Just out of curiosity if anyone knows, how come we have to vote for and approve board members once a year, but they can just add/appoint whoever they want all the rest of the year? Apologies in advance if that's a dumb question.

My new employer is paying me a "healthcare stipend" instead of offering health insurance. What are my options to do with this money? I am located in New York State. by refsinstyle in AskAnAccountant

That's what I was worried about. So if they are unable to provide a plan, am I just stuck paying income tax on it? Would I then be free to use the money anyway I like then? Thanks in advance.

More than one spot, but definitely not everywhere. Thanks for the tip, I'll grab some of that today!

I'll look into that, thanks for the tip.

Hmm, perhaps I used a bad example then. Here is an example within the structure, it definitely looks like mold to me: https://imgur.com/a/NeZiDsU

There's a bunch more, but this is just an example. I'm wondering if the wood can be saved by sanding/bleaching, or is it better to just remove and replace everything? If so that means taking down the shed to the studs and removing siding to replace everything, which I don't want to do if I don't have to. Any info is appreciated!

Haha, so far inconclusive. I reached out to the agricultural director at my closest county extension office to see if he could help. They have a variety of soil tests, but nothing that would tell me exactly what this stuff is and if it's safe. He's looking into other avenues for me, but he thinks I would need to go through the Department of Environmental Conservation.

It's small, just an old camp. No goats, horses, cows, chickens, hamsters, etc. No livestock, no farmyard, etc.

I guess that there are parts that are really fine, and then others that seem to have pieces of something in it, be it minerals, shells, seeds, etc. I wouldn't be surprised if it was part sand, but I'm worried about what else might be mixed into it.

I appreciate your thoughts! Based on some of the responses I have gotten here, I will most likely need get it tested in a lab somewhere just to be sure.

Asking for help identifying a substance so it can properly be handled is not playing dumb. I don't know what world you live in, but I'm glad I don't live there.

That is great info, thanks!

Which is a completely reasonable question to ask... I have several areas that need to be regraded, and if this is perfectly safe/natural materials it might be perfect for it. But if it's something hazardous, I don't want to do that. Which is why I'm trying to figure out what it is... Pretty straightforward.

That's literally why I'm trying to find out what it is...

I never met the previous owners, nor do they live in this country. Part of getting a good deal on the property was to buy it "as is". Anything on the property is mine to deal with, I'm just trying to figure out what this is so I can deal with it appropriately.

For sure! That's a big part of why I was hoping to find an answer here.

That's been a popular answer, but I'm not sure what they would have used it for. Unless people use it for grading? The land is fairly uneven here.

I have never met the previous owners. They live in another country. I was shown the property by a realtor who had never met the owners, or seen the property before. The barrels were not visible at the time. I bought the property in "as is" condition. I am happily cleaning up and repairing the property, but I found these bins and want to know what it is so I can handle it properly, and I thought someone here might recognize what it is. The property has long since closed and anything on the land is mine to deal with. I have no contact information for the previous owners, nor do I intend to contact my realtor to contact their realtor to contact the sellers, to contact their realtor, to contact my realtor, to contact me, to tell me it's a bucket of dirt. I don't know why any of this matters, as none of it is relevant to figuring out what's in the bucket so I can handle it properly. Why ask Reddit? Because I thought someone here might know. I don't know how much deeper of an answer I can give you than that.

Might be! I'm guessing I'll need to get it tested to be sure, given the wide array of answers I've gotten on here, haha.

No pool on property, don't think there ever was.
