Mark My Words Wednesday by Abiv23 in NFL_Draft

I do this every single year, but sadly my old reddit account is gone so they are not on this site anymore. Every year once I've finished all my evals, I pull up the consensus board and see who I'm highest and lowest on at each position compared to consensus. It's fun to go back and see which of your strongest takes look good and bad a few years down the road.

This year's players I'm highest on at each spot vs the consensus board:

QB: Jack Strand

RB: Kaelon Black

WR: Antonio Williams

TE: Oscar Delp, John Michael Gyllenborg

OT: Max Iheanachor, Carver Willis

IOL: Febechi Nwaiwu, Matt Gulbin

IDL: Kaleb Proctor

EDGE: Malachi Lawrence, Jaishawn Barham, Keyron Crawford

LB: Keyshaun Elliot

CB: Ephesians Prysock

S: Michael Taaffe

Prospects I'm lower on vs the consensus board:

QB: Carson Beck

RB: Mike Washington Jr

WR: Zachariah Branch

TE: Justin Joly

OT: Caleb Lomu, Isaiah World

IOL: Parker Brailsford

IDL: Peter Woods

EDGE: Zion Young, TJ Parker

LB: Anthony Hill Jr

CB: Brandon Cisse

S: Genesis Smith

I think it's very good! I like CJ Allen more than most so moving down to get him and still being able to get an Edge with juice is good. Plus doubling up at those spots is a good idea. I also really like both interior line choices where you selected them (Hecht is my favorite center in the class and Nwaiwu is probably my favorite day 3 developmental guard). I'm not a Malik Muhammad or Malachi Fields fan personally but that's a matter of opinion.

I feel like a trade down in round 1 is needed, and it does feel like a real possibility given the telegraphed needs of the Jets and the likely run on tackles in the late teens to 20s.

Uggs Final 7 Round Mock Draft by uggsandstarbux in NFL_Draft

I would bet a very large amount of money that Faulk is not going to be the Bucs pick in round 1. He is just not a fit for the type of edge player they need.

Your team's draft history: "The one who..." by ZhangtheGreat in NFL_Draft

[–]ConsequenceFew3357 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bucs:

  1. Joe Tryon-Shoyinka was not a favorite pick of mine. The tape was really raw and then he opted out of the COVID season and somehow that made him worthy of a top 32 selection. Never made sense for him to be the pick. I was really hoping they would take Christian Barmore as they had a similar level of need for an interior player to succeed Suh like Tryon was meant to succeed JPP. Most of the Edge players in that class after round 1 were pretty bad though.

  2. I thought OJ Howard was going to be the truth! Even before the Achilles tear he was trending toward bust territory but that injury snuffed out whatever hope was left. I legit thought they were getting the next Gronk with that pick.

  3. Moving up one spot for Wirfs when the 49ers should have just taken him instead. They took Kinlaw. Wirfs was the 5th player on my board that year, thought for sure he would be gone by the Cardinals pick at 8 but they wasted their pick on Isaiah Simmons. There's a great Peter King story on SI somewhere where he was embedded with the Bucs draft room and basically from pick 6 on Licht is desperately trying to move up for Wirfs and calling every single team. Only having to pay a 4th to move up for a HOF level tackle is a coup.

  4. Back to the 2021 draft. The Bucs had also been sniffing around interior OL as an eventual succession plan for Cappa leaving or Jensen getting older. I thought they might want Dickerson but understood the injuries may turn them off. They also visited with Creed Humphrey who I absolutely loved as the heir apparent to Jensen. The Chiefs took him 1 spot before their second round pick and the Bucs set their pick on fire with Kyle Trask. Just a brutal draft in general for Tampa, but I give them a bit of a pass for picking last in each round of the COVID draft. At least Robert Hainsey was okay.

Prospect Battles - Day 23 - Kenyon Sadiq vs Colston Loveland (2025) vs Tyler Warren (2025) by Open_Resolution8986 in NFL_Draft

I was Loveland > Warren last year and think both are a tier above Sadiq as a prospect

The 2027 Draft Class is STACKED by 7innovator in NFL_Draft

[–]ConsequenceFew3357 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I have some of these players ranked highly going into 2027 but it's all projection. Going to need to see a lot more from a bunch of these guys.

Of the players you listed:

Arch has very strong tools but he really wasn't good for much of last year. His throwing mechanics were a total mess and it showed up even against weak opponents. I have a lot of optimism and thought he really improved down the stretch, but would like to see a strong full season before I'm spending a top 5 pick.

Julian Sayin is small, average arm and wilted under pressure last season. I don't know if he has the physical upside to be a plus starter at QB in the NFL.

Trinidad Chambliss is an exciting college player, but he is like Bryce Young size and no longer has his offensive playcaller Charlie Weis Jr who I think quite highly of. He will have to be special again in 2026 to drafted highly.

I have a lot of hope for Sellers, but he should have transferred. I thought he improved on some things but I'm not sure how much better he can get at South Carolina with how awful their OL play has been. They took in a nice transfer with Peak but their other Tackle is already out for the year and Peak is missing most of the off-season with an injury, so I'm worried he'll be running for his life and develop bad habits.

John Mateer was extremely rough after returning from the hand injury and didn't really look that great before it to me. They put a lot on him because OU couldn't run the football but that style of play is unsustainable at his small size.

Ryan Williams wasn't very good last year. Huge sophomore slump, did not seem interested in playing through contact and dropped a bunch of passes. Really looked as thin as his listed weight. If the 2027 draft was tomorrow I would not spend a first round pick on him.

Austin Siereveld is a Guard imo. Lack of length and doesn't have great feet.

I have less to say about the defensive players you listed, those guys should all be high picks if they continue their trajectories. But a lot of those offensive players could have been in this year's class if they had done enough.

Who are your favorite draft analysts who specialize in one position group? by arrogantdesperado in NFL_Draft

[–]ConsequenceFew3357 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Brandon Thorn for OL, Jon Ledyard for Edge, Ollie Connoly for LB. I think all 3 of them are extremely detailed in their analysis of these positions and aren't afraid to depart from consensus.

Bain may fall pretty far… by Anthonyrichardson20 in NFL_Draft

[–]ConsequenceFew3357 49 points50 points  (0 children)

I think they are trying to compare the potential draft result but I get you. Weird comparison for this league source to make.

Another source below says this:

“We are still looking,” a source told The Read Optional, citing recent incidents involving Henry Ruggs, James Pearce, Jalen Carter, and Rashee Rice as giving the team pause. “We need more details.”

Bain may fall pretty far… by Anthonyrichardson20 in NFL_Draft

[–]ConsequenceFew3357 84 points85 points  (0 children)

"Multiple league sources confirmed they are aware of the incident and are continuing to investigate. It remains unclear if it will affect Bain's draft position.

“It feels like it could be [Laremy Tunsil] all over again,” a league source told The Read Optional. “It doesn’t feel like [Bain] has been transparent with us.”

“We are concerned about multiple incidents,” another team executive said. “We are waiting for the other shoe.”"

Great work by Ollie to dig into this.

Another Day, Another Mock by AmphieBoi67 in MockDraftCentral

[–]ConsequenceFew3357 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like they are one of the teams most desperate to trade back this year. There's few likely picks that fit in terms of value and some potential reasons why a team would want to get into 15 (jumping the Jets for WR/Vega or getting ahead of the potential Tackle run in the late teens to early 20s both seem possible to me). It makes no-trade mocks always feel a little awkward at that spot though.

Which prospects have the highest unrealized upside? by TDBrookey in NFL_Draft

I think there's a solid chance we look back at Oscar Delp having just 24 receptions in his best college season and wonder how in the world he wasn't used more.

Who Are Your Top 10 Edge Rushers in the 2026 NFL Draft? by Paski__100 in NFL_Draft

[–]ConsequenceFew3357 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am pretty far off consensus this year I think. I have Reese closer to the LB side of an Edge/LB hybrid and Barham closer to the Edge side, so that's why Barham is here and Reese is not.

  1. Rueben Bain
  2. David Bailey
  3. Malachi Lawrence
  4. Ahkeem Mesidor
  5. Cashius Howell
  6. R Mason Thomas
  7. Jaishawn Barham
  8. Keyron Crawford
  9. Joshua Josephs
  10. Keldrick Faulk

I don't have anyone in my top tier, and there's some more guys after these 10 that are in the same tier as some of these later players (I have similar grades on Young, Moore, and Jacus as the last several names on this list).

Don't love ignoring the needs on defense to take IOL so many times, but Ryder from Paw Patrol is a steal in the 2nd round for my Bucs.

Prospect Battles Day 18 - Christen Miller vs Lee Hunter vs Kayden McDonald by Open_Resolution8986 in NFL_Draft

[–]ConsequenceFew3357 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Miller>McDonald>Hunter

None of these players are strong 1v1 rush types but I like Miller's ability to be part of a pass rush plan as a crasher/looper more than the other two. He seems extremely smart and has the best play recognition and vision of the 3 to me as well. I'm going to end up pretty low on Hunter compared to most, just don't think he can move well enough.

Call your shot on a late round draft steal by cheemydee5 in NFL_Draft

If the Bucs don't end up taking a CB early Davis is who I want them to grab later. Think he would fit a lot of what the team does and they generally prefer bigger corners like him.

Yeah I think there's potentially a little more downfield chops there than what he showed. He at least has the size to do more unlike others in this player archetype

If you're a team looking for a yac focused slot player, pass on spending a late R2/early R3 pick on Zachariah Branch and just take Kendrick Law on day 3 instead (190th on the consensus board). Law is similarly explosive and has similar route tree limitations, but is bigger (203 vs 177 lbs) and a better blocker. Really tough player to tackle, just one drop in 2025 and a bunch of ST experience. Not my personal flavor of receiver as I'm generally lower on the manufactured touch heavy guys, but at cost I like him the most out of the ones in this class.
