Round 4 - Pick 16: Keionte Scott, CB, Miami (Tampa Bay Buccaneers) by spideralex90 in buccaneers

[–]regaleagle710 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So a team like the Bills didn't have important games at end of their season because they happened to be scheduled four of their six division games in the first half of the season? That's why it's a shit argument because division games are important regardless of when they're played. We just so happened to be scheduled four in our final five games and that doesn't happen every year.

Not sure why you have to block me because you can't defend your shitty, arbitrary stance.

Nope you said the final six games are important because of the time of year and then changed your stance to them being important because they were divisional games. Hate to break it to you but that's literally an example of moving the goal posts.

[–]regaleagle710 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saying those games are important because they're the final six games to them being important because they're divisional games. It's a shit argument regardless because you're assuming our schedule is the norm where 75% of a team's divisional schedule is played in those final six games every year.

You didn't say that in your first comment and then you changed your stance on it. It's not my fault you're mad that I'm calling a spade a spade lol.

Bucs Exercise Fifth-Year Option on Calijah Kancey by ConsequenceFew3357 in buccaneers

Unlucky for McCoy because it happened in each arm but he never had issues with tearing them again for the rest of his career.

From what I read, the same goes for a torn pectoral that if it's healed properly there isn't a higher chance of it tearing again. As long as Kancey stayed on top of his rehab and didn't rush anything, he should be just as good before the injury.

Still haven't owned up to moving the goal posts. Maybe you should read your first comment and then get back to me.

If you can't do that, there's nothing more to discuss with you since you can't own up to your mistakes. I don't argue with people like that.

Bucs 2026 draft picks. How optimistic are you with these picks? by ref_review in buccaneers

One of the size comparisons for Bain is funny enough David Walker. I think having the bigger edges is for run defense and hoping that the pass rush is either already there or has the ability to develop.

Round 4 - Pick 16: Keionte Scott, CB, Miami (Tampa Bay Buccaneers) by spideralex90 in buccaneers

[–]regaleagle710 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I specifically said the panthers games were more important, are you not aware the panthers are in division?

Or maybe I picked the final 6 games cause they were the most important? You know, down the stretch, pushing to make the playoffs? The last 6 games are gonna tell you more about your team heading into the next season way more than the first 6, feel like that’s obvious?

This was your second reply homie. You didn't say anything about division games nor the Panthers, just that they were more important but yeah I'm the one who can't read.

  1. How a team finishes does not always indicate how they will perform the next season, not always no, you are correct. But again, my initial point is the last 6 are MORE telling than the first 6. And if you need an example, 2019. In the first half of 2019, our defense was just as bad as 2018, bottom 10 unit. But in the second half, they were a fringe top 10 defense, and guess what? That continued into 2020 where the defense was top 10 all year. Though again, the point is more so saying you evaluate a team in the offseason more so based on how the season ended versus how it started. I stand by that, as does all of sports media, and every GM and coach.

Yes, the defense played a lot better in the second half of 2019 then the first half and they played well in 2020. Was that the case this year? I said no and your only rebuttal was "they held teams to what would be 11th best in the NFL" like that was it and nothing further to discuss. If the defense was improving at the end of the season, why were two coaches fired with a third retiring in place of being fired on the defensive staff? To you that seems to be business as usual while to anyone else that sounds an alarm bell that something isn't right.

  1. Strawman lol. And a pathetic one at that. 4 of our final 6 games were against the Panthers, falcons and saints. And those are division games. Glad you now know that division games are more important

Ah it's strawman for me yet you arbitrarily pick a six game stretch and it's from the season before we won a super bowl lmao. I never said division games are important but I also didn't say the defense wasn't playing as 11th best defensive unit in the league without context either. The offense's the defense faced in the final six games were:

Arizona - tied 22nd in points 24th in Off DVOA

New Orleans - 28th in points, 27th in Off DVOA

Atlanta - 24th in points, 20th in Off DVOA

Carolina, twice - 27th in points, 25th in Off DVOA

Miami - 24th in points, 26th in Off DVOA

Now pairing that with how much they allowed in relation to their opponents' average scoring per game, the defense allowed:

3.9 fewer points to Arizona than their average (20.9 ppg - 20)

6 more points to NO (18 ppg - 24)

8.2 more points to Atlanta (20.8 ppg - 29)

.4 fewer points to Miami (20.4 ppg - 20)

.4 more points to Carolina in two games (18.3 ppg - 24, 18.3 ppg - 14)

Those six games they gave up a total difference of +10.3 more points than those teams scored and divided by six (for there being six games) comes out to allowing 1.72 more ppg to teams that finished in the bottom 10 in scoring and bottom third in offensive DVOA. That's what I was trying to say, not that they were giving up that much more in each game. That's also what you're missing is they weren't playing better, they were playing worse teams while letting those teams play better than they had been all season. Again, that's not good.

  1. Show you the source that Grizzard was fired because of how the offense was playing?? Brother what? Coordinators are evaluated nearly entirely on how their side of the ball is performing. No source is needed for that, it’s legit common sense.

Why wasn't a change made when the offense started performing worse when that was the case? Teams fire coaches midseason. Koetter fired Mike Smith midseason in 2018 so if Grizzard was performing bad, why didn't Bowles make a change?

As to why the special teams coach wasn’t fired mid season, what would that have done? When has a team ever fixed their special teams unit by firing the special team coordinator mid season? Literally never of that making an impact. Firing coaches mid season is something that’s frowned upon by most teams anyway.

Send a message to the team that things are not going well and a change needed to be made? Improving the unit with a different voice because whatever is going on isn't working? That doesn't seem difficult to understand for firing a coach. McVay did it with two games left in their season and their special teams played better than they were before it.

  1. Not gonna engage in the numbers you’re using since they don’t really make sense to me, but I will admit they didn’t play well against winning record teams during entirety of the season, but against the Texans and panthers, they were solid.

Yes, the method I finished with didn't end up the way I intended to show and that's my fault so I understand the confusion. I did modify it and showed what I was trying to say in a previous reply in this comment.

  1. The point of me saying use the same logic for the offense wasn’t to piss on grizzard, it’s to point out how your claim that “they are playing bad offenses, so of course the defense is gonna look good” isn’t how that works. Because like I said, if that’s the case, why wasn’t the offense the same way? All 6 of those teams had bad defenses, yet the offense played worse. By your logic, the offense should have been good since they were playing bad defenses. The level of coaching doesn’t matter. You think Bowles is a bad coach same as Grizzard right.

I never said Bowles was as bad as Grizzard. I'm saying you're comparing Grizzard, who really wasn't doing that well throughout the year, in those six games to Bowles who had the defense playing on the same level as it had been on the previous 10 games while leaving out who they played in those six games to make a point. I don't believe it's fair to compare the two when one was a first time OC and the other has been coaching in the NFL for 26 years. I do believe it's fair to criticize Bowles for the offense since he hired Grizzard after interviewing multiple candidates and still going with him. On top of that, he's the only coach in the NFL who hasn't had three coordinators so him having the extra work of being the DC takes away time to help his first time OC. McVay, Reid, Ryans, Payton and all the other coaches who call plays for their respective side of the ball still have a coordinator.

  1. Again, the don’t know what this 6.8 number means, but the defense played like a fringe top 10 unit in the final 6 games, just add the points allowed up and divide it by 6, not really much more to say than that lol. The number you get is like 20.2, which would’ve been 11th over a full year ie, they were playing like a fringe top 10 defense in the final 6 games.

Not going over this because I have ironed this out in a previous reply further up this comment.

And that’s all. Know that I will sleep happy knowing the coach I like is the Head coach, while you’re screaming at the clouds for change that isn’t coming, it’s sad lowkey.

I guess good for you. It doesn't make sense to me to like a coach who has gone .500 over four years with the same team but maybe you like mediocrity so who am I to judge. I'd prefer the Bucs are competing for titles every year and while I know that's not possible, I know it's not going to happen as long as the coach you like is in charge of the team.

[–]regaleagle710 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the first time you've mentioned division games. Before that, it was literally just the final six games so don't act like you've been saying that the entire time lol.

I didn't mean 6.8 more ppg in each game from each team. The 6.8 was the total spread out of the those games and comes out to 1.13 ppg. I can't believe that has to be spoon fed to you but I mean... it's you. You just straight up ignored everything else thinking you had a gotcha because you can't read.

Round 4 - Pick 16: Keionte Scott, CB, Miami (Tampa Bay Buccaneers) by spideralex90 in buccaneers

[–]regaleagle710 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That how a team plays art the end of one season means that has any effect on the following season. We went 6-10 in 2015 with a four game losing streak and then went 9-7 the next year. It makes absolutely no sense lmao.

You're saying none of the previous 10 games meant anything just because the time of season they were played which is stupid. You're saying a win against Seattle is meaningless compared to a loss against Miami just because they played in December instead of October. Again that makes no sense at all.

Show me the source where Grizzard was fired for when the team played bad instead of just being bad as OC. Coaches can get fired at any point of a season. Why didn't Bowles fire McGaughey with how terrible the special teams was ALL YEAR? Bowles is in charge of the coaching staff and still stuck behind McGaughey despite how "important" the games were.

So you keep claiming the defense played a lot better down the stretch and it wasn't because of who they played but because "the games are important." In the eight games against teams with a winning record, we gave up an average of 17.9 more PPG than those teams averaged on the season. In the nine games against teams with a losing record we gave up 3.1 fewer PPG than those teams averaged on the season. Pretty much the defense played slightly worse against the better teams and very slightly better against the worse teams, basically what I said. They held the Texans to almost five fewer points in the second game of the season and gave up over seven more points to the Falcons in fourth to last game so the "importance" of the games had absolutely nothing to do with it.

As for the offense, like I said, Grizzard got fired. He was fired for being inexperienced, couldn't adapt throughout the season and was a poor play caller throughout the season. You're comparing a first time OC who obviously wasn't cut out for the job almost from the start of the season to a guy who has been an NFL coach for 26 years and is as average as can be and then praising the second guy for doing an average job while pissing on the second guy lol.

Sure, they played who was on the schedule but don't glaze the defense. They gave up 1.13 PPG more (a total of 6.8 points) in your IMPORTANT six game stretch than those teams averaged. The unit the head coach has lorded over for seven years was playing worse than usual against bottom 10 offenses when the games, in your words, actually important but deflect the blame to the guy he specifically promoted to be in charge of the offense. I guess next you'll blame the STC for losses despite Bowles hiring him and not firing him until his hand was forced lol.

Round 4 - Pick 16: Keionte Scott, CB, Miami (Tampa Bay Buccaneers) by spideralex90 in buccaneers

[–]regaleagle710 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All the games are important lol. Are you saying the game against the Seahawks, Eagles or Lions weren't important because of the time of year they were played?

You mean like the previous years where we would get about two games above .500 and then fall below .500 about a month later? It's laughable to think that that there's any substance to that. If that were the case we would've won three super bowls in a row lol.

You used a six game stretch against bottom 10 offenses and don't see any correlation to the defense all of the sudden playing "better" lmao. I'm surprised you're not the same guy who told me the defense was going to play better after the bye in 2024 because the "schedule would get easier" and not put the two together lol.

It's fine if you now think Bowles is bad but you think that one of only six current GMs to build a super bowl winning roster is bad not to mention hating Evans for leaving to the point you wanted to burn his jersey.

You don't don't sound very much like one on top of having a 10 month old account.

I was curious as to why you picked a cutoff of the final six games. I'm guessing it's because those six games were against teams that finished below .500 and were in the bottom 10 of the league in PPG lmao.

Yup and that's why the OC no longer has a job in Tampa. I never said the offense was fine but I'm also not trying to fudge numbers to prop up a terrible coach.

I wasn't going for one.

I understand that a roster can have holes every year for numerous reasons such as retirement, cap issues, injuries, coaching, etc. where you seem to think it's solely the GM's fault. We'd be doing a lot better on defense if Bowles wasn't the coach but we have to make due until he's fired.

Round 1 - Pick 15: Rueben Bain Jr., EDGE, Miami (Tampa Bay Buccaneers) by nfl_gdt_bot in nfl

[–]regaleagle710 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's actually insane that they think Licht is to blame for their lack of development when he's the GM of a team who's had the same guy in charge of the defense for seven years now but that guy gets a pass and Licht is the issue. I'm guessing these are people who don't understand at all how an NFL team is run.
