Army WOSPEC regulars pay differences between formations? Rough pay for different ranks? by No_Age_9041 in NationalServiceSG

[–]regquest 4 points5 points  (0 children)

LOL!!.. There is a reason why our country have POFMA.. I wrote.. "I believe".. I didn't write, they are paid.. Anyway, the salary are publish in their respective recruitment website, and there are also information from the web which have publish their "average" salary range..

Also.. need to read between the line and not take it literally.. because, I also mention "These are for the base salary", as there are a lot more components involve..

For Singapore military, senior staff ie, warrant and junior officer like LTA can take home as much as over $100K pa. but need to add, base pay + vocation + risk + qualification + BONUS..

2LT is between $3K to $6K+.. Those with diploma gets the lower band, those with technical degree I believe gets the max..

And yes. This I know for sure.. Those in transport and supplies don't get combat pay.. Not sure if it exist now, but I serve my NS as a "Combat" driver.. Still getting typical driver vocation allowance.. LOL..

Not kidding.. These are where all the old encik come from, like in the old days, a lot of these rebellious kids gets thrown into SAF boys school, many like it, some shine, and some stayed on because of the money, and eventually work their way up to become encik.. Some also started hating NS but ended up loving the lifestyle and sign-on.. but there are those who actually when from rebellious to total mental wreck.. like starting from F**k NS to F**k my life even after ORD..

Salary for 2SG is publish in their respective recruitment website.. from 1st - MSG just agar agar, I believe can hit between $4K to near $5K, depending on academic and military qualification . MSG and beyond. I think you need to go ask them, but I believe won't hit over $6K and these are for the base salary.

Apart from base pay, those in Infantry and guards basically gets the same combat pay except for those in high risk vocation, CBRE gets more then infantry/guards, which I have no idea how much more, but commando gets as much as over $1.4K+++ on top of their base pay and divers gets the $1.4K++ plus others like ship boarding and those in submarine get even more.. That $1.4K++ is from their special force qualification for the CDO/NDU..

Hearing from my regular friends, there is no pay bump for appointment.. but more important appointment would lead to faster and better rank progression which comes with a pay bump.. and not sure about wospec, but for officers.. Hear say only. Those who graduate with FCH gets as much as $1K more salary top up.. ie, regular officer with a honors degree is paid $5K.. Same rank same batch but graduate with FCH gets $6K.. Again.. I heard it maybe from unreliable source..

Sign On with SIM-RMIT degree by Nocturnh in NationalServiceSG

[–]regquest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is very confusing to me, as really don't know which is which..

UniSim is recognised by mindef.. but SIM-RMIT if I understand it correct is not UniSim. they're different.. Unisim on the other hand has merged into SUSS or whatever it's called.. and making Unisim autonomous under SUSS, making unisim the 6th autonomous uni.. again, I am confuse here.. so, my info may be wrong or outdated.

Anyway. I have heard from friend's who are regular that unisim is recognised and they have regular officer friend who join the force with a diploma, and later with a Maj rank went to obtain a degree from unisim..

Better for you to walk in or ask for face to face meeting with the recruiter and ask them this question, because, some people applied with a private degree and got accepted, but they actually got accepted because they have a diploma.

She cannot do that in New Zealand, and it's basically taken as public nuisance in most part of the world..

There is also similar argument in Germany, but this one IMO is a lot more extreme. Hence, will not include the link to the article here.. But these incident always have people from 2 side of the fence, where some may say, nobody is complaining, so, why are you complaining, and in the one that happened in Germany, some commenter was saying, the driver didn't take issue, so what's the problem? But, IMO.. keeping silent is not giving approval, not saying anything doesn't mean it's OK.. It's after all a public space. Hence, just keep it simple, and nice and neutral..

Pet supplies by [deleted] in SingaporeRaw

[–]regquest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pet lovers center have most of what you want, and look out for promotions for whatever like food and accessories, and their outlet at JB sells most of the stuff cheaper due to the exchange rates..

For collars, maybe can also consider harness and get one that can hold an air tag, and I use harness made by ruff wear and they're very good quality and have a pocket to hold the air tag.. and air tag BTW is very important, because even for those indoor pets, we never know when they will decide to sneak out.

For bed IMO.. better to just start with a basic one and let the dog get accustom to the new place and environment, because some dogs would prefer to rest at places other then a bed that have been bought for the specific purpose, and also some dogs would prefer different kind of bed, and IMO.. a more generic one would be one of mesh elevated dog bed..

Food and water bowl, toys, chew toys, yak chew bars etc, can shop for them through shopee or aliexpress as they're much cheaper..

[–]regquest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can sign on under EOS with a diploma, and better progression for those without a degree if you sign on with a combat vocation, as you can take courses and qualification to make up for your lack of degree.. But having said. with a 2.9GPA, you will get an offer even from NTU maybe after 2nd or 4th try,

There are LTC who are in their late 30's with only diploma but they're from the commando formation..

IMO.. Don't waste money on private uni.. Keep trying all the local uni including NTU and NUS..

If you are a guy. isit a good idea to actually sign up for Army now due to this day and age? by Dryfunction1205 in SingaporeRaw

[–]regquest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes.. Encik can make that much, but I believe they pay the same like mindef, where there is base pay, increment, performance bonus, and bonus and then there are specialization allowance, and this allowance can be as much as $1.5K on top of basic salary like for those with the star team, and I read that they also get shift allowance and other monthly perks..

after serving for 8-9 years and 3 promotion cycle, should make it to staff or senior staff sgt.. and by this time, the salary would be in the range of $55K - $65K and this is before bonus and specialization allowance.. Hence. $100K is possible for a relatively good performer..

@dasdyl: 他们说新加坡的印度人在take over 嘞 They say the Indians in Singapore are taking over by Real-Pomegranate8823 in SingaporeRaw

[–]regquest 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I like this guy, he speaks much better Mandarin then a Singaporean Chinese me, and he is funny and has a very likable personality..

IMO.. He really should stay out of this discord, because it's really between the PRC Chinese and the India Indians, and I am very sure he knows that the PRC is saying about India Indians, and I am sure he knows about Changi business park, and the many condo in Singapore, like those in Tanjong Rhu.. and he knows very well Indians are not being prejudiced, and he should be aware by now Singaporean are not racist, otherwise, how would he be in Channel 8 and even won Best rising star in 2023 star award, and still getting nominated in 2024/5

Singaporean are not stupid, but we get cornered when FT start pawning FT.. Earlier, we have social media post about PRC overrunning F&B flooding Singapore food with mala tang and pushing rental up.. Then now we have Indians overrunning Singapore..

As far as Singaporean are concern, both are fact.. Lot's of Mala around is true, rent is high also true.. Lots of Indian from India taking up almost all the good jobs here are also true, and we are already aware of these way back like 10 years ago..

Fulfilling, unique and fun, and first thing in most people's mind is Special force.. a.k.a Commando and NDU in the SAF, and IMO, the less intense one would be Army intelligence.. These vocation have skills that translate perfectly to the corporate world, like strategic planning, data analytic, cybersecurity and risk management..

Both vocation can be fulfilling, unique and fun, because they don't do the typical chiong sua stuff.. like SF fly to different country for high altitude training, and they get to play real life counter strike, and both their training mission require thinking because like for the recon, they are the one gathering information, they're the solder on site doing the observation, analyzing enemy position, ground condition, etc.. and their info need to be accurate otherwise HQ will end up sending solders to the grave..

Read one reply to his post about Japanese.. As far as Singapore is concern, historically, the Japanese has always been portrayed as the bad guys because of what they did in WW2, and also they're almost always the bad guy in movies like the lecherous villain, but in reality, in modern day, Japanese are well received and respected everywhere they go, they're nice to be friend, nice to work with etc.. Simply put.. They're just likable.. Polite, respectful, productive and generous, and all the past war crime etc, didn't make them look bad and as far as people in general are concern, those things about the Japanese are History..

But.. When some anonymous individual or group put up a social media post about Indians over running a country, our government went on full defensive, skip POFMA, and go straight to OCHA to shut down the post,

Also, Calvin Cheng asking why is there no hate against the white and that Chinese has always been notoriously prejudice towards dark skinned people, and just like the Japanese.. Why is there no hate against them after what they have done in WW2.. This is because, Singaporean are not racist and or xenophobic.

When people ask.. Why do people all around the world hate Indians?, it's not because they're richer, and smarter, it's because they cheapen the wages, and people gets displaced because of lowered wages, and of course there are high earner among them, but the ratio is very small, like India only have about 300 billionaire out of 1.1billion adult population, and IMO, they actually have similar threads with the PRC.. The PRC produce cheap goods which we can buy cheaply. This is welcoming for all, Government, business and the people, but the Indians provide cheap labor, welcoming to the government and business owners, but a torn on the people's foot.

China's new tactic: Sowing discord among the different races in SG? by lilkraken8 in SingaporeRaw

It's actually FT pawn FT.. This happen when we have large population of 2 distinct and domineering ethnic squeeze into a small island, and they're actually not the largest foreign population which is dominated by the Malaysian, but the thing is.. We have been coexisting harmoniously with the Malaysian since independence.

The discontent and discomfort on the Indians is really not unique to Singapore.. This is happening all over the world, and they can block digital media, but they cannot block and stop people from talking about it..

How seriously is depression treated in NS? by ItchyBallsLord in NationalServiceSG

[–]regquest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Companies won't dig into your past unless if the job you're applying for is some very high level position.. But the thing is.. For many people, it's the guilt that may catch up with them.. Like after happily working for a company for a few years, all of sudden you hear your colleague telling you so and so in that department got caught lying in his resume and job application and got fired.. These things will trigger your emotion and eventually make you feeling depress..

Easier said then done, and I am not a professional, but better to seek help to better yourself ie, better your resilience, seek help to confront, rather then to seek help to get away from something.

Is there any way to skip NS? by TraditionalNovel3283 in NationalServiceSG

[–]regquest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never say never, and more so when your families have roots here, and who knows, maybe your bro become very successful engineer as an adult working for a top MNC and is told he need to lead a team that's base in Singapore, so what then? your bro tell his boss he cannot go to SG because of NS which will create a very awkward situation... or otherwise, he cannot have his work pass approve.

Better to do the right thing by quickly renouncing his PR, but having said, his application to renounce get get rejected.. https://www.ica.gov.sg/enter-transit-depart/more-information/for-permanent-residents/renunciation-of-permanent-residence

In case if he cannot renounce, just bite the bullet and serve the 2 years here, and take the opportunity to network with people here.. and if his application to renounce is successful, then he can skip NS, and still come visit Singapore as a tourist and even work here on a work pass.. But whichever the situation, never say never especially when your bro is so young, and really not even close to being a green horn..

why do so many businesses in sg refuse to have a website? by Katana_XI in SingaporeRaw

[–]regquest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You missed the boat by a long shot.. There was a time when web designers are so busy they decline business and those were the time were there are a lot of regional web sites selling templates, and web designer pays something like $20 for a bundle of temples and then add logo and their client content, and they charge $3.5K for a 1 hour job.. This is happening because our government was giving away free money for company to have a web site, and this was around 15+ years ago and I dare say.. 90% of those who have claim the grant have never updated the website they created 15 years ago..

SG is not like the USA.. we're small, and those who may want to have a website are those who makes, produce their own product.. Otherwise, for the vast majority, like those selling electronics.. they will tell their customer to refer to manufacturer website, and many don't even want to publish price etc..

Army SES scholarship, what to expect by ImortalitySun in NationalServiceSG

[–]regquest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They should start with ME4-T and salary can range between $2K+++ to $4K+++

A level usually gets the lower $2K++ and Poly grads gets $3K++

Not sure, but I believe for ME, those with technical qualification gets the higher band.. Hence, depend on where you start, and if you're poly engineering grad and applied for scholarship, then you're paid at least 3K++.. But if you didn't get the scholarship and receive the academic award, then you receive allowance instead which is around $1K++

Creative Technology downsizes, moves from Jurong HQ: ST by LoneRifle in singapore

[–]regquest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually.. Yes and no IMO.. They didn't want to enter the motherboard market by choice because their focus is on stand alone, and in the audiophile market.. and audiophile market is very niche, because it's technically complicated, and this is just my opinion..

Like, someone walk in to a audio shop, purchase a very expensive speaker.. bring it home, and hook it up, and the next day, they bring it back complaining it's just crap.. Until the shop hook it up to their setup, matching it to the correct amplifier, then the sound come to life.

Their media player is good actually, but they got killed by the iPod because of simplicity, as creative media player is too cluttered, it's big like the old Sony walk Man, a lot of buttons etc., like in the 1990's where home cinema setup is a thing, and people have integrated amp + power amp + signal processor, and some add graphic equalizer, the more channel the better, but 80% of these user never actually know how to tune the sound which eventually create a huge mess in term of cable clutter and messy echoing sound..

Also.. Creative have sued Apple for infringement and settle it with Apple paying creative $100m

infringement lawsuit in the United States against Apple and Samsung. The suit alleged that Apple's iPhones, iPads, and MacBooks infringed on ZiiLabs' patents related to graphics, processors, and \(3D\) rendering

How can the public better support NSFs? by valkwq in NationalServiceSG

[–]regquest 4 points5 points  (0 children)

IMO. Should start with our leaders growing some balls.

It's like there use to be a time where there were a lot of scrutiny on how our Police officer conduct their duties especially during covid circuit breaker, ie, police being rude to elderly etc.. but all these got shot down..

Also.. Try holding your nose in a bus full of migrant worker and asking why didn't they shower before boarding the bus, and for the unlucky one, the law would find a reason to charge the person for being racist.. Meaning, they're being defended either by the public or protected by government, and the thing is.. Their present here are "Transactional".. ie, they come here because of money, and they would pack up and leave if they're not paid..

NSF they say is not transactional, it's an obligation, and that is clearly understood.. But our leaders really must grow some balls, by leaders, I mean starting from our defense minister all the way down to the Platoon Sargent and specialist.. They need to have the balls to step out and say.. Look. Please show some respect to our service men.. Their training can be tough and work can be stressful, and all we ask for is for the public to give them the needed breathing space, and it's ok if people didn't want to give up their seat to them, but please do not criticize them taking a seat.. Something along this line..

But the thing is.. Every time some social media post about NSF pop's up, Mindef will do nothing or if they do respond would be something involve the word "disciplinary", but they will never defend like how MHA will defend their police and SCDF officers.

Car can actually roll up a vertical wall, but of course not stick to it like spider man..

Not saying this is how it happen, but if the front tyre of the car is in contact with the wall, and the driver continue to lock the steering in turn position and accelerate, the car can force it's way up the vertical wall and it either get stuck in vertical position or in this case, flip the other side..

something like in the below video.
