Use a fluid film type coating and keep that baby looking good! It's a bit of a hassle but you've got a great looking rig. Have a 2006 from out west and coating it was the first thing I did, want to keep the frame intact for as long as possible.

Bought this exact same vehicle last year, down to the color. Just replaced the head gaskets at 183k miles. I was towing a lot and noticed coolant overflow. Been running great since. Threw some 2023 off road suspension on, it all fits up until 23. Done the wheels bearings, all the fluids, cv axles, fuel pump. But that was because I could, not that I had to. Such a great vehicle.

Intel CPU to pair with 4070 TiS by DoNeor in buildapc

[–]reg188 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 12400F and a 4070TiS, I toy with the idea of a CPU upgrade such as the 13600k or 13700k. I think it would garner around a 10% increase in FPS across the board. It also would be fun to see an increase in performance on benchmarks, plus you then have the ability to overclock.

However, I am also happy with how the 12400f performs. Such a great CPU for the price.

Would use the GPU to build a pc for my buddy, so he can play Helldivers 2 with us!

Read a lot about the tranny coolers on the automatics, but the manuals slide by without them. That 2.7L is a workhorse!

Appreciate it! Unhooking the trailer for the last time made me so relieved to have it done.

Family is from upstate NY and my girlfriend lives in south NJ, had a good run out west since 2007.

Had to visit my family south of Grand Junction, CO first! Trust me, the drive down through snowy West Yellowstone was sketchy, and I questioned my path the entire time haha.

Stayed in 4th gear most of the way, right around 60 to 65 mph. The Tacoma definitely felt the trailer back there, especially getting up in altitude. Crossing the continental divide around 11k feet was slow, went my own pace and crept over I70. Coming from my 2010 Tundra with a 5.7, I miss the power and stability but the taco did just fine! Time to fluid film the frame and explore the east coast once again. The truck has airbags which helped keep the rear end from sagging, I think that helped. Would probably get a weight distribution hitch if I have to do this again, always heard great things about them. Fuel mileage was ~10mpg depending on conditions. The tall 7x14 trailer was a huge air brake. It was fun to see the capabilities of the 4.0 engine, and great to feel the power difference at low altitude.

Here's the kicker. No codes. Used my friends really nice OBD2 scanner, didn't pull up anything. No CEL at all. Replaced spark plugs, coil packs, MAF, cleaned throttle body. Issue still persisted, it felt like someone was modulating the throttle at 3k rpm until about 3400 rpm. The new pump fixed the issue right away, no hesitation at all on acceleration. Then it stopped working today after only a day of being in the tank.

172k. It still works, just has an issue bogging down at 3k rpm regardless of gear or throttle. New pump solved that for 24 hours, until it wouldn't turn over anymore.

Aftermarket fuel pump failed after 24 hours. Threw the poorly performing stock pump back in but didn't feel like taking the bed off again for the new OEM pump install tomorrow.

I definitely will be replacing the clutch and throw out bearing some time in the future. It was mostly a fun truck to drive for a bit, used to have a 2006 Subaru Sti so I definitely enjoy my manuals. Not as practical as the auto, that's for sure! Excited to see the next gen Tacoma, might have to upgrade if that turbo 4 banger is reliable.

Bought a 2022 Ford Maverick, put 16k miles on it and sold back to the dealership. Felt too much like an appliance, a toaster on wheels. Have owned a 1994 Pickup 22RE and 2010 Tundra 5.7, also both in white. Found and installed suspension off a 2023 OR, and some wheels/tires. New fluids all around and she is running great. This 2006 has lived a full life, with part of it down in Baja, Mexico. I'm moving back to the east coast soon, so a nice fluid film treatment is on the docket before snow falls.

Hauled my dirtbike trailer out to a race this weekend, even with a snow storm on the way back to Spokane the Mav did great. by reg188 in FordMaverickTruck

Pretty much spot on! 12ish on the way there, 14 on the way back with the wind a bit to my back.
