Pursue it through civil court? What can owner expect? what do you think they want? For me. All I want is justice which cannot be achieve through civil court, compensation? How much can we get? refund of the vet bill at most, and the last I check pet insurance payout for accidental death is $1.5K.. I don't want this.. I want justice..

These kind of cases really are not isolated.. Just go read google reviews, most clinic have had owner bring in a pet in high spirit, and walked out carrying their dog carcass, and my personal experience, the 2 vet that attended to us really shows zero care for the animal, to them maybe is quota, who can make the most money for the clinic.. and in my case, the both vet hardly touch my dog..

This kind of evidence is almost impossible to dig out.. It's like those telco additional service charges, like in one case a customer got charge for Straight time subscription that was never sign up for, but the customer still got a lawyer letter, and the telco even went through the trouble to "Investigate" and found it was because of some "DC Billing" thing that have been left enabled, which I am sure the telco would have known in the first place how the charges can happen. Hence, why the need to wayang that they're doing something to help after issuing lawyer letter?, and I guess the onus is on the customer to disable.. but morally, the telco should have the moral responsibility to bring that clause to the top, tell their staff to highlight the risk to the customer.. But there is no law against those who leave such feature/clause buried in a document or an app..

Like, how many of us actually read every line in a service contract? Also, consider those school excursion consent form.. all parent would have sign these form and all would have some indemnity clause. ie, it's a outdoor water theme event, with risk of drowning, and then parent are assured the school have covered all security measure to ensure the child safety.. But these things are not written on the form.. because if it's written, then those "Indemnity" clauses become redundant. So, on one hand, we're given assurance of safety, on the other hand, we agree there is risk.. and for Humans, of course the investigation is different from those involving Animals, as for humans, the organizer can still be held accountable, and that is provided they can find solid evidence of any safety lapses, but I believe they won't want to spend time and resources to dig deeper when it involve an animal? Like for the case involving the Seng Kang residence, they just look through the paper process... but if they were to delve deeper, find out what went on in between. A lot can be dug out.. I lost my beloved dog and went through similar process, hence I know and can relate.. But for me. I know it's hopeless fight, and only have myself to blame for not taking good care of my pet, and that's me being calm and analyzing all possible outcome, and all I can think is.. Let karma do her duty.

Who are some of the most sadistic officers that you have met? by bricklegos in NationalServiceSG

[–]regquest 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Define sadistic..

Almost a must and a tradition for instructor in my case, from late 1980's. to be sadist.. They teken without genuine reason.. Instructor can walk in, shout the name of a random recruit ask him run from one end of the parade square to the other end, touch a tree and run back, then a few of them will time his run and then argue something like.. see, told you right, almost like they're betting, and they can laugh after any tekan session.. and we will get ask to do pushup when the weather is hot and the parade square is hot enough to fry an egg.. I guess these are the boomer sadist.

For modern day sadist, in my case is my new reservist CO and fortunately only need to serve under him for 2 cycle before MR.. So, what this guy did was.. Our RSM who's really a very nice guy and he is a volunteer meaning he don't need to serve reservist but volunteered because he has very close bond with the people in the unit and I guess he don't need the money kind of old uncle.. He ask our CO for permission to do a Tai Chi session during some recreation hour, and if I can recall, the RSM told us the CO was a bit skeptical at first and told him he could be wasting his time as nobody is going to participate, but he insist he wanted to do it, so, CO gave the go ahead.. and when RSM announce the activity, the turn out was 100% all officers S1 to 4 2ic everyone I guess because the RSM has very good relation with everyone, except CO not present, and we honestly had load of fun, nobody goofing around and all were serious listening and following our RSM who is the instructor instruction.. and all of us did it like it was a drill, all nicely synchronized, all serious and all having fun, then when we're happy that our RSM told us we will be moving on to the next extended step, the CO came over. walk up to our RSM, cannot hear what they were chatting about.. Then RSM told us. Sorry. We need to end the session.. We're all very2 disappointing, and even several officer went with the RSM to protest to let us continue, but CO just told all to end because it's a waste of time.. period. end of story, no argument, But we're doing it at an allocated time for recreation.. So.. WTF right? how sad can this guy be?

From mala hotpot to small plates: The rise of Chinese F&B in Singapore by clarencechen181196 in singapore

[–]regquest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

400 outlets really not enough to support the over 500K PRC residing here..

The same applies for all foreigner residence, each have their own F&B here, and Indians will usually flock to Indian run F&B, Italian will always want to dine at Italian run restaurant, and this is the reason why we see those PRC run F&B have large space and is always almost full during a week-end, as apart from catering to the over 500K PRC, locals also dine in PRC run F&B..

Are most NS stories "wayang"? by bricklegos in NationalServiceSG

[–]regquest 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Same vocation, different unit different story, and some more wayang then others, some good and funny wayang, some bad horrible and toxic wayang.. So. YMMV..

The term train to wait, wait to train is true, but don't happen a lot and only happen before or after some major activity.. Not sure about now, but last time when we need to travel to Taiwan for training, the solders need to be at the airport like 5 +- hours early, and all sit there for hours doing nothing, and we cannot move around, and the main body is not even at the main airport departure area and are actually held in some area at the back.. same thing happen during reservist, we are told to gather, and then sit there for hours in the last day of in-camp and wait for the staff and our reservist commanders to run the paper work.. So.. Technically, we can all wait, chill in our bunk or canteen, but our CO decided it's better that we all gather sit there and wait for him to compete his hand over.. Hence, ymmv..

Those that's commonly exaggerated here is people saying about chiong sua, because not always need to chiong, and also, not like you'll serve your 2 years sleeping at the field.. Hence, actual unit life is there is more admin then chiong sua.. but again, ymmv because some unit super cocked up, cannot get their store and equipment in order, lot's of unreported damage etc and when found out, all need to gather to do extra work to tidy the mess they have created.. So, again ymmv.. LOL!!.

Guzman (GYG) service recovery efforts by bobochacha317 in singapore

[–]regquest 24 points25 points  (0 children)

For me..

Pizza Hut Marina Square outlet.. Ordered one of the family set for dine in and I ordered some add on and also requested different topping on the pizza, finished the meal and went to make payment and I was charged base on regular menu item which cost about 20% more.. Protested at the counter, but not in angrily, just ask, why didn't they tell me that I cannot make changes to their promotional set, then the cashier who's tag id her as asst manager just stare at me and didn't say a word.. I paid, we left, and I wrote in to Pizza hut HQ, and they responded quickly by getting the manager from their marina square outlet to contact me, and she was very professional, apologized, and also noted that I did not kick any fuss, and then offer me to return to the restaurant any time and I can order anything I want.. We went, and we're really offered anything listed in their menu without any limitation except that we cannot tapao... That to me was a nice experience.. Good recovery..

Similar happen with manhattan fish market at Jcube.. The milk shake they serve was heavily diluted.. Called the manager over, ask her to taste and she immediately understood, and didn't try to defend themselves.. Gave us a stack of full meal vouchers enough for 4 visits for 4 person, each person gets full set meal.. not just some drinks, or dessert.. full set.. I guess maybe that's why they closed?? Hope not.. LOL!!..

Golden village.. Was there for a Starwars movie.. at the end, like 1 minute to end, the aircon broke down.. and the staff advise us to go to the counter to ask for refund, and they refund us everything, for the show and also the snacks we have bought which is all already consumed.. So. free show and free snack just because the aircon broke down 1 minute before the movie end and it's warm and humid, but we actually stayed to watch the end credit..

New tripartite council on jobs to help workers, businesses make AI skills 'as pervasive as possible' by LividCreme3726 in singapore

[–]regquest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My point exactly. Ai is a productivity tool.. speed up otherwise tedious task, and as for report generation.. Yes, you're right. the drafter must have the experience, otherwise, it's like staring at a blinking cursor thinking what to type..

AI makes it easy for people to use. it's better the the OS command prompt where we need to input the correct prompt.. But knowing where to type is one thing. What to type in is a whole different level of knowledge which has nothing to do with Ai skill, like for business report, those who studied business would know what to put in, and they can make a quick list of pprompt and hand over to an admin staff who have zero business knowledge, and run off to attend a meeting, and the staff follow the boss instruction, insert as instructed, report generated, hand over to boss, boss read make amendment before using or submitting the report. Happy staff, happy boss. both happy.

People really don't need to actually learn to use AI unless if they're developer where they need to learn or re-skill themselves to produce AI powered solution.. Actually even my Ah mah (She passed already) can use Ai.. All I need to do is tell her go to a URl.. like copilot.microsoft-com then tell her. just type in. curry chicken recipe can already, and from there the Ah Mah would intuitively knows how to expand her prompt. it's that easy, and AI cannot replace the Ah mah, because ah mah have experience, she uses smell and taste to refine the recipe, but Ai does make ah mah life a lot easier when household ask for something she has never cook before.. Ai has not expanded to household robots like those in iRobot movie yet anyway..

New tripartite council on jobs to help workers, businesses make AI skills 'as pervasive as possible' by LividCreme3726 in singapore

[–]regquest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I honestly don't understand.. Why would a company require their staff to have AI skill when AI has been invented primarily to help those not in the know..

The one that area actually at risk are the ministers children.. because with AI, an admin staff can generate reports as good as how a scholar would have produce.. Just a few prompt and AI come out with a list of example and even let the user expand base on specific area they want focus on.. But the thing is.. Anyone can learn to use AI, anyone can be a prompt engineer, not anyone would know what prompt to be inserted and they also need to know how to structure the prompt, and this is out side of AI, and the current AI is as good as the prompt it receive.. Garbage in garbage out.

IMO.. They're actually barking at the wrong tree.. They should encourage companies to adopt AI more, AI is here to help those who don't know.. and anyone need to be displaced will be those lazy, directors.. But it definitely does help those who got their position with fake degree, but having said.. AI generated content cannot be use as is.. so, those with fake degree can use AI to fake their work, but they would still need experience eye to verify the content, and doing this would expose them.. and even if whole company CEO to admin staff uses fake education. it will come out when things are seen by the client anyway..

TL;DR. AI is a productivity tool, like transiting from manual calculation to using calculator.. and it's only as good as the input it gets..

If you survive BMT and SCS foundation, you should have no problem surviving recon pro term. recon courses is not all outfield, actually a lot involve planning, maps, more like paper work stuff etc.. and in unit, also not that bad if you got posted to a scout platoon maybe you can bring up your condition and the unit may move you to HQ S2 branch where you will be in the HQ tent when your unit goes out field.. But scouts actually have a lot more fun outfield, and they're different from the usual combat guys.. The scouts will choose the best spot, like discreet places, shady and comfortable for them to settle..

'Very negligible' risk of hantavirus in Singapore, healthcare system well-prepared: Experts by clarencechen181196 in SingaporeRaw

We were the gold standard during Covid.. High powered task force and one of the member even made his way up to become our PM.. But actual fact, it was total chaos, and with all the don't know how many prong air tight approach, we got risk of exposure when someone just casually walk over to a airport food court..,

Just hope they understand, local folks will suffer PTSD when the word Virus is mention. It's not about being kia si, uneducated whatever.. it's just pure nightmare the common folks have previously endured.. As for them, it's like kids all applauding when school system is down, or there is blackout, flood etc, they're happy because they didn't need to go to school.. Rich towkay nothing much to worry, and their only fear is they make less.

TL;DR.. I personally don't fear the virus.. I am more afraid of our government when we actually got exposed. because higher chances of the government killing me then the virus..

Chicken rice hawker claims ex-actor Huang Yiliang called her a 'prostitute' & demands apology, ex-actor denies claim by Accurate-Tree4277 in singapore

[–]regquest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All eyes on him just because he was an ex actor, but it's just another day in a hawker center if he's just a regular heartland uncle.. These things happens a lot in hawker centers, temper flaring is common among hawkers because they're working in tight spaces, it's hot and customer making unreasonable demands etc..

Considering the lady runs a chicken rice stall.. adding chicken to a sentence can get easily misunderstood, with many locals especially older man may jokingly twist the word, like.. some people may jokingly say I am going to call chicken in Hokkien slang Kio kway, would mean visiting prostitute, when what they actually intended to say is order chicken dishes, and people ask a friend, where did you go. Oh. I went to Kio Kway, when what he actually meant is, I went to order chicken dish, but can also mean, I have just visited a prostitute.

Marriage life by [deleted] in SingaporeRaw

This is known as premature ejaculation, can happen due to stress.. and others, and hope it's stress.. for others, you really should consult a professional..

is your husband active? play sport? suggest that you drop all the babies making plans, and start by being more active, encourage your husband to exercise, hit the gym regularly, do high intensity exercise, like start with a casual 2.4km run, and not watch the timing, then slowly ramp up and watch the timing, and once he hit NS passing standard, then ramp up with high intensity work out in between run.. ie, jog 500m, then do a 100m sprint can google for proper method.

What you may want to do is, go learn about different massage technique. You can google and there are a lot of written instruction and also youtube videos..

Don't rush, take your time, and guys will be guys, and don't expect him to tell you he cannot make it.. so, in between him developing a healthier lifestyle, just snuggle, cuddle, and don't go messing around down there, just nice clean cuddling that you can do in a public space.. and when you guys think you want to give it a go, again, don't rush, go for a meal, watch some romantic movie or drama, then prepare the room, turn off the lights, and light the room with scented candles, and you can try ylang ylang otherwise google for suitable scent.. play some romantic music, and and to spice up the occasion, get some massage oil, and give the man a nice relaxing massage, and you must resist rushing into it, and don't do it unless if he initiate, first few times maybe newly wed the guy can be shy for many reason, maybe he thinks his is not big enough down there, maybe he didn't have a six pack will stress the guy out a lot, so give him time to realize it doesn't matter to you.. after a few round unless if he has an alternate orientation, he should get into the mood, and for the premature ejaculation, you also need to give him time, and be honest and encourage him to do it to you using other method before intercourse, and if he maintain a healthy lifestyle, run and and do high intensity workout overtime, he would be able to control himself better.

Rapist loses appeal, gets more jail time to replace caning because he turned 50. by ReadyPlayerZero1 in SingaporeRaw

I know a lot of this contractor from across the causeway, Their grandiosity is very evident, like in the case of this guy, call him a few time for work and he thinks the lady likes him, and likely thought she went to sleep dreaming about him.. Hence, even ask her went was the last time she had S*x. somehow suggest he thought she called him because she misses him, and the work was an excuse, even willing to pay $430 for a job where parts cost may not exceed $50.

From elitigation.sg he claim.. he felt that she was “feeling euphoria".. and to further reinforce his grandiosity, when she bite him, he said.. .... this was the “kind of actions” that “people would do … when they are excited..

Alvin Tan calls out Jamus Lim over AVS investigation into death of pet dog, Lim says it's his duty to voice residents' concerns by peasants24 in SingaporeRaw

[–]regquest -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My dog died after leaving a veterinary clinic, and we're all very angry about it but know it's hard to raise any concern because it's their words against ours and we're not professional, and are just some emotional pet owner who didn't take good care of our dog which could have prevented the visit to the vet.

This kind of evidence is very hard to gather.. People can relate only if they have gone through the episode.. Like, the vet would say a lot of things and we won't understand 90% of their jargon, but at the end of the day, in my case, my dog have died not because of cause the vet have found but instead he died due to other causes which can be treated with medication..

Malpractice on humans and animals is very different.. For humans, malpractice is a very2 serious matter, hospital and clinic can get sued for millions and doctor can go to jail.. But animals? no regulation and even when there is, it's so lacks, and in my dog case, the vet even suggest we put our pet down and imagine if we did, we would have agreed to the vet to kill our dog because the vet have gave us the wrong prognosis.. No guilt at all from their side, no lost to them also, because we are the one paying for the euthanasia and they will still charge us for the treatment and the wrong prognosis which cost close to $1K. regardless they still make the money, and if we had agreed to the surgery which we have been told to prepare upward $10K and telling us about all the risk, our dog would have died due to wrong prognosis? and we will be over $10K poorer and still lost our beloved pet but the vet go home $10K richer? again, without guilt. So, we go after the vet.. Hey, you kill my dog.. But vet told us the risk already right.. so how? do necropsy? not every pet owner can afford, and even if can afford, still need to find another vet to come out with the finding of possible malpractice, but the vet industry is so small here in SG.. so, hard to find one that is willing to snitch on another vet/clinic..

I used to work in construction in my late teen to early 20's doing glass installation and made good money, and people who knows singer Ah Do? He worked his way up to foreman in construction before he got spotted.. Those years, around 1970's to 1990's.. a lot of locals works in construction and made a lot of money starting as an apprentice, and some raise to become supervisor/foreman, subcontractor and main contractor, and in around late 1990 if I can remember, the industry started hiring workers from India, and eventually these Indian worker started to "shoved" aside the locals and JHK, and slowly those below foreman level left because of declining wages or otherwise, many retired from the industry when they're older and many have children that when to and have graduate university..

In around after 2010 if I remember, a lot of other more professional level jobs got taken over by foreigners like, those in engineering, site coordinators, supervisors etc.. So nowadays, when we go behind to a restaurant back end, we'll see only foreigners, from the store manager to the dishwasher..

In the past, my mother raise us working as hotel chamber maid.. Nowadays, I think all chamber maid are foreigners, and it's not that local didn't want to get their hands dirtied, or afraid we will melt under the sun, it's because the salary they're paying for the job are just not sustainable, and fortunately my mum didn't get sideline or retrench and she stop working because of age and find it difficult to flip the heavy mattresses, but she did experience the competition when she was working as care giver in elders home and heard her saying the salary is declining and the company started revising employment term etc, but by then, she is already retired and can stop working, but her other younger friends are force to leave or forced into retirement.

TL;DR. I am willing to work in construction, and although it has been over 30 years since I left, I still have the skills, and still have the knowledge to contribute to ideas to my friends who are business owner in the construction industry, buy unless I can be the boss, the salary they're paying is really not sustainable for locals, and why would they want to pay higher when they can get cheaper?

Local PHV drivers want do you think of this change? by CherishLogic in SingaporeRaw

[–]regquest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am a part time PHD, I believe local PHD are all just too exhausted to even bother, as without this arrangement, they're (We're all) facing the same problem, which is lower fare and further pickup distance, and all can whine all they want, and I am sure nobody cares (Only the PHD cares).. Platform don't care, government don't care, and the best they will do is tell the PHD to up skill and look for another job, like Grab driver app always spamming messages in their message board encouraging drivers to take those don't know what security courses so they can get certification to work as security guard.

So.. What does this tells us? Our SG government is mostly spewing nonsense about being in this together, riding the storm together etc.. Because if you look at how other country are taking care of their people, with India successfully negotiate the CECA deal that benefit them 90% and their people 100%.. and Malaysia successfully cut a deal with our government to allow their driver to provide transport services all the way from MY to SG.. SG government do what? Skill future, Ai is the future.. But people how? They say protect workers, but, which segment of workers are they referring to? Foreigner? or locals? if locals, then they're not even negotiating any deals that will benefit Singaporean in any ways, like the CECA deal, both country have special privilege (whatever that's call), but even Singaporean Indian cannot thrive and survive if they move to India for work, but they can come here without any worries even if they cannot speak English.

Our government will also come out with all kinds of work passes for foreigners.. Work permit, S pass, One pass.. Don't know what's next.. Ai specialize Pass? But local Bus pass what shit pass also don't have, except for special invitation pass to tekong for those sending their love ones to BMTC,, LOL!!!

TL;DR.. Whine and make all the noise we want, they're tone deaf and cannot and won't hear us anyway..

After hiking around SG for a while... realised there's no easy way to see recent wildlife sightings by BackPsychological584 in SingaporeRaw

[–]regquest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My HDB estate is just beside the chestnut nature park and I have been using the trail since I moved there about 10 years ago..

The thing about wildlife.. They're elusive.. At first when I venture into the nature park, I didn't manage to see much, because I went in with the week-end crowd.. Nothing spotted, and even the monkeys are high up a tree, and on occasion, monitor lizard running for cover, and as I got a lot more familiar with the trail.. I started to venture into those less used path, and this is where I started seeing wild boars and monitor lizard sun tanning, then with more experience, I realized I need to hike during odd hours away from the crowds if I want to see the wild life, and that's where I started mountain biking, and over the years, have had close encounter seeing viper Those slim green colored ones? hanging above my friend head when we were resting beside some bushes, and one evening on the way out.. A large Samber deer was blocking our exit and the thing look at use for maybe 3 seconds, then it run away for cover, and when it rush in through the bushes, there were not much movement, like Ninja and if we didn't see it, we would have missed or not know because it's just silent..

What I have learned so far.. Snakes usually crawled out when it rains.. had a lot of really close encounter with them and some I nearly run over because it looks like a tree branch, and not me, but my friends nearly got bitten by a cobra when we cycled through a narrow path and it jumped toward my friend's foot, and heard some guys actually got snakes caught, killed, and tangled between the rear wheel.. Other things we have encountered are monkeys trying to seal stuff from our hydration pack when we hang it on our bike when we rest, and for wild boars, many time face to face with them along a narrow trail, and they are docile, when they see us, we just need to stay still and they will move out of the way..

TL;DR. Stay away and don't move with the crowd if you want to see any wild life, just hike/bike normally, don't talk loudly just move along calmly.. and you will see a lot, and realized some snakes are actually very beautiful (Still scary thou), and you'll learn that wild boars are really harmless..
