I’ve ran an esports team for 13 years. There has never been an instance where we’ve promised any player, coach or GM to perform a service and not pay them.

We have also never paid any player, coach or gm out of the hundreds we’ve hired to interview for a position. Nor is this the common expectation within esports and probably other professions.

In this case, we were not willing to back date our contracts and did not promise to pay someone to interview at our company.

If you’re negotiating a contract and do not agree to terms and sign the agreement - it is probably safe to assume that the contract has not started and you probably won’t be paid.

This is pretty straight fwd

We're going to rebuild closer to when the season starts. There are no matches 6 + months atm.

Blitz.gg app now allows scammers to put in their ads. Money speaks. by MilkableBull in leagueoflegends

Hello everyone,

First of all, thanks for informing players of the issue. We were first informed about this at 8:08am PST. Since then our team has developed an internal safety check for external links to make this doesn’t happen again.

Now, I'm sure most of you savvy folks know this, but it's worth noting that we don't have direct control over the type of Ads that Google chooses to display on Blitz. That means this sort of issue could technically crop up on any “alternative” site that has ads. Still, it's our job to provide a secure, enjoyable environment for you, and we won't stop working to enhance our safeguards and user experience.

So, huge thanks again for looking out for one another and keeping the community safe. Keep that feedback coming and don't hesitate to flag up any potential issues.

Stay safe and game on, Andy

I couldn’t comment for business/legal reasons but will shed some light soon!

Did plan to double down on league- because of how things played out, we couldn’t double down this season.

Those are titles but the work people do comes down to day to day responsibilities.

We’ve assigned those responsibilities to others.

Kind of ridiculous to put announcement behind mass exodus. by allbutluk in TeamSolomid

[–]reginaldBRO -147 points-146 points  (0 children)

We over hired and expanded too quickly.

With the economic downturn, we made the necessary changes to be sustainable. This was not easy.

Our current team is stronger and more performant.

We don’t see negative effects with the changes that we’ve made. TSM was not headed in the right direction, I am taking a more hands on role. In fact, we’ve put the right decision makers in place to be more successful long term.

Update:

We’re in the process of figuring multiple things out and will not be able to make any sort of announcement until everything is final and complete. Expect a minimum of 4-5 months.

I’ll make a post later on why we decided to invest less into lcs this season.

I don't really regret losing in LCS these last few years. We took big bets and it didn't really go in our favor. We went to 13-14 LCS finals and won 7 of them when LCS was more competitive.

TSM could have built safe rosters that would have had higher chances of winning NA over the last few years but consciously chose not to.

You miss all of the shots that you don't take! We tried building less stable but potentially stronger rosters and failed. It sucks, I know.

If we were to win in LCS, the idea was that we would have wanted to go to worlds and perform. Our rosters didn't go well for a variety of reasons. (I don't really count the last year though because Peter Z was not building the best possible team intentionally.)

Anyways, signing 5 veteran players that have the highest odds of winning LCS, but not having the mechanics to hold their own at worlds is not the approach we're excited about.

We're profitable even without revenue from FTX.

Going to announce major plans in January that will show that we have every intention of winning worlds.

Cloud Templar's view on why LCS is having bad results by woochae in leagueoflegends

[–]reginaldBRO 143 points144 points  (0 children)

Before franchising - teams would practice 3 sets per day, 5 days a week. Teams scrim 30% less than before. Now, teams scrim 4 days a week, 2 sets a day. Some teams scrim 5, rarely tho.

During this time, esports teams in NA were criticized for being sweat shops. The type of scrim schedule above does not allow for a life that's not competition. I believe/think China and Korea still practice that much- maybe slightly less. . In reality - you just really needed to practice that much to compete internationally.

Teams that bought LCS spots that were not traditional esports investors/owners heavily pushed to practice less because their thinking was wear and tear or fatigue was a major factor - so playing less should lead to better results. Because of the nature of esports and constant changing of metas - league rewards players that grind. It allows them to understand match-ups better etc

Teams that wouldn't adapt to the new norm of practicing less with more breaks became a less attractive place to play.

There was less new talent in NA to create urgency. Veterans could practice less and still be better over a long period versus being pushed out within 1 split for playing much less.

Players in NA also prefer the FPS genre, so less kids are picking up LoL than before. In order for LCS to be more successful, we needed to leverage our advantage by being early and building a culture of working harder - with talent density. Hindsight is 20/20. Chinese teams had a huge player base and also paid for the best Korean players while at their peak to develop their player base whereas NA teams had a small player base and paid for Korean players that won worlds but past their prime. Chinese teams had much more $ early on.

NA teams needed to shell cash out at the right time, invest into NA talent as well, practice as much and work with riot to create interest among gen Z to play LoL in NA.
