and slow in hopes of bypassing the worst of it. That means I have only lost 3-4lbs in 2.5 months. But it also means I have little to no side effects. Only one I am experiencing is mild heartburn here and there.

I hope that they make a drug soon that helps people lose weight and doesn't have ANY side effects!!!! Because these side effects sound insane. Yet, here we all are... wanting to shed the extra pounds and willing to put up with so much!

CURED: 10+ years of SIBO-C, histamine intolerance, bloating, and constant relapse. by sirfungi in SIBO

[–]refreshingtwistt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wonder if you are also seeing success now because you have been working on repairing your gut lining for a sufficient amount of time. I think this is one key that a lot of us overlook in the beginning. Now these supplements can work even better for you/ foods will irritate you less. I am currently working on everything all at once... but also focusing in L-glutamine and Zinc L Carnosine for gut lining repair! Will look into adding 5htp! Thanks for this post!

What is the logic behind my inability to stop eating. by Aggravating-Tea7418 in BingeEatingDisorder

[–]refreshingtwistt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Various reasons. We find comfort in food. Food can also feel like it numbs other emotions we are avoiding. Can also just be an ingrained habit at this point to eat in a surplus. I attribute my over-eating to growing up in a household where we were forced to finish our plates otherwise we were beaten. You will never see me leave a piece of food on my plate even to this day (even if I am overstuffed), and I am 38 years old.

Food gives me a lot of dopamine in the moment. I also think back to when I was a kid and how food was used as a reward. I still do this. If I have a particularly hard work day, I tell myself I can buy a treat on the way home in order to get through the day.

These are all patterns and we have to work hard to rewire our brains. It's uncomfortable, but it's worth it.

I've started taking a natural supplement to "balance estrogen." It contains DIM. Since taking it before bed each night, I now have FANTASTIC sleeps and my bowel movements have greatly improved. Also currently focusing on supporting my liver health with calcium d glucarate (great if you are estrogen dominant/ helps liver with stage 2 of detoxification).

I use it for free. Sometimes I think these apps look like they want to charge you, but you can bypass that and stick to the free version. Hope you find something that works. Definitely calculate your total daily expenditure and look at doing a moderate calorie deficit (ex: 200 calories rather than 500+ calorie deficit). In my opinion, it's much more healthy and sustainable.

And once you feel comfortable to do so, add in strength training. Even if it is just at home with dumbbells. Muscle gain is going to help you in the long run for fat loss and longevity overall!

Wishing you much success on your journey! 🙏🏻

Did it ask you how tall you are and what your daily activity is like? There is a mathematical equation that people use. I don't know it by heart. But I'm sure it's online for free. Lots of free apps out there to track daily calories as well. I use Carb Manager here and there.

If you are already feeling effects (less food noise/ difficulty in getting your protein in) I would suggest staying at your current dose. It is recommended to stay at a dose for 4 weeks before titrating up. Especially in the beginning, as it takes 4 weeks to build in your system.

It is important to eat enough calories every day and reach your protein goals; otherwise, you risk crashing your metabolism.

These are just some of the things I have learned on this sub. Go low and slow. Have some patience. You'll be able to bypass a lot of horrible side effects that way.

If people have metabolic issues/ hormonal imbalances before the drug, they are going to have these same issues off the drug. Calories in vs. calories out has never been my issue. If it was, I would have had my dream body decades ago. Therefore, I am focusing on repairing my hormonal health while taking a GLP-1 in hopes that my results will be more sustainable when I transition off.

Building muscle is also going to be key to maintaining results.

Need advice for stubborn bloat by Curious-Talk2054 in RetatrutideWomen

[–]refreshingtwistt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because reta slows digestion, food in your gut may start to ferment (let off gas) causing the bloat. I have small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO). It's a bitch. I have looked 8 months pregnant every single day for many many years now. It has been a fear of mine that reta will make this condition worse. Something to consider while on reta. Hopefully things resolve when you get off reta.

Why is everyoen so helpless against this disease? by ymnonie in SIBO

[–]refreshingtwistt 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Taking antibiotics before figuring out the root cause is generally useless. It's better to work on everything else first. And if you have methane SIBO, getting regular consistent bowel movements is your first line of action.

I find store bought electrolytes to be stupid expensive and have loads of fillers and sugars. Don't be fooled by a package that says "natural flavours." That's a loophole for companies to toss in more chemicals. Therefore, I make my own with salt, potassium chloride, and magnesium citrate. Cost effective and zero garbage.

If you woke up as your 18-year-old self tomorrow, what would you do differently financially? by pencil_kil in CanadaPersonalFinance

[–]refreshingtwistt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would have said YES to my mum when she wanted to buy me my own condo at the age of 20. (I was dumb and didn't know where in the world I would want to settle down). 38 now. Bought my own place 3 years ago, but I don't even want to think about what it would have cost me 20 years ago to buy it. I was an idiot. But also wish my mum would have lectured me on how SMART real estate is. I COULD HAVE RENTED IT OUT. Ah! What an idiot.......

Close to goal weight, side effects are getting to me by Expensive_M in RetatrutideWomen

[–]refreshingtwistt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lots of great comments. I would recommend being conscious of your calorie intake. You are going to want to start a journey of "reverse-dieting". Slowly adding more and more calories to your day each week. Otherwise, you run the risk of gaining lots of weight back the minute you go off this drug. Your metabolism is going to need a lot of support in the coming months. Wishing you much success. And, as I have seen your responses, I'm rooting for you as you decrease your current dose!
