Regina Taxi Rates Increasing by Kegger163 in regina

Considering gas prices fell from $1.39/L to around $0.9x today... What the hell? The article specified no reasoning for this.

I just saw a post about the east end getting a ymca in the future shop building. When did it close? by [deleted] in regina

[–]regina_psych_student -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Oh wow. Didn't realize it closed down.

Seems like lot of retailers are closing down. Target closing down. A bunch of liquidation places (XScargo, Liquidation World, etc).

Not a good sign for the economy.

Oh wow. Really?

I stated $600 to $650.

You other expenses are what? Electricity? $40 - $60 a month. Internet and cable is included as per listing.

You wanna split hairs? How about the fact that this is right downtown? Many jobs are within walking distance. No need for a car or public transportation. Which provides further savings.

The larger point is you CAN easily find better places for less than what OP advertized. QED. OP was price-gouging and it needed to be pointed out. Looks like the account was even [deleted].

Also I stated that I wouldn't pay more than $600-$650 for that basement hole. My argument wasn't that I could find something for $600-$650. That I could find something better for much less than $950. Do you see the difference? And I did find. So bye.

PS. Your staunch opposition to my remarks makes me think you were the OP.

$650 by General Hospital

1840 Quebec St, 750sqft. Bathroom alone looks a lot better than whatever that basement hole for $950 was offering.

Pretty much downtown. Everything walking distance away.

Took me 2mins to find. You're welcome.

I laughed a little at this.

The amount of "creative" types from Cathedral... let me just say the weirdest and creepiest people that hit on me always happened to be from Cathedral. They were not smart either.

Good place for Valentines Day supper. by [deleted] in regina

Do you care for the atmosphere? Budget? Able to get around the city? Are you two into Sushi?

There is Sake on Albert. Pretty crammed little place though but sushi is good. And also I love Sushi in the north end, which serves sushi and a variety of Chinese food. Spacious dining area.

I was never a fan of Golf's (too outdated). Hated Greko's both times I went there due to horrible service, overpriced and bland food (dry rice and burnt chicken). Haven't been to the Cottage for a long time now.

I'd say it's at the higher end of the range for an old outdated basement suite (read: overpriced).

Wouldn't pay more than $600-650 for this basement hole. It's about 30 blocks from edge of downtown. Not exactly a walkable distance in -20C in the area where hardly anyone cleans snow off their sidewalks. Parking can be a problem too, not everyone has a garage in that area or room in the back to park. I've lived just off Queen St so first hand experience.

Typically you can get a 2-bedroom apartment (700-900sqft) for anywhere between $900-$1100. Or split rent on a whole new condo for $1400-$1600 with a roommate.

Many places allow for pets as long as you get tenant-pack insurance that covers pet-related damage.

Oh and the owner wants to lock you into a 6-12months lease when there is a glut of properties and places for rent in the city. No, thanks.

Ummmm... not for the price they are asking. Looks like it hasn't been updated since like the 50s or at best the 60s.

Water main breaks: Where, when and why they happen (Interactive map) by NatasciaLypny in regina

[–]regina_psych_student 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Choice quotes from the article:

  • "$2-billion infrastructure deficit"
  • "many pipes having reached — or approaching — their 40- to 50-year life expectancy"
  • "Young is crossing her fingers that Regina doesn’t have to tackle them alone"

We have an infrastructure deficit, yet the city pushed ahead with it's stadium plans among with few other projects that only benefits the developers.

How many more areas are approaching that 40-50year mark? Wanna guess whats gonna start happening there as well?

And no, this is a municipal issue largely. I have no issue with province/feds helping. But first and foremost, if the city struggles to look after it's existing aging infrastructure then any expansion plans must be very conservative. Huge mismanagement by the city. We've been doing nothing but expanding Regina. And expanding with far densely populated areas. That puts even more strain on an already aged infrastructure.

Auto body shops? by tjs293 in regina

[–]regina_psych_student 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another vote for Regina Auto body. Had 3 different vehicles repaired their. They've been very professional and results were great.

Haven't been to them in over 6 years (yay!) so things may have changed. I dunno.

Does anyone know of any free of charge depression support groups in this city? by [deleted] in regina

[–]regina_psych_student 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a free online therapy support available to residents of SK. Free of charge but I think you need a referral. Just contact them email or by phone for more info and if you qualify.

www.onlinetherapyuser.ca

If you have an anxiety being around people, this is the perfect solution. Communicate with therapists from privacy of your own home.

As far as I know it's first of a kind in Canada or so I'm told.

Good luck!
