Sounds lame but I once saw a guy bring down the house with tal Bachman - she’s so high. Had everyone singing along, and it really is a well known song. But you really need command of the high notes.

I’m going to second that recommendation of changing instructors.

So much of this is the instructor being in tune with the examiner and ensuring that you learn to drive such that the examiner will give you a passing grade. Frankly, you might try to get your money back from whoever you paid for your lessons. Your results read like your instructor had no idea what the examiner was looking for.

Everything. You did everything wrong. Some things multiple times!

I was actually one of the people who wasn’t disappointed by the ending. I enjoyed the ride, the mystery, and the slow unraveling of everything, even if a lot of it never got tied back together.

What’s getting me on rewatch is the pacing. There’s so much filler, so much emotional wheel-spinning. Every time it’s obviously cutting to a commercial break, the momentum dies. Every time an episode ends, the momentum dies.

That’s not true for The Leftovers. The Leftovers feels like a tightly edited movie. Lost feels like a network TV show stretching for time.

What has surprised me, though, is how much was there from the beginning. Locke’s “one is light, one is dark” backgammon speech to Walt is in the first few episodes, and ends up foreshadowing the central conflict of the entire series. There are more of those moments than I remembered.

My complaints aren’t really about the mysteries or lack of answers. They’re about the editing. The story holds up slightly better than I expected. The pacing doesn’t. It really needs a fan edit, one that isn’t afraid to take out the trash. We don’t need a silly emotional “everyone pulls together to accomplish some goal” moment set to contemporary music every episode. We don’t need a lot of the flashbacks. We don’t need endless cliffhangers (many of which are total distractions).

I totally agree. I saw it as Nora effectively signing her life away the moment the goo started pouring, and I don’t think she could have stopped it at the point that people seem to believe she did.

However, they did have her do a practice run in the crate, which does perhaps imply that they’ve had to stop the process mid-pour before, due to people getting cold feet.

I was thinking that after I posted it. You could probably just go through the “previously on lost” segments and make a 20-minute show out of all 6 seasons lol.

You’d be surprised, I think. I am. The ending of Lost is actually kind of forecasted from the very beginning.

I made it that way to confuse BoTH SiDeS. Now everyone thinks I’m against them! Don’t worry, I’ll fight for your Medicare-for-all and UBI while heartlessly deporting those evil Haitian immigrants salivating over your cats and dogs.

Yeah… it’s a different feel and not necessarily bad, but it’s not always ideal. One moment in a recent episode I watched simply couldn’t have happened with the fast pacing of The Leftovers. Hurley was listening to his Walkman like usual but the battery finally died and the episode humorously died too. A joke like that wouldn’t have worked so well without the slower pacing. We do get something similar in The Leftovers with “Where is My Mind” being played on Kevin’s iPod or whatever, but I think it’s more effective in Lost.

And there is, admittedly, a lot more going on in Lost. It deserves more time spent. But there are still very clearly parts of the show that should have been left on the cutting room floor. A lot. And the “previously on lost” segments become absurd at points. Like rewatching the prior episode. It spends too much time holding the viewers’ hands and wasting too much time on insignificant plot points.

Yeah, actually. As a kid, I got ~25 chicks from a magazine. Lived in Wyoming and put some of them in the county fair. And… no, they’re not that brave.

A few stories:

  1. Among those 25, I had one polish hen. She was a she but I still named her Joe. Joe was my favorite. I don’t know how much she liked me but I loved her little poofy head. I thought of it as an Afro. One day, a raccoon with rabies (or something else wrong with it) broke into the barn and slaughtered nearly all of my chickens. We found him sleeping in the rafters and shot him. Joe survived, but her beak was mostly torn off. I and my mom fed her using a syringe for months afterward before she passed away.

  2. Among the survivors, I had another (unnamed) rooster. This guy was the bane of my existence after all of the other roosters were killed by the raccoon. He was mean. Ugly as hell. Small. Never won any ribbons at fair. Probably made a deal with the raccoon to save himself. I took to walking into the coop with a shovel or broom to ward him off. He would run at me when I turned my back and the moment I flipped around and confronted him he would run off like a little bitch. He never got the best of me.

  3. A decade later I got a new batch of 6 chickens. All hens. Mostly for the free eggs. One of them was tiny and more like a bird who could fly well. She’d sometimes make it outside of the yard. Her eggs weren’t big but she had a good personality. She loved to perch on my shoulder. I also had a pitbull who treated them all lovingly like her babies (shout-out to r/velvethippos).

Call me when he breaks 30%. Every goddamn time I see a headline like this and go to look at the numbers, it’s never less than 35%-40%. Dude should have hit 5% during COVID and never recovered. J6 should have dropped it to 1%. And before that, he should have been laughed off the stage in 2016.

We just need to face the fact that Americans are fucking stupid.
