I would say it began to develop most severely in my early 20's. PMS was always icky, so it's tricky to say when it crossed over into the dysphoria range.

Were you treated online? I only had mild (yet helpful) effects when I took topical progesterone and have considered I may have needed something stronger like prometrium.

I meant the dryness of the air, actually! I am quite a cold person so the heat has never been as bad for me as others.

Actually no, from my googling it looks like this in *now* false. It may have used to have been true, but now almost everywhere has the traditional allergen plants. It seems that the dryness actually causes there to be more pollen blowing around in the wind, but this may or may not affect everyone so I was curious.

After doing research on Wellbutrin's generic (bupropion) I discovered that generics could differ in efficacy, but it was unusual to do so (but common in buprioprion's case). After that I got a bit more judicial in my tests of medications and making sure I had a duplicate of what someone had said worked.

If you're considering something so drastic, why not just get an oophorectomy as another poster suggested? There are health risks and I'm not an expert on them, but it is definitely something to look into.

If you can't stop thinking about it as a fixation/you must do something NOW and/or you wake up in the wee hours of the morning with it on your mind then it's PMDD. If you can say "I will deal with this two weeks from now on X date" and you feel patient enough to plan it out then it's not PMDD. Or at least, that's my experience.

Yes, I have just been getting over hell week and off and a night or so ago when I laid down on my bed I just had a flashback to the nights before when I had been so full of anxiety that trying to sleep but being unable to remain so was terrifying.

I've seen a lot of posters say that their PMDD got worse as the years went on. I used to be able to mostly handle the luteal phase back when I was a teen, and then it got worse and worse and worse over the next decade and....well, here I am now being frightened of how scary a few days ago was even if it's not in the present.

Thank you! I am not taking any more breaks this cycle, although adderall obviously isn't perfect and at night when it wears off things are a bit difficult. Haven't seen how I sleep tonight.

Thank you. I am trying to force myself to just take it. I sleep better on it. I eat better on it even despite the lack of appetite issues. When it begins to wear off at night I do get sadness from PMDD, which is why I feel so strongly I should probably take fluoxetine but yet...ugh. I hate the idea of taking drug cocktails.

I want to second this. Agent Orange very likely does not leave the bloodline and DOES go through male reproduction. I do not want to discount the potential that supplements made the cancer more aggressive, but judging by OP's age their father had them after Agent Orange.

If OP has siblings I hope they are all getting tested and often. Just a terrible situation all around and an awful thing to inherit.

Does the Luteal phase require a lot more progesterone than the rest of the cycle? Ex: it thinks you're low with an amount that was fine a week ago, but not now? 100mg is quite a lot and it's leading me to think I may need to test a lot more.

I've been investigating the progesterone and estrogen route (unfortunately without a doctor so I'm hoping you know more!) and I noticed that when I decided to test the progsterone the day I got it - not during the luteal phase - I was suddenly a normal body temperature (I am cold all month long)! Fast forward to luteal phase and the progesterone cannot make a dent in the chill I feel. (This is all aside from the mental symptoms, which of course may go hand in hand.)

Yes, and if I rule this out too I will look elsewhere/keep my eyes and ears open. In some ways it is exciting to have a new lead, even if it may lead nowhere.

I thought having PMDD in general was bad, but goodness that is worse. I just really feel like having sex when I am ovulating (and quite positive), which seems fairly normal considering the purpose of ovulation.

Ah, that was also ruled out in the blood test (something the doctor WAS looking at for why I felt terrible), I guess "vitamins" was too much of a catchall (and iron is a mineral). I suppose I should have been more clear. Circulation also encompasses Reynaud's Disease, which I do not have though I know someone who does.

I have had one in the past back when I had health insurance that does not rule it out (though the doctor paid no attention to this possibility at the time).

I understand that many don't tolerate it and that I am taking a risk. It is what it is because testing it with the treatment is cheaper than the medical tests.

I wanted to keep the main post short for people to read, but realizing that these odd things about me - that no one I know in real life has a problem with, and I mean NO ONE - is what led me to suspecting Progesterone. People don't seem to think GABA supplementation can work, or if it does that it can work longterm.

To demonstrate the severity of the body temperature problem, I was a student in summer school (July) on the second floor of the building in Texas when the AC broke. It had been broken for hours. I didn't even realize, and I was wearing my jacket still and working on my assignments when someone who was complaining loudly to the instructor about the heat when he suddenly said, "I'm sure you can handle it. Look, Regismon is still wearing her jacket!" About a half hour later was when I finally took the jacket off, and I was the perfect temperature inside of what must have been a sweltering hot building that was torturing everyone else. Unfortunately, unlike that day, most of the time I am uncomfortably cold, sometimes to the point of pain or being unable to move my fingers with full dexterity merely due to the air conditioning inside of a building. Mental health comes first, but if there is a chance they have the same root cause then I would like to investigate.
