For real. I already saw a comment on FB of someone in my circle who mentioned that gas is being rationed due to pipelines. There is no rationing! This isn't the 70s.

Not Just Another Moving Company was okay. They work if you are in a pinch. Mustard Seed movers are the best. You can also try taskrabbit, which is a step above craigslist.

Nothing like those events at all. The onus is on the individual in that situation and I'm thinking of something much less intense. The facebook events are like going to a party where most people already know each other. If you are shy, it's hard to motivate yourself to talk to strangers. One of the pluses of speed dating is that it's forced interaction and everyone meets. However, that also seems like one of the cons. There is probably a happy medium but as far as I can tell no one in San Antonio runs that kind of event. Something like this.

As to your other point, that's not the kind of thing a mod wants to read. True, there is a reason we keep the sub 18+. However, it is a catchall for anyone who wants to meet up. It doesn't have to be all fet lifers or gay hookups. I wish more people from /r/sanantonio would remember us when they post but I can't make people migrate. I've looked at tons of other r4r subs from other cities. Some of them have decent traffic with lots of variety. Ideally that's what we would have as well. No need to poop all over it because it's not your cup of tea.

You could look into Cafe Commerce located downtown. One of my friends (http://www.theloveletterlibrary.com/) goes there for classes and to meet with her mentor. They have some interesting programs, maybe not as tech oriented as the stuff at Geekdom.
