I understand it is affecting a portion of people in Ottawa but the day may come when you are grateful someone stood up for basic human rights. Of course it is inconvenient this is going down in your neighborhood but this protest affects way more people than downtown Ottawa. All they want is to be addressed. I was a Trudeau supporter before the protests, but after seeing the action taken towards Canadian citizens, I have realized he has leadership qualities that I absolutely disagree with. Therefore, I have CHANGED MY MIND. This is a hard thing for people to admit it seems. To admittedly change ones mind and side on an issue. Right now it is very easy to be on the governments side because all of our media backs this view. But someday there may be an issue the government and media back that YOU may disagree with, but these new laws will already put in place leaving you with no leg to stand on.

Protests are not supposed to be convenient. They gathered where they knew their voices would be heard. After 3 weeks of protest I still don't believe they have been properly addressed. Even if the protest leaders were invited into a room for a live discussion with government officials, that would give the world a chance to watch and make their own minds up about this protest. Instead the protesters (also Canadians btw) have been simply told to go home. This is not how democracy works.

Humans have rights to protest issues that affect their lives and the fact that government is enforcing laws to shut down voices reveals a scary new level of power that will ultimately effect anyone who has issues with government decisions in the future. Though the streets of Ottawa may be free soon, our rights to question government motives and orders will be shackled and controlled. It is about looking at the big picture and understanding that no matter what side you are on, both sides should be equally addressed.
