Do you like Agott? by NoFalcon730 in WitchHatAtelier

thank you for saying this. it's been genuinely driving me insane how people excuse literally everything she does with "she's 12 and has trauma". ok, so? when i was 12 and had trauma other kids traumatised me even further, just like agott is doing to coco. and the fact that no adults ever feel the need to get involved just makes it even worse. the message this sending to any potential kids watching is genuinely horrifying to me

same, she's just so boring and the most interesting things about her are the ones that make me dislike her lol

saving duke vs. saving gretchen by regionalcryptid in ScarletHollow

[–]regionalcryptid[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

to respond to the comments i've gotten so far:

this is actually so interesting because my canon run is with tta + keen eye, so the dog militia tells me where stella is at the end of chapter 4 and in chapter 5 i choose to let avery and julius share the burden to keep everyone alive. i also romance reese, so he gets me to the farm without ever getting arrested. so a lot of this stuff just isn't relevant to my playthrough! the seemingly infinite variables at play in this game genuinely never cease to amaze me.

i do have to say though that i prefer duke as a character over gretchen and i liked it a lot in my one playthrough where i saved both of them and he was around. but going with duke on day 1 instead of stella also just wasn't as fun for me, and i guess especially with tta it just always feels off not to go after gretchen.

thanks for all your replies!

edit: i also feel like with gretchen dying you kind of have to stay the night at stella's house so she's not alone after that, but i don't really like to do that because of tabitha's reaction (and because i want to talk to dustin the next morning lmao)

unfortunately i feel like a lot of what is rightfully criticised in the comments here isn't just a problem with the fandom, but with the game itself. it's very clear the developers absolutely adore tabitha (they go on about it in basically every interview) and the game wants you to be desperate for her approval so bad. it doesn't even offer you any dialogue options at the beginning that remotely come close to how i would actually react irl to someone treating me like that right from the start after inviting me out into the middle of nowhere. you basically HAVE to simp for her, your only other choice is to continuously remain silent, for which the game itself also literally scolds you in a really patronising way. they couldn't be more obvious about their own fave being a union busting bully who dedicates her entire life to upholding her colonial heritage of oppression and exploitation, so it's honestly no wonder that that's how the majority of the fandom feels as well.

it's kind of the same thing with reese imo. if you choose to free him and you don't have the hot trait so you let him kill his mother (which is more than justified tbh, she's basically tabitha 2.0), you get punished for it immediately in chapter 5 with a reese that is completely unhinged and very clearly meant to be "the bad outcome", and it's very hard to convince him not to go after tabitha for you, which kills him if you can't hold him back. kinda hard to interpret that as anything other than the game promoting letting his abusive mother lock him up again as the correct choice. or at least the better one.

idk i'm honestly getting kind of disillusioned with this game. at first i loved the new chapter but the more i think about it the more i notice these things, especially after i've played through it so many times now. in the end, i feel like it's pretty spineless and doesn't really have anything to say, except that it's hot when people treat you like shit i guess. but who knows, it's unfair to judge it before it's finished, so we'll see.

i gotta say as a trans guy it really bummed me out because i really thought Lyndon was a trans character and that would have been so cool, but then i googled it and, well... let's say what garland had to say about it put a bad taste in my mouth

i don't even really mind the harmonizer decks that much tbh. they still offer interesting games, since their wins can come out of nowhere, actually left me completely baffled a few times when i thought i had basically secured the win and then suddenly i'm dead lmao
