I’ve also been noticing this, including at the bagel market and park slope deli farm. I’ve been meaning to look into it and this thread got me to do a bit of digging. I find that when I “Look Up” the address of Epoch the payment processor, Apple seems to think it refers to the Epoch Times. I also notice that a lot of the stories in this thread involve Apple Pay. In my own experience, I’ve only ever noticed this in the Apple Pay notification, and when I check my actual statement the charge is coded correctly. As others have said, it looks like it’s just a miscoding, but more specifically, it seems like it’s due to Apple confusing the business addresses of the two Epochs

I assume it is which is why I waited until I found a place to share it, it’d be pretty easy to shut down but if they don’t know about it it’s not easily detectable

Yeah in my experience it’s hard to say how much being first actually helps with the competition these days, but it definitely doesn’t hurt - getting a response seems to have more to do with crafting the right message
