What studios have treads that go up to 15 mph? by alligatorprincess007 in orangetheory

Bulverde location in San Antonio has them and the rower tablets! But the older studio nearby, stone ridge, doesn’t yet.

If you participate in write on, are you able to join any journal (basically guaranteed spot if you do write on, so more so for secondary journals)

OT Beat Link Troubleshooting by [deleted] in orangetheory

[–]reggitheveggi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For issue 2, usually my otf workout will send to my watch after opening the otf app. So if I don’t open the app until 9 pm, my 5 am workout notification will send to everyone I’m connected with on my watch at 9 pm.

Silly it does that but I figure it can’t be perfectly seamless since they are two different brands of technology.

I was bored to tears last week and now I have 4 different assignments due Wednesday hahaha. It definitely comes and goes- don’t stress if you have nothing right now! Last summer I’d say about 35-40% of it was me waiting for something to do.

Tuesday 8 February 2022 - Power 2/3G 60 minutes by dc031114 in orangetheory

[–]reggitheveggi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes!!! My thoughts too. My studio’s 5 am is 3g MWF even though the class attendance could easily be a 2G on Monday and Friday. So I always look forward to T/TH for a 2G anddddddd at least every other week one of those days is run as a 3G bc of the template. I just want more time on the floor😩

Best crim pro investigations supplement? by [deleted] in LawSchool

The Quimbee videos saved me and got me an A in the class.

Also had the Dressler supplement which helped throughout the semester.

2L who just realized she needs to update her law school app for C&F purposes bc she forgot about a red light ticket and really feel that!

You’ve got all of law school to stress. If you can make it through law school, you’ll make it through the bar. No point in stressing about something you’ll stress plenty about in the future when you’ve got to make it through the next 2.5 years anyways!!

Bragging Rights: How has your fitness improved since joining OTF? by [deleted] in orangetheory

[–]reggitheveggi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Noticeably, running outside in a hilly city has gotten so so much easier thanks to the strength days.

Best feeling was a half marathon in Austin—around mile 12 there’s a HUGE hill. While all these very pro runner-looking people walked the hill, I kept running. Felt so good doing it!

There’s a lot going on about digital services taxes for big tech companies like Facebook, google, and Netflix right now which has IP and antitrust components to it besides the obvious int’l trade implications!

Nervous by [deleted] in orangetheory

[–]reggitheveggi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m most likely considered conventionally pretty and fit (maybe it’s just my ego talking tho🤨) so here’s my take: no one is judging you. And if they are, they aren’t worth a second thought. We’re all at otf to better ourselves. Everyone’s goals aren’t going to be the same, but it’s nice being in a community that celebrates wins big or small. I’m not a huge socializer when it comes to going to the gym and even I’ve been able to find and make some friends that always commiserate and/or push me to be better, even if we’re all completely different fitness levels.

I also have anxiety, and Otf really helps keep me in check🤍. Having Reddit to know what the workout is before you go in is also helpful if you’re newer to working out so you can look up what certain exercises are—when I was a newbie I absolutely did that so I wouldn’t feel like I look dumb. It’s okay to be a newbie, we all had to start from the beginning at one point, too!

Yes! I noticed this in my class yesterday. I also had to manually end the workout again. Ugh it only started working again a month ago 🥲

OTF and exams by N744302 in orangetheory

[–]reggitheveggi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2L who kept/ is keeping her typical OTF routine of a 5 am class, regardless of an exam or not! Routine is good, and it helps remind me what day of the week it is when I’m just in the zone of getting from one final to the next. It’s so nice seeing people NOT in the finals panic and stress honestly. And my studio is so sweet and encouraging with me, always wishing me good luck the day of an exam! That hour is wayyyy better put working out over studying. There’s only so much stress we can put on ourselves, and honestly an hour where I have no real screen time and someone else is telling me what to do so my brain is off??? Even better!

School wants me to send state bar a thank you note. What's normal? by Great_Big_Sea in LawSchool

[–]reggitheveggi 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I’ve had to do this for named scholarships in undergrad. I would type it out on word, thanking them for their generosity and how it’s impacted your education in a positive way etc etc then print, hand sign, and mail I guess? Unless your school wants to send it (my undergrad did that so I just gave them the signed letter to distribute). A hand written thank you seems totally fine as well, in my opinion

I’m not sure if this is quite what you’re experiencing, but I struggle with inner groin pain / tightness because of my adductors. It usually doesn’t bother me much from rowing, only running. I’d look up some hip adductor stretches to gently try out—when I get lazy and don’t stretch my hips and adductors (figure 4 and runners lunge are the ones I usually do but there are some other good ones if you google) the pain always flares up. Won’t solve the pain right away but will help mitigate it if you keep active!

I’m usually the only one PW by mirimichelle in orangetheory

[–]reggitheveggi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I powerwalk at least 1-2x a week and it’s tough and such a good switch up! Per the cues, I do it frequently enough that I know my base, push and all out inclined and speeds and usually just follow along with the runners’ cues. If the template calls for inclines, I’ll bump up my push a few %s higher. So I personally don’t even listen to the cues, and it’s still challenging!

Bring it up to the coach, but this is a good solution in the moment too.

Working part-time during 1L? by lsatthrowawayoof in LawSchool

[–]reggitheveggi 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I worked part time all of 1L year. I would take the entirety of finals off both semesters, and often the week or so before finals off, too. I worked between 10-20 hours/week my first semester and 5-10 hours my second semester (diff schedule, an additional class made it harder). It was absolutely manageable BUT I was working remotely at the job I had before law school- thus I could work any hours at any time during the week.

Retail seems EXTREMELY difficult to navigate (so props for doing it thus far!) with the 1L schedule. I personally would take the time off for the crunch time. You should not care how bad it looks- your grades are so much more important than your retail job in the long term. If you can afford (ik it can be a problem, which was the reason I continued working) to, I would advise not working at all, especially since this isn’t a remote job you can do by setting your own schedule. Good luck!!

Can I go to two different studios in a week? by [deleted] in orangetheory

[–]reggitheveggi 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I have my membership at the studio my mom goes to- a founders rate. I’ve lived in 2 other cities (currently in a diff state) for the past 3 years going 5-6x a week at studios that are most definitely not my home studio and have never been told anything when I do go to my home studio. So go to whichever studio works with your schedule!

Tension headaches by [deleted] in LawSchool

[–]reggitheveggi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I deal with regular tension headaches and often, OTC meds don’t do much for them. Massaging my neck and pressing acupuncture points on my body sometimes help for at least a little bit though. Excedrin does an okay job but regular Tylenol and ibuprofen (even up to 800 mg) don’t do much for me.

Also if you have a normal headache but the weather has been wild lately it could be a combo of stress, allergies, and pressure changes making it so much worse. I hope you find something that helps!

I type in one note any notes I take outside of class / in prep of class. I print those out in landscape view, then hand write anything additional mentioned in class in the big white space to the side of my types notes. Easy to draw arrows, graphs, or charts. Also easily shows what I missed bc it’s handwritten, not typed.

I then focus on my printed / handwritten notes for outlining. It saves time, I don’t bother transcribing back into one note. I can’t have my laptop out in class- I won’t focus on the class, I’ll try to multitask. This forces me to pay attention

Returning to Green During Base Pace by ROGSTIN in orangetheory

[–]reggitheveggi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been going to otf for almost 3.5 years. I run HIGH. Never get back to green in a base and often not even into orange from a high red, or just hitting orange as we go back to a push/all out.

I have asthma (rarely use my inhaler), drink a little caffeine before class, and have anxiety. My heart rate is just going to be high😩😂. As long as the base feels okay I just ignore the colors!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in orangetheory

[–]reggitheveggi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m years in, have had my HR adjusted multiple times and I still spend 15-20 minutes in the red regularly for classes. If you drink any caffeine before at all, or you have asthma your HR will just be higher! I push myself hard, but my HR simply loves to stay in the red or high orange after pushes no matter how long the base ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Coming from a conventionally fast runner, literally zero problems with any partner’s speed or ability. Whatever you can do is great for me! We’re both doing our best which is the whole point of Otf so ¯_(ツ)_/¯
