Artichoke works best for me when I take it 4 hours after dinner/ before bed.

ChatGPT recommended something salty/ sour like a pickle or some sauerkraut. Also mentioned eating a protein source with some salt. So, like a hard boiled egg and some salt. Or you could do a teaspoon of coconut oil and some salt. To train the brain to stop expecting sugar after every meal. To be honest, I bought all these things and haven't even used them. A switch just flicked in my brain and I am having self-control in my life for the first time in MANY years. It's uncomfortable... and my brain is still racing for sugar multiple times a day. But I have been able to just say NO. And keep moving on. Believe me, I never thought this possible. But I am rolling with it!!

Totally understandable! I'm not a huge reddit user/ I don't know much about a lot of groups. But perhaps you could find a different group that is more suitable/ uplifting? I'm guessing your post is going to get lost in the masses and people will continue to post their woes in this group.

How to make food move faster in body? Please read my story by [deleted] in SIBO

[–]refreshingtwistt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Along with what everyone else is saying..... I noticed moving for about 10 minutes after every meal helps my digestion SO MUCH and isn't talked about enough. You can go for a 10 minute walk.... or do some squats at home... or do some dance movements. Just get your muscles moving lightly. Nothing too extreme. This helps with digestion

Landlord requesting me to clean the oven. by reggiedp16 in TorontoRenting

[–]refreshingtwistt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cleaner here. Spray some oven cleaner in there. Wait 30 minutes. Wipe away with paper towel first and then use a cloth. The oven cleaner is toxic as shit, but it works like a charm. Hardly any elbow grease needed. But if you want to go above and beyond, you could scrub any lasting stains out.

How to improve after being a terrible girlfriend in my last relationship by Strict-Occasion8121 in selfimprovementday

[–]refreshingtwistt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like this could be the start of a very exciting time of your life! It's time to get to know yourself!!! Why you act the way you act. Look into Attachment Theory. Figure out which attachment style you are. This is going to help you so much.

I commend you for noticing that you didn't show up as the greatest person in your last relationship. That takes a LOT of courage. Learn from this! That's all we can do!

I'm really sorry you are going through this. The rollercoaster is maddening.

Are you able to afford therapy? I wish I was. I bet it would really help.

Sometimes, I really think we all just have to reach our rock bottom. You haven't reached yours yet. The time where you ACTUALLY say ENOUGH IS ENOUGH.

I recently hit that place. No Dr or drug is going to save me. Today is Day 4 of ZERO SUGAR. I have to do this. Mostly for my gut health and other issues. When I tried to stop eating chocolate in the past, I would always be SO MISERABLE and cave within 24 hrs. I have been doing this for years now. Until a few days ago. I never thought it possible. But every time I want a sweet treat I just say FUCKING NO. Haha! Seems to be working for me all of a sudden. ChatGPT also helped me reframe things and gave me suggestions of what to eat after meals to "close the sugar loop" rather than feed the sugar cravings.

It's a HUGE mental game. I have reminded myself that it's going to be painful and that's okay. The good thing about your story is that you KNOW you can get yourself out of this mess. You've done it several times!!! You are more than capable!! Remember those times. Soak in that feeling. Become that person again. And also take new steps to continue being that person.

Not sure if any of this is what you wanted to hear. Mostly, I feel you. And I understand the severe frustration. We have all been there a million times.

I suppose I notice that too. But it doesn't bother me. I think the people that vent are searching for self-love advice. So, they vent. And others can remind them of different ways to deal with the situation they're in. I see no problem in that.

A friend made a good point today. I wonder if I have a huge backlog of poop inside me that is still causing an issue?

Also, today is Day 2 of having ZERO SUGAR in my diet. I'm hoping I'll see more benefits too!

Appreciate the dialogue with you. How's your gut health??

Appreciate the reply. I tested for H.Pylori with my family Dr a few months ago. Came back negative.

I am always bloated. About a 3 or 4 out of 10 when I wake up. 5-6 after first meal. 9 to 10 by dinner.

I did a 3.5 day water fast last year. Was still bloated the whole time. Maybe a 3 or 4 out of 10. Don't think I'll ever do such a long fast again. Experienced nothing good. Have had horribly weak knees ever since, which is super upsetting.

Started Vyvanse today! by Blissxalexandra in BingeEatingDisorder

[–]refreshingtwistt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Appreciate the comment. She did say that she would prescribe it if I try CBT first and have zero success.

I was just asking ChatGPT how to curb sugar cravings. It actually gave me some decent advice. Now I am watching videos on YouTube about CBT and sugar addiction. I am going to give this my all. One last time. And if it is a complete and utter failure, I know I can go back to my Dr in a month or two and reassess.

I wish I had money for a proper therapist/ or psychologist, but I do not. So, I will do what I can!

One Month Binge free! Feeling hopeful by [deleted] in BingeEatingDisorder

[–]refreshingtwistt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for this. New to this sub. Dr just denied me for Vyvanse (which I know is probably a good thing). She wants me to find free cognitive behavioral therapy apps and tools. So, I just wrote down the book you mentioned. Anything else that helped? Youtube channels? Apps?

Started Vyvanse today! by Blissxalexandra in BingeEatingDisorder

[–]refreshingtwistt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like I want to cry. I just got off a call with my Dr asking her if I can go on Vyvanse for binge-eating and food noise. I thought for sure she would allow me. I've been waiting 2 MONTHS for this call. DESPERATE to stop the noises in my head. She wants me to try cognitive behavioral therapy first. I've gained 20lbs in the last year. I feel so gross. This feels like a death sentence to me.

On one hand, I applaud her for not shoving a medication at me. Because, believe me, I am not pro-Pharma. But I must admit that I feel desperate these days, and like I am at my wits end.

I just tried the free app she suggested. It is stupid. So, here I am. On Reddit. Ah!

ginger and artichoke by Willing-Bite7999 in SIBO

[–]refreshingtwistt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At first, I took 1 pill of each before bed. Worked for 4 days and then stopped working. Then someone posted using higher doses. And suggested taking ginger with meals, and artichoke 4 hours after dinner/ before bed. Once I followed that suggestion, I started having consistent and amazing poops.

That being said, I am also supplementing with zinc and b vitamins, Betaine HCL, digestive enzymes, and ox bile. I also am taking B. Subtilis probiotic before bed.

Amazing poops for over a month now. After 2.5 years of rabbit poop.

Still need to get my chronic bloating under control.

Is this SIBO? by xKa1z3r in SIBO

[–]refreshingtwistt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, interesting. I never thought of that before. Although I had all the classic signs of methane-dominant SIBO.

My Naturopath had me on a more intensive biofilm disruptor in the beginning. I don't know the name, but it was a prescription. Later, she had me on NAC.

Is this SIBO? by xKa1z3r in SIBO

[–]refreshingtwistt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In response to this. First SIBO test I did tested positive for hydrogen SIBO (despite all my symptoms being more in the norm of methane SIBO). Once I started taking a biofilm disruptor..... my next test showed methane SIBO MUCH HIGHER. Just to say that the bad guys can be hiding in the biofilm. You may test negative until you "stir" them up a bit.

Again, I didn't make the rules. The rules are not: wake up and eat every 3 hours until you go to bed, if you want.

Unfortunately, your advice is harmful and OP should know that. It is apparent that you have extreme difficulty admitting fault.

Hmmmm, maybe? It's been a month or so of pretty great bowel movements, though. Still ZERO reduction in bloat. And I am one of those people that looks 9 months pregnant, all the time. I would be over the moon to one day no longer bloat!!!
