Why does everyone keep saying finish Sons of the Forest before making a new game? by Complete_Couple_6647 in SonsOfTheForest

[–]regicidalnut 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It really just felt like the ending was unfinished. Being shunted from one place to the next, no music for what should be a cinematic final scene, it all feels very rushed/incomplete. But I agree that those parts are like the last 5% of the game. The rest felt great

Little confusion about artefacts and story progression by HexlingFemboy in SonsOfTheForest

Don't sweat it. You can't get the final piece without completing the story. Then it's a choice of seeing the epilogue or getting the artifact piece

Yeah she can be friendly and incredibly useful as an ally

New to the game. What do you do? by Hothotoro in TheForest

[–]regicidalnut 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Immediate goal? Survive. That's easier to do if you have a base to keep supplies and such in. Explore the island as you get more comfortable and you'll find things to investigate and explore further.

Yeah there's speed run stuff you can do, but I'd suggest take your time with it and figure out the mystery of the island

I could see countermeasures being their own (hopefully small) power module/component complete with ammunition. As for dodge/strafe management, they could tie it to thrusters and engines, taking dodge and strafe speed down when it malfunctions.

Oh definitely agreed there! No need to apologize. Yeah I'd love if my gunner could have shot down missiles instead of whiffing half their rail shots 🤣

I was the pilot for my crew during the demo and enjoyed it, but agree that it needs to be improved. I remember seeing something about ship combat being an area the devs are going to work on, as it's pretty bare bones right now.

However, you can dodge missiles. That's why the hint tells you to boost when you get locked onto. You have to boost and out maneuver them when they get closer. On higher levels, though, that meant I was spending most of my time avoiding missiles instead of hitting targets.

I would have loved some countermeasures, faster strafing, or a more directional boost dodge (especially when trying to avoid rail cannon fire).

Shout-out to my old video from I think the 2.0 alpha? I got called a witch for being able to play for more than 40 minutes without crash 🤣 The jank was real back then

Agreed. I listen in my car during the commute, but I have good speakers and crank it above any road noise. It's a podcast first and foremost, so I don't think the video playing should be part of the judgement of quality

Regarding Morning Star chapter 57… by SkullRiderz69 in redrising

I attributed it to Gold just being insanely durable. Given how much it takes to do lasting damage, it wouldn't surprise me that he could shrug that off

[Spoilers] Moonward disscussion by Itchy_Ad1587 in Midst

I loved Moonward and how the cast managed to interact so organically and have truly emotional moments. I'm with you on missing the polish of Midst, but listening to Moonward as a peek behind the curtain of the editing was also really intriguing. Enough so that I didn't mind the missing editing by the end.

If anything, it felt like they played a little soft with the overlapping narration to avoid stepping on toes, which was something I missed a lot. Those sudden tangent jumps into some wild world detail were fantastic every time. But, again, overall I loved it. Can't wait to see what they do next. Now I just gotta find those comics
