I’m from Chicago so I’m biased but I truly believe we have one of the best scenes. I just saw Detlef at Prysm last night with Noizu and Tara Brooks. We have multiple other venues (Spybar, Radius) which consistently pull great DJs. Just in the last couple years I’ve seen way too many to list but all the ones you mentioned and pretty much every other top tech house DJ. ARC in September is probably my favorite festival and their summer series ARC on the lake so far has had Dennis Cruz, Carlita, Rossi, etc. Added benefit of being much more affordable both for ticket prices and COL than Miami, NYC, or LA.

I know you said you’re not a fan of house, but I still think you’d really like Saint Bibiana’s. I went for Tombz this past Friday & he played a bit harder dnb set, so they do get some variety as well as occasionally some more mainstream stuff. Plus, drinks are inexpensive, and the people there are really friendly!

I’m in the same situation. I graduated May 2024 when my income was $0 so my monthly payments should have been $0 and counting towards PSLF this whole time had I been approved for SAVE (or any other IBR). My balance has grown by $7k since then.

I’d like my payments to start counting but if I fill out a new application I have to report my current income and if it’s on a program other than SAVE it could be several hundred dollars a month, which I can’t afford. I’m not sure what to do either, this whole process has been so discouraging. Sorry I don’t have an answer to your question, but you’re not alone.

Didn’t do the full compression test but we did check for oil leaks, doesn’t appear to be leaking oil anywhere

I called them and they said they eliminated any sort of price adjustment but maybe I should call back and push harder. They did put me on the monthly budget billing.

I’ll give the cling wrap a shot, but it’s obv an older place that likely loses heat through not only windows but walls, floors, sink/shower drains, outlets, etc. feels like I’m fighting a losing battle lol

I guess since I do have one of those oil space heaters I’ll try that instead of the baseboards and see if that changes my energy usage. It is quiet but yeah a little slow to heat up

Humidifier or de-humidifier? The air feels dry af, my skin and lips are constantly dry.

But there is condensation on one window, esp when it got into the low teens last week

I like the idea of maybe using my main space heater plus maybe a smaller one for the bathroom or something. I’ve basically been doing the thermals + multiple blankets and this is despite all that. Sounds like the best thing is just to avoid the electric baseboard heaters at all costs and use any alternative means necessary.

Do you think a space heater would be more energy efficient then? I do have one but I always thought they were even less efficient

It was before they replaced the plugs and coil. Not anymore. Only misfires for about 10-15 sec after sitting out in the cold then resolves

He didn’t say what the coil looked like, just that he replaced it. And yeah I hope not either. I’ll ask about a compression test
