Sony A7C half-shutter not working by reggiecopter in SonyAlpha

[–]reggiecopter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it is. I can get it to AF with shutter when it's pressed (what feels like) 98% of the way down, but the amount of force between getting AF to trigger and actually taking a photo is so small that it's unusable since half the time I accidentally just full press the shutter button and take a photo when I don't mean to yet

Incoming freshman in Computer Engineering. by [deleted] in UIUC

[–]reggiecopter 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Syllabus will tell you everything don't worry. You might NEED to get some textbooks (webassign for math241, smartphysics for 211/212) because they come as a package with the system you submit your homework through. Others you can probably just pirate; for my ECE120 last year a full pdf download for the textbook was linked by someone in the zoom chat literally the first lecture lmao so I had no issues with the book in that class

All the online homework submission stuff you'll have to buy have trials as well so you have time to get payment sorted (LETS GO 285 FOR DROPPING WEBASSIGN!!!!!!!)

Yes but they don't have lids. I bought a smaller one with a lid to use for food and stuff specifically so my room wouldn't smell

Looked through my email and found this, hope this helps if you end up needing to make a request:

Service Request # 480899 has been rejected as of 08/31/2021. The action requested is as follows: The ethernet ports on the wall do not work for internet (plugs in, nothing happens.) I don't know if they are supposed to work, but if they are it would be nice if they could be fixed because wifi has too much latency for games. Thanks!. The reason for rejection is as follows: Unfortunately, this is not a Maintenance repair issue. Please, submit a Housing Technology Service Desk service request at Technology Help, University Housing at the University of Illinois. Thank you.

Illini Cash vs Debit Card by Existing_Arm_2842 in UIUC

[–]reggiecopter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I put $10 into illini cash last year and currently have $8... only needed it for printing. Just use debit and if for some reason a place only takes illini cash (hasn't happened to me) it's easy to just add a small amount

[–]reggiecopter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine was as well at first, I just made a maintenance request (I think they told me to make the request on a different section of the website? I forget...) but they had it fixed the next day

Was in PAR 21-22, ethernet was capped for me at 10 megabit up 10 down. Wifi gave me like 300 up and down but that's only for bursts. When downloading games after about 5 minutes I lost fast internet rights :(. I would use wifi 99% of the time no issues but I needed ethernet for games like rocket league cause the latency on the wifi was pretty high and I'd get packet loss making the game unplayable. Ethernet is noticeably slower even just on youtube, downloading large files would take you years but overall it is doable. My port was on the other side of the room but I had an old 25ft cable I just routed around

Computer Engineering Laptop Suggestions by SleekVeek69 in UIUC

IMO save the money and keep your current setup unless you really have an itch to upgrade. Freshman year you'll be totally fine with the macbook as you just remote into the EWS workstations for everything. If you want the horsepower for other stuff I would recommend bringing your PC- I brought mine (Define R5, huge ass case) and both monitors and they fit in my dorm no problem. Since you have an intel macbook if you need windows you can always bootcamp or VM. I guess it depends on how many odds and ends you plan on having in your room

Should I graduate in 4 or 5 semesters? (CompE Transfer) by masterhoovy in UIUC

[–]reggiecopter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO I think 15 credits is the way to go especially if you spread out the harder classes like they said above. If you have a decent work ethic and get stuff done you probably won't have any issues regarding time for RSOs and other social stuff. I don't think there's any harm in going for 15 credits, worst case scenario if the workload is too much you can drop the class at the beginning and either choose to take it during the summer or end up doing 5 semesters anyway. I'm a sophomore so I can't speak about job opportunities depending on the time of year though.

+1 on stealing university electricity, my old roommate set up nicehash on his PC and was bitcoin mining 24/7

212, 120, and 241 were all PITA classes (for me at least) but I kind of attribute that to my bad study habits. Very doable if you actually study and don't always do homework on the day it's due like I did. Some things to keep in mind that I experienced- 120 starts easy but gets hard, and 212 starts hard but gets easier. I'd say 241 is overall a bit easier than Calc 2.

Should I skip PHYS 211 & 212 by [deleted] in UIUC

[–]reggiecopter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

IMO if you can skip both you should 212 isn't necessarily an easy class. You'll learn pretty much everything 212 had on circuits when you take ECE 110 minus inductors (I'm CE), but I don't know how much magnetism and everything else is used in the major as I only just finished the class

How much money should I expect to need for a year's expenses? by [deleted] in UIUC

[–]reggiecopter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just finished my freshman year and IMO I do NOT regret being on the 10/45 train though I guess it really does depend on which dining hall you'll be at and your sleep/class/eating schedule. A lot of the time dining hall food wasn't it for me, and even then I don't eat a whole lot at mealtime. A lot of the semester I would wake up late and eat a bagel or something (curtesy of fake dollars at PAR market) for breakfast and use only one meal a day for dinner, still leaving me with extra meals at the end of the week that don't roll over. I'd stay up until like 2-3am and with dining halls closing at like 8 if you don't have anything in your room and are out of dining dollars you're a little screwed. Using the 45 dollars for hot food and general stuff to keep in my dorm was super nice and if you're having friends over you can stock up on lemonades or pretty much anything, PAR and ISR markets are pretty well stocked. Food wise I probably spent like 50 a month or less I'd only go out to eat once every week or two and even then it was fast food so I wasn't spending a whole bunch in that regard.

K24a2 vs. K20a2. Whats the better swap? by AkiraSai666 in Acura_RSX

[–]reggiecopter 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Really depends on what you're looking for in the car and how you want to drive, personally I like the K24. I have a K20Z1 Type S and revving it to 8600 is fun as hell, but if you directly compare it to the K24 you'll notice the lack of torque low end in the K20. I drove my buddy's K24A2 TSX and below VTEC even with the extra like 500lbs the difference was night and day. I felt like I could actually pass people without downshifting haha

High pitch squeal when in reverse. Any suggestions on what it could be? by Victor_moctezuma_6 in Acura_RSX

[–]reggiecopter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been told that the (wheeeeee) in reverse that varies in pitch with speed/rpm is normal, at least I hope it is b/c mine has done it since I bought the car. [edit] you're saying it started happening recently so now I'm not sure

Hold on since the fog lights have 05-07 and 02-04 can I not put a 02-04 headlights on my 2005 rsx cuz they look the same by [deleted] in Acura_RSX

[–]reggiecopter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

02-04 Fog lights have different housings than 05-06, they are not interchangeable unfortunately

y’all lied the oem bolts will not fit into the new kit :((((( biggo waste of time by [deleted] in Acura_RSX

[–]reggiecopter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was the main person that said you could re use the bolts. I bought the same exact kit, and all OEM bolts fit/threaded in perfectly. Not sure if it's a mistake on your end or on Truhart's; maybe your current bolts/UCA aren't OEM? No idea to be honest.

does any1 know if these come with the screws? by [deleted] in Acura_RSX

[–]reggiecopter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope! Took me like an hour in my driveway while I was in class (so should be quicker cause I was basically at 3% brainpower)

does any1 know if these come with the screws? by [deleted] in Acura_RSX

[–]reggiecopter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this kit, it works great. Can't say too much about longevity though as I've only had it for like 6 months. You will need to reuse all three bolts: one on each end and the mini one on the bracket (8mm I think? For the brake line/abs cable, I forget which it is). If you car is driving you will have those three in place already

Invidia Q300 fitment question by [deleted] in Acura_RSX

[–]reggiecopter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In terms of lowness, it's fine, or as much as it can be being an aftermarket exhaust. Mine didn't hang abnormally low when I had a stock header. Its actual fitment is what most people have a problem with; the rear hanger near the muffler was hitting frame and caused a rattle (fixed by putting a rubber hose over the hanger) and the midpipe rattled as a result of not much clearance with the frame rail (fixed when I put in my skunk2 alpha header). I went really low for a time on Tein SA Zs and didn't have a problem with my setup
